Chapter 59 – The Regretful Billionaire: Victoria and Oscar

Vicky scoffed, rolling her eyes.

“I’m just really excited for you and for him too. Especially for him.”

“I knew it. You’ve been his fan all along. You have just been pretending to me.”

Kathie chuckled. “Don’t be jealous when there is actually no need to be.”

“I just….his story is so touching to hear and no matter what he went through, I just believe he deserves happiness too. And so do you.”

“For you all to still feel this way after five years, then your bond is bound to be forever.”

“I will get going before you mislead me with your sweet talks.” She said, picking up her handbag from the table and making her way out of the office.

“I love you.”

“Ewwwww! I can’t say the same about you.” Vee responded.

They both chuckled as they exited the office.

The moment the two best friends got out of the office building, they bumped into Bessie and Ashton who were just a couple of steps away.

“These two have been getting really close lately, don’t you think?” Kathie mumbled.

“I still think she is the one forcing herself on him.*

“You still hate her don’t you.”

“Hate is a strong word, Kathie. I just don’t like the fact that she is everywhere. I have nothing against her though! She is really passionate which is admirable. She wants Ashton so bad that she didn’t fail to clear everyone off her way.”

Before Kathie could give a response to what was said, they were approached by the duo.

“I was thinking of coming to see you before you leave. You are traveling tomorrow right?” Ashton spoke, directing his question at Vicky.

Bessie was standing beside Ashton so she instantly reached for his hands and intertwined it with his.

Victoria scoffed. “We know he is yours. You do not have to rub it in our face.”

“He is my man, I can hold him wherever I want and whenever.”

“Babe!” Ashton cautioned Bessie who was all clingy at him.

Kathie chuckled, enjoying the drama.

“It’s not my fault that she is jealous.” Bessie shrugged.

Jealous? You don’t know what you are saying.”

“You being on bad terms with everyone has nothing to do with me. No shades!”

“You misinterpret everything! I have nothing else to say to you.”

“See, I’m not the one with issues. I try to be good but she hates me which is cool!” Bessie said to Ashton.

“Ignore them, they Lowkey like each other but they would rather kill themselves than to admit it, Kathie said to Ashton, receiving a glare from Vee

“So when will you be back?” Ash asked Vicky.

“As long as it takes to be done with the whole survey.”

“All the best. I’m certain you are going to do well.”

“Thank you! I should get going.”

They said their goodbyes, with Vee and Kathic making their way towards the car park.

She chuckled, “You both are something else.”

“Bessie is a pain in the a ss. I just can’t deal!” Vicky replied.

Victoria Adylyn got home, went straight to her room for a shower, and packed a bit of her stuff after which she got her baby ready for bed.

She was about to read Sophie her bedtime story before she discovered that she might as well come clean to her daughter and prepare her mind for what was to happen.

“My love, I have something to discuss with you.

Her eyes lit up. “My birthday party.”

Vicky smiled. “We were definitely going to throw you a party but I have something else to discuss with you.”

“Okay. The little girl smiled regardless, excited that her mom was going to throw her a party.

“How do I say this?” She mumbled to herself, sighing.

“I want to talk to you about your Dad!”

“Daddy?!” She whispered, sounding confused.

“Yes, baby,” Vicky answered, caressing her cheek with the tip of her fingers.

“Your Dad is not dead.”

“But you told me Daddy died. It’s not good to tell lies, mama.”

Vicky was torn between keeping a straight face as well as smiling. The former was because she was a bit guilty about it and the latter simply because of the face her daughter put on, trying to scold her mama in her own little way.

“I know baby, I’m deeply sorry. It wasn’t Mama’s intention to tell you that.”

“A lot of things happened that you may not understand and that is why I kept the news away from you. Your Dada and I were not on good terms also. I’m so sorry baby.

“Are you sad?” Sophie asked her mommy. She could hear the concern in her little girl’s voice.

“Do you forgive me?”

“If I forgive you, you won’t be sad anymore?”

“Yes!” Vicky answered, nodding.

“I’m not mad at you, mama.

“You mean it?” She smiled.

Sophie nodded. “But when can I see my Dada?”

“You have seen him before,” Vee whispered.

“When we came back from Vinny’s party?”

Vicky nodded to her Daughter’s question as she referred to the airport scene.

She had expected her daughter to talk about it or even ask questions after that day but it was as though that scene was washed away from her memory.”

“Yes, that is your Daddy. I could not introduce you both properly because Mommy and Daddy were really not on good. terms and for some other reasons that you may not really understand.”

“Adult reasons?”

Vicky nodded Smiling. “Yes, adult reasons.”

“We are traveling tomorrow so you are going to meet him.”

Sophie smiled, “promise?”

“I give you my word, my baby.”

“Thank you, Mommy.” The little girl initiated a hug with Vicky. Vicky hugged her too, kissing her cheek.

“Are you excited?” She asked even though it was very evident on her daughter’s face.

The little girl nodded.

“What are you going to say to him when you see him?”

Vee watched with a proud smile as her daughter blushed.

“I’m going to ask him to play dress up with me.” She whispered.

Vicky laughed “Daddy is a really busy man but I am sure he won’t be able in refuse you. You will definitely have him. wrapped around your little fingers”

“I can’t wait for you to meet him Vicky leaned closer to her daughter, placing a deep kiss on the crown of her forehead.

“I have a surprise for you”

“What? Chocolates?”

Vicky burst into a peal of satisfied laughter. “Better than chocolates”

“Okay! Where is it?” Sophie mumbled, looking around her room for any surprise, knowing it had to be a tangible gift.

“You are going to have a baby sibling”

The switch between Sophie’s expression from her being excited about a surprise to her having teary eyes about the news. made Vee start to get emotional

“A baby brother?” At this point, tears were rolling down her cheeks.

Vee moved closer to her daughter and wiped the tears away with her thumb.

“We don’t know if it’s going to be a boy yet. We will find out soon but you are definitely having a baby sibling. It is growing in mommy’s belly already.”

“You will take care of it. Won’t you?”
