Chapter 99 – 99
Sam walked into the SimQuest studio, his steps steady and purposeful. The familiar hum of computers and creative energy surrounded him, a welcome return after his recent ordeal. Yuna looked up from her workstation, her face lighting up with a mixture of relief and excitement.
“Welcome back,” she said, rolling her chair closer to him. “How are you feeling?”
Sam stretched, testing his recovered muscles. “Better. Ready to get back to work.”
Yuna nodded, her fingers drumming against her desk. “It’s been a while since we collaborated. We should start making plans for our next simulation.”
“Actually,” Sam said, a glint of excitement in his eyes, “I already have a concept.”
Yuna’s eyebrows shot up. “Already? That was quick, even for you.” She leaned forward, curiosity piqued. “What are you thinking?”
Sam spread out the concept art across the desk. Yuna leaned closer, her eyes widening as she took in the intricate designs. The artwork depicted Kratos in his Norse-era form, muscular and battle-worn, surrounded by sketches of Norse gods with unique, menacing appearances.
“This is incredible,” Yuna breathed, tracing her finger along the detailed illustrations of Kratos and the surrounding mythological figures.
Sam’s eyes gleamed with excitement. “It’s a simulation based on Norse Gods. I want to create an experience that’s not just about extracting power, but about the journey of becoming powerful.”
Yuna looked up, her curiosity piqued. “Tell me more,” she said, pulling her chair closer to get a better view of the concept art.
Sam began explaining the core concept of the God of War simulation, his hands moving animatedly as he described the potential gameplay and narrative elements.
Sam’s enthusiasm grew as he detailed the intricate world of Norse mythology they would recreate. Yuna’s eyes sparkled with excitement, her hands already sketching preliminary character designs.
“We’ll use the B-Rank gem Aria gave us,” Sam said, spreading out more concept art.
Yuna’s pencil stopped mid-stroke. “Wait. Our combined mana isn’t enough for a B-Rank simulation. We can’t do this alone.”
Sam paused, realization dawning. “You’re right. We’ll need more developers.”
“Not just more,” Yuna clarified, “we need experienced developers who can contribute significant mana reserves. A B-Rank gem requires massive energy.”
“How massive?” Sam asked.
“Around 300,000 mana,” Yuna explained. “Our current reserves combined might hit 100,000 at best. We’re nowhere near enough.”
Sam drummed his fingers on the desk. “So we need to recruit. But who?”
“Someone with proven track record,” Yuna suggested. “Someone who understands complex simulations and has high mana reserves.”
“Any recommendations?” Sam leaned forward, genuinely interested in her perspective.
Yuna tapped her chin. “We’ll need at least three more developers. Gail might know some potential candidates.”
Sam nodded. “Good thinking. We should ask her right now.”
Sam and Yuna approached Gail’s office, their concept art carefully tucked under Sam’s arm. Yuna knocked on the door, and Gail’s crisp voice called them inside.
“What can I do for you?” Gail asked, looking up from her computer.
Sam stepped forward. “We’re working on a new simulation concept called God of War project using the B-Rank gem Aria gave us.”
Gail’s eyebrow raised slightly. “You’re already using the B-Rank Gem?”
Yuna nodded. “We know we’ll need more developers and mana reserves. We were hoping you could help us recruit.”
Gail leaned back in her chair. “Before I consider recommending anyone, I want to see the concept. Spread it out.”
Sam carefully laid the artwork across Gail’s desk. Intricate sketches of Kratos, Norse gods, and mythological landscapes covered the surface. Detailed character designs showed muscular figures with unique weapons and armor.
Gail studied the artwork carefully, her fingers tracing the lines of a particularly detailed sketch of Kratos. “Interesting,” she murmured. “And what makes you think this is worth a B-Rank investment?”
Sam and Yuna exchanged a look. “We want to create more than just a combat simulation,” Sam explained. “This is about the journey of becoming powerful. The narrative, the world-building, the character progression.”
Gail continued examining the concept. “Show me,” she said simply.
Sam continued to passionately describe the depth and ambition behind their God of War simulation concept. He emphasized the immersive narrative, the complex character arcs, and the opportunity to bring the awe-inspiring Norse pantheon to life in a way that would captivate players. Yuna chimed in, adding details about the innovative gameplay mechanics and the potential for the simulation to push the boundaries of what was possible.
As Sam and Yuna finished their presentation, Gail leaned back in her chair, a thoughtful expression on her face. After a brief pause, she nodded approvingly.
“I’m convinced. This has the potential to be a truly groundbreaking experience.” She stood up and extended her hand. “You have my full support. I’ll help you recruit the necessary developers to make this a reality.”
Sam and Yuna exchanged elated looks, their faces breaking into wide grins. They shook Gail’s hand enthusiastically, already brimming with excitement to bring their ambitious project to life.
Gail nods, her expression serious. “It’s going to take some time to find the right developers for this project. I want you both to be involved in the interview process.”
Sam and Yuna exchange a glance, both eager to have a hand in selecting their team. “Absolutely,” Sam replies, his voice brimming with determination. “We want to make sure we find the best people for the job.”
Yuna chimes in, “We’ll be here, ready to meet with any candidates you bring in.” She looks to Gail, her eyes shining with anticipation. “When can we start?”
Gail offers a small smile, pleased by their enthusiasm. “I’ll start reaching out to my contacts immediately. I’ll let you know as soon as I have some potential candidates lined up.”
Sam nods, already mentally preparing for the interviews. “We appreciate you taking the time to find the right fit. This simulation is going to be something special, and we want to make sure we have the right team to bring it to life.”
Yuna places a hand on Sam’s arm, her touch gentle but reassuring. “Together, I know we can make this happen.”
Gail watches the two developers, a spark of pride in her eyes. “I have no doubt you will. Just let me know when you’re ready, and we’ll get started.”
