Everyone Must Die!
“Death!”
Little Black never liked wasting words with others.
Once he had determined his target was someone that needed to be killed, he strode forward and charged directly at them.
“Damn, is he crazy?”
“This…”
“Doesn’t matter, get ready for battle!”
The two assassins at the front—a man and a woman—were precisely the pair of street performers whom Serea had seen when entering the city.
Their true identities were… assassins of the Assassination Star!
Arm Blade Thrust!
Little Black charged straight out, and because Serea’s consciousness was not entirely clear at that moment, she failed to notice that after a recent bout of slaughter, Little Black had already reached level 19 (Silver Elite), while the two leading assassins were only level 17 (Silver Elite), followed by eight level 15 (Bronze Elite) Assassination Star killers.
At this moment, wisps of black energy coiled around Little Black’s bones. After the recent bloodbath, some kind of unknown transformation seemed to be occurring within his body.
“Three-pronged attack, the rest flank around!”
Soth gave the group a look, and they nodded in understanding. Three killers moved to engage from the front, while the others closed in from the sides.
Just as they were about to make contact, Little Black let out a furious roar.
“Everyone! Must die!”
Fear Roar!
With Fear Roar unleashed, all the killers suddenly felt as if their minds had taken a heavy blow.
Terror shone in their eyes as they stared at Little Black.
Those with stronger willpower, like Soth and Aife, only froze for a moment before coming to their senses, but the others were still engulfed in fear, their movements a beat slower.
“It’s actually a war cry! The hell, is this guy even an assassin?!”
Soth cursed, but Little Black ignored them. Using the opportunity while they were under the mental effects of Fear Roar, he surged forward with accelerated speed—Fear Roar provided a variety of buffed attributes for his undead form.
He flashed to the three assassins, swinging his bone blades in rapid succession.
Blade Rend!
Squelch! Squelch!
Two sprays of blood blossomed as the two assassins, still lost in terror, were beheaded by Little Black before they could even snap out of it.
But as Little Black was about to land a third blow, one of them regained his senses.
He immediately thrust his poison-drenched throwing knife at Little Black.
At that moment, Little Black’s guard was wide open and he could’ve been easily struck.
Yet suddenly, he withdrew his bone blade with an eerily swift motion.
Block!
Clang!
He parried the assassin’s throwing knife, and his soul fire flickered.
Block Counter!
Thwack!
The bone blade pierced straight into the assassin’s chest, ignoring the laws of physics. Upon seeing this, the male Gemini killer cursed loudly.
“Bastard!”
He raised his longsword and slashed at Little Black, who turned his head ever so slightly and, upon spotting the incoming attack, leapt backward.
Phantom Veil!
Whoosh—gone without a trace. The assassins were utterly unprepared for such a move.
“What the— wasn’t this guy a warrior?! Since when did he have stealth skills?”
Seeing Little Black suddenly take out three of their own, Soth felt anguish—these were all elite killers of the Empire!
Due to a misjudgment regarding their enemy’s class, they had sustained casualties. But it wasn’t too late to remedy things. Now that they had a clear sense of his abilities, they became more vigilant.
“Use phosphorus powder to force him out!”
Upon command, the assassins pulled small pouches from their belts and tossed them. The pouches burst open midair, spreading faintly glowing powder in all directions.
The powder clung to Little Black’s cloak, forcing him out of stealth.
“We’ll tie him up, you guys flank!”
Aife ordered sharply, then she and Soth charged straight in, the others following closely behind.
Clang! Clang!
Bone blades met Soth’s and Aife’s longswords. The assassins were so fast that Little Black couldn’t evade, leaving him no choice but to meet them head-on.
A chance!
Seizing the moment, Soth stabbed forward, his blade aimed at Little Black’s chest.
With such a lethal attack, the enemy was bound to defend. Once he did, Soth’s partner could capitalize on the opening, possibly inflicting a serious wound!
Soth had his plan. With his and Aife’s coordination, achieving it was no issue.
The longsword thrust out—Little Black didn’t dodge!
“He’s not dodging?”
Soth was stunned. Little Black made no attempt to evade. Instead, he countered with a bone blade, targeting Soth’s chest with a move that invited mutual destruction.
If that’s how you want it, fine—who’s afraid?
After all, they had strength in numbers. Even if this enemy was seriously wounded, his companions could finish the job swiftly!
Targeting the heart, Soth thrust his sword, and Little Black’s bone blade also pierced toward his opponent’s chest.
Thud!
But only one sound of flesh being pierced echoed. Soth was dumbfounded; he hadn’t felt the blade hit anything solid.
Yet his sword had passed through the cloak, piercing into Little Black’s body. Why hadn’t it done any damage?
The answer was simple.
Through the torn cloak, the Gemini assassin saw pitch-black bones.
“Undead!”
He shouted, just as the blade had slid between Little Black’s ribs, piercing only the air where a heart should have been—but there wasn’t one.
“Death!”
With one blow, Little Black sent the man flying, leaving a deep, bone-revealing gash in his chest.
“Damn it!”
Aife shouted anxiously, slashing at Little Black’s head.
Rip!
The cloak was torn open, revealing all of Little Black and the soul fire glowing in his eyes.
“Retreat!”
They staggered back several steps, supporting the wounded Soth, while the other killers moved to entangle Little Black.
“Are you alright?”
“I can hold on, but this isn’t working. Get that out, now! Our enemy is a powerful undead. Unless we’re willing to pay the price, we can’t beat him.”
“But that…”
Aife hesitated upon hearing her partner refer to ‘that’.
“Hurry!”
Soth urged her. Aife nodded gravely.
“Alright, I’ll do it with you!”
She pulled out a small red box—inside were two black pills. Each took one.
In seconds, veins bulged on their bodies as surges of energy flooded their systems.
“Ugh!”
Little Black finished off another assassin just as the black aura around him grew thicker, almost tangible.
Bone blade raised, Little Black prepared to finish another killer.
“Die!”
Suddenly, two blades hacked down. Sensing danger, Little Black raised his bone blades in defense, but the combined force was overwhelming—he was sent flying far away.
Boom!
He crashed into a villa, his fate uncertain. Seeing this, Doruru cried out in worry.
“Lord Undead!”
Her shout caught the assassins’ attention. Soth gave an order.
“Capture that little girl! The undead is ours!”
At that, Aife and Soth flexed their wrists. Under the effects of the special pill, their entire bodies flushed crimson, evoking a terrifying aura.
Both were now level 17 Silver Elites, but with the pill’s boost, they could temporarily match a level 20+ Silver Elite—an entry-level assassin.
Although Little Black enjoyed the buffs from Fear Roar and Serea’s cloak, facing two drug-boosted foes and a crowd of killers, he had almost no chance to win.
No one noticed the growing density of black aura swirling around Little Black, nor the fact that the soul fire in his skull was shifting toward red.
