Annabelle Linton was silent for a moment, clearly lost in thought.

She glanced indifferently at the wound, which wouldn’t stop bleeding, then set down the kitchen knife and said flatly, “I’m going to go clean this up. Dinner is ready, so you all can serve it. Have everyone start eating without me.”

“What happened?” Leona Grant walked in with a frown, startled by the sight of Annabelle Linton’s bleeding finger.

The cut was deep, and the blood dripping onto the floor, drop by drop, was a shocking sight.

Without a word, Leona Grant pursed his lips and pulled Annabelle Linton over to sit on the sofa.

Annabelle Linton wanted to pull away, but seeing his family walking toward them, she remained silent.

Ashley Grant ran to Annabelle Linton’s side and frowned at the wound on her hand. “How did you start bleeding?”

“It’s just a little cut. I’m fine.”

“Don’t move,” Ashley Grant said, pursing her lips as she brought over the first-aid kit.

Mrs. Grant saw Annabelle Linton’s wound as soon as she walked over and exclaimed, “Oh dear, that’s so much blood! Leona, hurry and stop the bleeding for Annabelle!”

“What a wonderful smell! This must be Annabelle’s cooking!” the old man said with a hearty laugh as he wandered back in, recognizing Annabelle Linton’s handiwork by the aroma alone.

Getting cut while cooking was a perfectly normal thing. Annabelle Linton felt they were making a big fuss over nothing. “Mom, Ashley, I’m fine. Everyone, please go eat first. I’ll be there after I take care of this.”

Mrs. Grant was still worried; after all, the cut was very deep. “Are you really okay?”

“I’m really fine.”

Glancing at her son’s gloomy face, a glint flashed in Mrs. Grant’s eyes. “Alright then. Leona, make sure you bandage Annabelle properly. We don’t want it to leave a scar.”
