When they arrived at the old Chieftain’s wooden hut, the Chieftain was up on a higher level, watering flowers. She smiled. “Lady Lu Xiao, you’ve arrived.”

“Good day, Chieftain.” Lu Xiao entered the hut and sat down comfortably. The old Chieftain poured her a pail of water. “Thank you for making the trip. It must have been tiring.”

“What was it you wanted to see me about?” Lu Xiao didn’t want to waste time with pleasantries.

The old Chieftain nodded. “I know. I’m glad you’ve told me this. If that’s the case, then for the time you do remain, would you be willing to serve as the Canghe Tribe’s temporary witch doctor?”

Lu Xiao nodded. “Alright.”

The old Chieftain looked at her, relieved and clearly satisfied.
