Amelia felt her lips press together tightly in frustration and controlled anger, while her pale cheeks flushed to a deep crimson that reflected the intensity of her emotional response to what she considered a profound injustice and abuse of governmental power.

Graves raised his graying eyebrows. “What?”

“He wants me to be responsible for monitoring him.”
