“Indeed it is.” Malos laughed quietly. He looked at Li Yu. “What of the Sworn Brother of the Empire? Will you stay and enjoy the luxury of the inner palace?”

Li Yu looked out over the plaza. He saw the dancing flames, the flowing blue waters and the scars of a war that had almost claimed everything.

“No,” Li Yu said as his gaze drifted toward the dark horizon beyond the capital’s walls. “The food here is excellent but I find my feet getting restless. I will most likely head back on the road again.”

The grand wedding raged on into the night. It was a beacon of life and power in the dark expanse of the realm.
