Chapter 28: Monster V (2)
After resting for quite a while, Lightnova and I finally stood back up.
I walked over to the wall.
Hmm… It should be here…
When I pressed my hand against the wall, the entire section split open, revealing a massive door-like entrance. Lightnova looked shocked when she saw it.
I turned to her.
“Is your injury feeling better now?”
Hearing my voice, Lightnova looked at me and smiled softly.
“Ah, yes… I’m fine now.”
I nodded.
We both began walking forward into a wide hallway. The corridor was enormous, stretching into the darkness.
We kept walking until we encountered several small slime monsters.
Just as I was about to use my powers to erase them, Lightnova rushed ahead and destroyed them first. All the slime creatures burst apart instantly.
I lowered my hand again.
We continued forward.
Eventually, we reached an area filled with dozens—no, hundreds—of slime monsters.
“Hah… This is going to be exhausting,” Lightnova muttered with visible discouragement.
“Looks like we’ll need to put in some extra work,”
I said.
And with that, we both charged in and began fighting.
The monsters swarmed at us from all directions. After a few minutes of nonstop fighting—and blowing apart wave after wave—we finally managed to slaughter them all.
“Phew… That was pretty exhausting, wasn’t it, Miss Lightnova?”
I said while catching my breath.
“Yeah… It really was. They just kept coming and coming, and then finally stopped.”
Lightnova replied while brushing dust off her uniform.
We approached a small door next.
When I opened it, I politely gestured for Lightnova to go first.
Honestly, I was worried something might jump out and attack me suddenly—I’d rather she be in front.
She should’ve gotten annoyed by that.
But when I looked at her face, she was… blushing?
Lightnova stepped inside the room without saying a word.
I felt a bit confused.
Well… whatever. Not my problem.
After she entered, I followed her inside.
The room was pitch dark.
Lightnova raised her hand and created a bright glow of light to illuminate our surroundings.
As we walked forward, we eventually saw a large, furry creature.
Finally, we had found it—the real Monster V.
A horrifying chimera created from the DNA of a grizzly bear, a T-rex, and a leopard.
This fight would be far more difficult, even with the two of us.
Ugh… I should’ve brought Min-seo, So-ah, and Kim Gae-in with me. Things would’ve been so much easier.
This was my mistake.
Lightnova stared at the massive creature.
“Miss Lightnova… From here on, the fight will be much tougher than the one earlier. I want you to listen carefully to everything I say—and follow it.”
Lightnova nodded immediately.
She understood.
“His name is Monster V. His only weakness is the lower part of his abdomen. I need you to aim all of your attacks at that spot.”
“Understood…”
she replied.
We split up and ran in different directions.
I used my powers to try to draw Monster V’s attention.
My dark-blue energy didn’t work on him at all, making it difficult to deal any real damage. Thankfully, I still had Yaroslav’s copied abilities.
I copied Lightnova’s light-based power and fired it at the monster’s thick fur.
Monster V turned toward me, obviously irritated.
His glowing red eyes—like a robot’s—locked onto me.
But he wasn’t a robot.
Just a terrifying hybrid monster.
He stood upright, towering like a T-rex, with razor-sharp teeth.
His legs resembled a wolf’s, and his fur was like a massive grizzly bear.
His face was a twisted mix of leopard and dinosaur traits.
His arms were bulky, coated in fur, his claws long and deadly.
—ROAAAAR!
He unleashed a thunderous roar. The entire room shook violently from the echoing sound.
My ears felt like they were going to burst.
I covered my ears and sprinted away.
Monster V charged at me.
I teleported to dodge its incoming strike.
From the distance, Lightnova sped forward with incredible speed, her glowing light sword shining so brightly that it illuminated the entire room.
Monster V’s attention immediately shifted to her.
Lightnova leapt forward and swung—cleanly slicing the monster’s head off.
But almost instantly… a new head grew back.
Lightnova froze in shock.
“What!?”
Just like the webtoon described—Monster V’s regeneration was insane.
Any attack was meaningless unless it hit that lower abdomen area.
Monster V swung immediately at Lightnova.
She couldn’t react in time.
I used Kim Gae-in’s wind ability and sent a strong gust to deflect the monster’s attack.
Then I followed up with more wind blasts.
Right before my attack hit him, Monster V dodged at a frightening speed.
He was unbelievably agile.
Lightnova’s eyes widened—shocked that such a massive creature could move so fast.
“Hit its lower abdomen! I’ll keep him distracted for you!”
