As Qin Fan stepped onto the staircase, a long-lost sense of familiarity washed over him. This dormitory building held the best four years of his life. A faint, fond smile involuntarily appeared on his face as he continued climbing, but he hadn’t even reached the seventh floor when a barrage of curses abruptly shattered his reverie.

“Fuck you! What the hell do you think you’re doing!”

“You little shit, who the fuck are you talking to!”

“I’m talking to you! What are you gonna do about it!”

“Say it again, I dare you.”

“I said, fuck you! What the fuck can you do about it! I’ll give you one chance: clean up the water in front of my dorm right now, or I’ll make you understand that not every college student is a gentleman!”

Hearing the aggressive, profanity-laced shouting, Qin Fan frowned. One of those voices was all too familiar!

At that thought, he quickly ran up to the seventh floor. The entire corridor was packed with students who had rushed out to see what the commotion was about. At the epicenter, in front of Dorms 708 and 709, a tense three-versus-four standoff was underway. The entire conflict had started over dirty water from mopping the floors.

“You assholes from 709! Don’t you fucking think you’re hot shit just because you have one extra guy! Let me tell you, I’m from the Northeast, and I’m not afraid!” Outside Dorm 708, a muscular, shirtless student wearing only a pair of basketball shorts roared at the four men across the hall. “You really think I’m a pushover? I don’t give a damn if you’re a gentleman or not! You lay one finger on me and see what happens! Everyone on the seventh floor is cleaning their dorms. Whose water isn’t flowing outside? You think you can bully the three of us just because there are four of you?”

“If the Northeasterner isn’t scared, what’s a Northwesterner like me got to fear? It’s just a fight, right? A three-on-four doesn’t scare me!”

“This is bullshit! We’re fighting for our dignity! I’m from the Southwest, and I’m sticking with the guys from the Northeast and Northwest! If you’ve got the guts, come and get it!”

The sheer, defiant ferocity of the three students from 708 instantly stunned the other side. Although there were four of them, faced with the unyielding stance of the trio from 708, all but the loudmouth at the front seemed to lose their nerve.

“Are you guys going to fight them? This hallway is too narrow; we can’t move freely. I can’t take on three guys alone!” the leader of the group said, turning to the three students he had just met as his new roommates.

“Let’s… let’s just drop it! It’s not that big of a deal!”

“It’s the first day of school! Let’s not stir up so much trouble!”

“I agree with them. What if this gets back to our advisor? It’s not a huge deal anyway. Let’s just forget it!”

Because of the bold stance of the three from Dorm 708, the four-on-three situation instantly devolved into a one-on-three. The other three from 709 had backed down.

“For fuck’s sake! What a pathetic display! Didn’t you hear them? We’re fighting for our dignity, and you’re scared of a four-on-three? You worthless pieces of crap! Useless cowards, get lost! I’m going to fight for that honor today, with or without you!” the leader of 709 shouted, his face red with rage.

He postured as if to charge at the three from 708. But just then, a voice suddenly cut through the noise, making everyone turn to look.

“That’s a fight you can’t afford.”

SWOOSH!

The leader from 709 immediately froze and whipped his head around. “Who said that!”

“Excuse me, coming through!” Qin Fan said, pushing his way through the crowd.

“So, because some water from Dorm 708 flowed to your doorstep, you’re ready to fight to the death?” Qin Fan chuckled, looking at the student from 709 who claimed he wasn’t a gentleman.

He’d almost forgotten the story between Dorms 708 and 709 on the first day of school. In his past life, the conflict was already over by the time he arrived. Being extremely shy and introverted back then, he never even learned what had happened until two years later, when the trio happened to bring it up. Even though it had been three against one, the three from Dorm 708 had nearly suffered a humiliating defeat. They never expected the guy to be a martial artist. It was only because the corridor was so narrow that they managed a win. Otherwise, a three-on-one fight would have become a shameful joke. “No need,” Qin Fan said with a smile. “I can take you on my own.”

What the hell? He can take him on his own?

Not only were the onlooking students stunned by this audacious claim, but even the trio from 708 was dumbfounded. Holy shit, where did this guy come from? He’s turning down a four-on-one to fight a duel? With those skinny arms and legs, can he even last a minute?

Before they could think any further, Qin Fan’s expression turned playful as he reached for the collar of the student from 709.

Seeing the hand coming at a deliberately slow speed, the student from 709 swung his own hand to swat it away.

A crisp sound echoed in the hall.

“AARGH!”

The next moment, the attacking student from 709 yelped as Qin Fan had already moved, slapping the back of his own hand against his opponent’s incoming arm. The strike left the student’s hand numb, throbbing with a searing pain.

While he was still howling, Qin Fan grabbed his collar and hoisted him into the air. “A guy like you thought you could take on three?” he asked with a mocking smile.

He had just been boasting about taking on four. Now, in their very first exchange, he was being held up by the collar single-handedly by one man. This was humiliating beyond belief!

What am I doing? Qin Fan’s lips curled into a smirk. That being said, deep in his memory, the guys from Dorm 708 had suffered plenty of bullying at this guy’s hands. He had only narrowly lost that first three-on-one fight because of the narrow hallway, and even that close call had made the brothers from 708 wary of him. After that, this guy would constantly provoke them, often daring them to a group fight. The guys from 708 couldn’t stomach the insult, but after getting beaten down a few times, they had no choice but to swallow their pride. But in this life, how could Qin Fan let that happen again? The conquest starts now.

“Tough talker, are you? Fine, let’s see if your nerve is as strong as your mouth. You’re ready to fight to the death over a little bit of water at your door? Who gave you that kind of guts?” Qin Fan chuckled dismissively.

He took a step to the side. With his right hand still clutching the student’s collar, he thrust his arm outward.

The student was suddenly dangling in midair, held out over the empty space seven floors above the ground.
