“I will.” Sophie’s voice was calm but firm. “If you like it, I’ll learn. I want to.”

Bruce blinked for a moment, caught off guard.

He tried to focus on the food, but Sophie’s scent, her warmth, her closeness, all of it blended together and made him feel strangely peaceful.

At one point, she accidentally smeared a tiny bit of omelette on his cheek.

“Oh, wait, don’t move,” she said, leaning in to wipe it with her thumb.

When her thumb brushed his skin, she whispered teasingly,

They both burst into laughter at the same time,