I dashed toward the monster again.
Lightnova regained her focus, returning to combat mode.
She prepared to aim for the weak spot.
I activated Min-seo’s lightning power.
Electricity burst from my body.
Running with lightning speed, I darted around Monster V, sending bolt after bolt at him.
I knew it wouldn’t hurt him, but I needed his attention.
“Hey! Over here!”
Monster V turned to me and roared again, furious.
He slashed at me with his claws.
I barely dodged with lightning movement.
Lightnova flew like a beam of light, her sword pointed straight at Monster V’s lower abdomen.
Her blade struck true—piercing deep into the weak spot.
Monster V let out a blood-curdling scream.
Lightnova tried pulling her sword out… but it wouldn’t budge.
She started panicking.
“It won’t come out! I can’t pull it out!”
“Then just let it go!!”
I shouted.
“I can’t!! My hand—my hand won’t release it!”
Oh no…
This was NOT what I planned.
Monster V raised his claws to strike Lightnova.
I teleported right beside her and shoved her away with all my strength.
She was finally freed from the sword.
But—
“Gahhh!!”
My shoulder was slashed by Monster V’s claws.
A deep cut tore through my flesh. Blood splattered everywhere.
I teleported away instantly and collapsed onto one knee.
Lightnova’s eyes widened, filled with shock and guilt.
Her expression twisted with pain as she watched me bleed again.
“Miss… Lightnova… I’m sorry… From here on… please handle the rest…”
Using the last bit of energy I had left, I teleported straight home.
*Lightnova’s Side*
’No… No… Indigo got hurt again… because of me…’
A mix of anger, regret, and crushing sadness tore through Lightnova’s mind.
She stood up, gripping her light sword tightly.
Her eyes grew cold—deadly cold.
“Die…”
“You must die…”
Her voice was calm, emotionless, but filled with killing intent.
Monster V tilted its head—confused.
It swung at her, but Lightnova dodged without even blinking.
She kept walking toward it, slowly, calmly.
Monster V attacked again—again—again.
Nothing hit her.
A creeping fear spread across the monster’s face.
Lightnova’s movements were quiet. Precise.
Her expression remained blank, but her aura radiated pure death.
The monster trembled, stepping backward.
Lightnova’s sword began glowing red—bright, violent red.
Monster V’s eyes widened in horror.
“Die… You must die…”
Her voice was cold and empty.
She took her stance.
Then—
With a blinding flash, Lightnova moved at light-speed.
Only this time, the light was crimson.
She slashed Monster V’s body into pieces.
Though the monster regenerated, she kept cutting.
Piece after piece after piece.
She wasn’t aiming for the weak spot.
She wasn’t trying to kill it.
She was torturing it.
Red light streaked across the room as she carved the monster apart faster than it could regenerate.
Monster V screamed in agony, unable to react.
Unable to fight back.
Unable to heal.
Lightnova’s face remained emotionless—cold, terrifying.
Her sword carved through flesh repeatedly.
Limbs flew.
Fur and flesh scattered.
Even as the monster’s body parts wriggled and attempted regeneration, Lightnova prevented every attempt.
After relentless punishment, Monster V’s severed hand desperately reached for its own lower abdomen—pointing at it repeatedly, as if begging Lightnova to end it.
Lightnova stopped.
Her glowing red eyes narrowed.
She looked at the monster—then at the pile of mutilated flesh behind her.
Monster V was barely alive.
Barely regenerating.
Barely holding itself together.
Then—
Lightnova slashed the lower abdomen cleanly.
The monster instantly disintegrated into ashes.
Silence.
Lightnova blinked.
Her sword returned to normal.
Her eyes returned to blue.
“Huh…? What… what just happened…?”
she murmured.
She looked around and saw Monster V’s remains, decayed and unable to regenerate.
“What… was that? I felt dizzy for a moment… and blacked out…”
She looked at her own hands.
“Just… what happened to me?”
*Indigo’s Side*
I teleported to my house
I landed in the living room of my house, my body covered in wounds and blood.
“Oh my God!! Oppa!! What happened!!”
So-ah shouted in the living room.
Hearing So-ah’s scream, Kim Gae-in, Min-seo, Lee Donghyun and Lee Mira came out of their rooms.
“Oh my gosh, brother!!”
Their faces all looked panicked and afraid of losing me.
They immediately took me to the medical room.
Meanwhile, I am currently unconscious due to running out of energy.
