She caught it, trembling.

Receiving it this way felt humiliating.

This wasn’t an accomplishment— this was being played.

She had wanted to watch him look foolish and astonished.

But somehow, she was the one wearing that expression now.

“So you were just… watching us make fools of ourselves the whole time?”

She forced down her anger, mindful of the Tsaritsa’s presence— but her voice still trembled.
