Chapter 47: Adventure!
“I can grant others a system with this!? Okay, this is definitely going in my cart.”
He checked the price and was surprised to see it was only 10,000 Dm. Not that cheap, though, considering it was 10% of his total amount.
“I think I’m done for today; I can’t spend more Dms.”
Livas’s slave spoke up:
“Would you like to check out? 1,000 Dms will be deducted.”
“Yes, but wait. About that bargain you offered last time—I think I’d like to… sell it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. So, what are my payments?”
“You’ve been paid 1,000 Dm, and this won’t be multiplied since it’s a business payment. You’ve also received an additional 2% of all energy, bringing you up to 49%.”
Its final words were:
“Checkout complete. Closing store’s door.”
Gojin found himself back at the front of Sensei’s abode, holding a blue stone with a circular marking embedded in it. He placed his hands on it, expecting a reaction.
[Who would you like to grant Livas’s slave to?]
[Maximum count: 2]
“So you acknowledge the nickname I gave you. What a loyal entity. Please draw up the list.”
[Three options are available: (Kenji and Sakura) (Kenji alone) (Sakura alone)]
Gojin said with a wide grin:
“None, I have another thing to do with this.”
Gojin planned to do something mysterious instead of granting the two a “Slave.” It was unnecessary, as they could potentially grow stronger without it. Kenji was already approaching superhuman status, even if his skills weren’t at their peak cause of his lack of Ki.
He was about 40% superhuman, which equated to a human with 200% potential—something no human had ever achieved. With Kurozai within him, he might actually be the second strongest exorcist after Gojin as placed in the ranking.
Gojin decided to use the newly unlocked vault for the first time.
In a low, sinister voice, hinting at ulterior motives, he commanded:
“Open Vault…”
A white hole appeared before him, swirling and floating. He placed the emblem inside, and it closed instantly, effectively swallowing the emblem.
[Storage used: 1/1000]
Stored: Emblem
Gojin nodded in satisfaction.
“So, it’s basically like a phone’s storage.”
He turned to head back to the abode, but the night owls had begun their songs, a sound he found irritating. He couldn’t go hunting them one by one—could he?
Gojin dashed into the forest and climbed a tree swiftly. He caught a white owl by its neck, its dark-ringed eyes and long ears were visible under the moon’s light. He then hurled it into the air and obliterated it into feathers and blood with an outstretched hand, using the Ki tapping.
When Gojin handled the boulder, he unleashed his power without any hand motions, relying on a raw and instinctive use of his abilities. This indicates that he was able to manipulate the boulder with sheer force of will, tapping into a primal aspect of his technique and making it vanish out of sight along the way.
In contrast, when he dealt with the owl, he used physical gestures to direct his power, suggesting a more controlled approach. This shift implies that he had to focus more on the owl, breaking down its matter with deliberate intent.
This was more or less similar to his eyes, which allowed him to perceive and manipulate energy in a unique way, causing a wider arc of destruction.
“Owl in heaven, peacefully. Douchebag!” he sneered, racing back to the front door of Sensei’s abode.
Entering, Gojin saw Sakura and Kenji still focused on their food. He let out a groan as he decided to sit beside Kenji, who was nearly done. Just as Kenji was about to pop the last piece of meat into his mouth, it suddenly vanished. Nope, it was in Gojin’s hand. He threw it into his mouth, savoring the juiciness as it danced on his tongue before making a comment.
With a muffled tone, he said:
“Thanks for this extra one.”
Kenji stared at him with intensity, his hands covered in sauce. He felt tempted to smear it all over Gojin’s face but decided to let it go this time.
He replied:
“You’re welcome, food thief.”
Crossing his arms and looking away like a sulking child.
Sakura, unfazed by their antics, continued enjoying her meal. Sweet flavors filled her mouth, and every corner craved more.
Moments later, Sensei returned with a grin. “You should all get a good night’s sleep, as the details will be revealed to you once you wake up.”Sakura dropped her food and followed Gojin and Kenji as they headed to the top floor for a good sleep on comfortable beds… we hope.
After a four-minute walk down the staircase, they arrived on the floor to find numerous doors lining a narrow passage, illuminated by rows of yellow lanterns hanging from the ceiling.
They stared at the passage for a moment, contemplating which room to choose. There were too many options, and they wanted the perfect setting—nothing creepy.
Gojin’s instincts led him to a room marked “Living Hell.”
Intrigued, he decided to go in. The wooden door was slid open by him with a creak, and Kenji and Sakura peeked over his shoulder.
Inside, the room was barely half the size of his bedroom back at the Seren Palace. A chair carved from stone sat in one corner, and a small bed—six by six inches—was positioned behind it, just big enough for him to split if he wanted to risk two broken legs.
The only other items in the room were a single lantern and another uniform hanging by a wood, struck into the wall. There was no ventilation in sight as this was an underground, but somehow it was still cold.
Gojin shouted as he closed the door:
“Well, head to yours now. I need some special time with my living hell.”
Left to decide their fate, Kenji and Sakura exchanged glances.
Kenji suggested:
“How about we play a game to choose our rooms?”
Sakura nodded.
“Let’s play ’Jan-Ken’ (Rock-Paper-Scissors). The winner gets to choose first!”
They faced each other, their hands poised.
“One, two, three!”
They shouted in unison.
Kenji threw rock while Sakura threw scissors.
Kenji exclaimed, grinning:
“Ha! I win!”
“I’ll take the room on the left!”
Sakura pouted playfully:
“Fine! I guess I’ll take the one on the right.”
Their rooms were laid out similarly to Gojin’s, with just a slight difference: instead of a stone chair, it featured a wooden chair. The beds were also the same.
Soon after, they settled in for the night with a yawn. Gojin removed his blindfold; his runo was active, and his eyes would be shut anyway, so there was no risk, as always.
…
Kurozai remarked as Kenji was about to close his eyes:
“You know, back in my day, they said only the weak sleep.”
Kenji replied, his voice low and ending with a yawn:
“Yeah, that term still exists, and I’m one of the weak, so I’ll be sleeping more. Thanks for the reminder.”
Kurozai mused:
“Worthless brat.”
….
The next morning, as the sun began to rise, dew dripped from each plant like tiny bubbles. The air was fresh, and the scent of nature filled the space, signaling the start of another day, as it had been since the time of the Gods.
Standing on the wooden floor of the technique-free room were Gojin, Kenji, and Sakura, along with an unexpected guest—a warthog. They were unsure what it was doing there and how it got here, but that wasn’t their main focus at the moment.
Sensei stood before them, his iron rod resting on his shoulder, coiled around with the other hand.
He asked:
“Would you like to engage in a worthwhile adventure?”
