Balthor stopped mid-chew. “He lost? Just like that?”

Noel nodded. “It wasn’t obvious to anyone else, but he froze up near the end. Just for a second. Long enough to let the hit land. It was too clean—too perfectly timed.”

Balthor leaned back. “So… my brother wasn’t bluffin’.”
