The world isn’t made for kind people.

You try to do something decent, something good and what do you get? Mockery, hate and maybe even a few curses from the very ones you tried to help.

I mean, what the actual hell.

If someone goes out of their way to help, the least you can do is say thank you or, if the helper is as glorious as me, maybe kneel a little, rub your nose on the ground and maybe whisper some praise.

Hell, I wouldn’t have even minded some treasures but all I got were death threats and some intense stares.

That’s why I don’t like doing good deeds. I mean, doing good in this world doesn’t make you noble, it just makes you a target.

So I always try my best not to help people who serve no purpose… but what can I do?

My annoyingly benevolent heart always manages to sneak past my better judgment and throw itself at useless people anyway.

Like this particular bastard, Cedric something.

This fucker had been glaring at me ever since we first met.

The same friend who, not even five minutes ago, was trying to kill every single one of us.

“He was busy sucking juices from some elf instead of his mother, so his father asked me to put him to sleep.”

I replied with the same old smile on my face.

Now, hear me out, I could’ve given a polite answer. Something gentle or maybe even sensitive for the poor guy who had just lost his best friend.

So I thought, why not give him a little more reason to hate me?

I was completely drained of mana except the small amount which was recovering slowly but even without it… my hit landed like a mana-reinforced strike because my body wasn’t normal anymore.

After being fused with the essence of a draconic heart and reborn as an Arcane Human, my physique had evolved far beyond those of the same rank.

Tougher. Denser. Stronger.

I didn’t know how exactly it worked but well, I mean, I wasn’t just alive now, I was a living core.

The air was knocked clean out of that bastard before he fell down to his knees.

Bearlo just stood there, frozen behind me beside Seraphina.

He had woken up at the same time as Cedric, right after Seraphina cast the curse removal spell.

Poor guy looked crushed, probably depressed after disappointing me again but, in his defense, it wasn’t exactly his fault this time.

I mean, come on, how was he supposed to defeat that weirdo elf fucker fused with the body of some shut-in otaku?

So yeah, I didn’t blame him but I didn’t explain that to him either because sometimes, our own expectations and worries push us higher than any scolding or encouragement ever could.

If I say nothing, the weight of his own thoughts will do the work for me and if that weight crushes him instead of pushing him to rise… Well, then he just wasn’t meant to be my assistant.

In any case, my gaze locked onto that kneeling fucker once more.

“What do you think you are doing?”

I smiled as I said it but inside, the disgust twisted deeper. That smug face, that fake righteousness… I could feel my patience rotting just looking at him.

“You bastard,” he spat, his voice shaking with grief and rage. “Why did you kill him? Why?! I could’ve saved him… I could have.”

He glared up at me, hatred burning through the tears in his eyes as he clutched his stomach.

“I’ll kill you,” he hissed. “Even if it’s the last thing I do… once we get out of this cursed forest, I’ll definitely kill you.”

Those were the only thoughts I had as I saw him saying those words with express full of hatred on his face.
