The reason why the chaotic soul mass outbreaks and chaos breaches had lessened in danger was because the Arcanists who could cause chaos breaches of such scale with their deaths, and the Ossuarists who could cause chaotic outbreaks of such scale by losing control, were all here.

The good. The bad. The crazy. The scheming. Every single one of them had separately, yet unanimously decided to come and seek opportunity in this world tear.

Word had spread fast about the insane opportunities lying in wait inside the world tear.

And now that Micah had entered the world tear himself and gotten to see it, he understood even more just how justified their actions were.

This world tear was massive. More massive and expansive than any chaos breach of any scale.

It was like a whole world inside here. Not a plane like chaos breaches. This place was a full large world just like theirs. In fact, it could be bigger.

And that was why it appealed to everyone.

All of that made sense. But what didn’t make sense was why, after he arrived here, seeing all the opportunities and looking to take advantage of it himself too, a directive had arrived for him specifically, ordering him to be brought to the new Soul Sanctum within the World Tear with immediate effect.

A Grade 1 Caretaker had even been sent to find him, deliver the order, and bring him to the Soul Sanctum.

He had arrived less than an hour ago, and to his surprise, had also met Isis here.

Imagine his surprise seeing his student, whom he hadn’t seen for more than a month, here inside the world tear, summoned just like he had been.

It was then he knew things weren’t so simple like he had thought.

Naturally, his first assumption was that he was being summoned to give account about what the Unraveling Incident that had happened back in Aethelos. But after seeing Isis, instead of that affirming his assumption, it only made him wary.

Micah’s attention refocused back on the present.

His attempt to lighten the mood had failed spectacularly, and Isis was still very much tense. The only thing he could do now was try to make sure that whatever happened — questioning or whatever it may be — he would be the one to bear the brunt of it.

The man in front of them, the Grade 1 Caretaker who’d brought Micah here, stopped after he reached one of the new metal chain bridges that criss-crossed the entire depth of the hole.

They were about midway down to where Micah assumed was the lowest point from what he could still see below.

So we’re not going all the way to the bottom then, he thought, nodding at the stoic Caretaker who stood rigidly, gesturing for them to head to the large door at the end of the bridge. It was welded into the wall, with no ledge aside from the bridge that led to it.

Micah went ahead first, testing the stability, then smiled at Isis in assurance, encouraging her to follow after him.

Together, they headed for the doors, and Micah pushed them open without hesitation.

A waft of cold air rushed at his face from the room inside, and the noise of his abrupt appearance drew the attention of everyone in the room immediately.

The room was vast, looking like some sort of tribunal. The door was at the back of the room, the highest point, from where the rest of the room sloped down in steps with rows of seats on them.

Micah strode forward, putting on a calm front, leading the way as the doors closed behind him and Isis.

“Micah Fugger, is it?” An old, authoritative voice spoke from the front below. “Or is it Feuguer? I don’t know which you prefer going by.”

The look on Micah’s face flickered slightly. These guys had definitely done their research on him. They knew his true family name and even the name he used as an alias.

Which meant his hunch was more than likely correct. This wasn’t going to be some simple questioning about the Unraveling Incident at all.

His eyes scanned the surroundings subtly. He took in the number of people seated here. They were all Ossuarists. High ranking Ossuarists too, from the fact that he couldn’t sense the depth of their immense soul energy emanations.

As his eyes moved around naturally, he spotted Yvonne, the female Caretaker who had been with him during the incident in Aethelos. She was seated alone at the front, facing the array of old powers who surrounded her on their high seats, as if she was being judged.

Yvonne? What’s she doing here? Micah doubted for a second. The thought about whether he’d been wrong in his assumption about their purpose here flickered in his mind. Was this truly about the Unraveling Incident?

He continued to descended the steps until he reached the ground floor where Yvonne stood, then stopped.

A fairly young woman in her late twenties, seated on one of the high seats stretched her palm, motioning towards two seats in different podiums next to Yvonne.

“Make yourself comfortable, you two. We’ve been expecting you for a while now.”

Micah looked towards the seats, then strode forward first, with Isis following after him. Her head was hung low, and she didn’t meet the eye of anyone as she walked forward to the podium next to Micah’s.

“Isis Perosperone,” the authoritative voice from before called, making her stiffen subconsciously.

As naturally as she could, she raised her head and looked up at the figure who had called her name.

“Yes…?”

“On which side do you belong?” The figure asked. It was an old man with the sides of his head shaved clean and the hair at the top of his head braided and cascading down his back.

He stared at Isis with a cold merciless look in his eyes, as if he was looking at a criminal about to be condemned.

Micah frowned the moment he heard the question, clearing his throat and speaking up immediately:

“She is my student… sir. I have known her since she began studying at the Seneschal Ossuarist School branch in Aethelos. I can vouch for her always. Her allegiance lies with the Ossuary and the Ossuary alone.”

His voice was firm and filled with conviction. He knew how situations like these went. That was just a move to throw Isis off. The man was targeting her weakness, and the true reason she had been meek ever since they began descending to this place.

It was something he’d only come to learn earlier this year himself.

The fact that her brother was a Harvester Cult member.
