Chapter 47: The Villain’s Home, and the World That Turns Against Him
Some time later,
we finally arrived at the house.
Elvera and I stood quietly in front of the door to my home. For a brief moment, I hesitated. Elvera was a Hero—or rather, a former one—but the habit of caution still clung to me. This place was filled with Villains, people the Hero Association would never accept. I couldn’t help but wonder whether she would feel uncomfortable living under the same roof as us.
Without realizing it, I glanced sideways at her.
She looked… excited?
Ah… I wasn’t entirely sure, but her expression was unmistakably bright, almost as if she were holding back anticipation.
“You look excited, Miss Elvera,” I said casually.
She flinched, clearly startled by my comment. Her cheeks instantly flushed red, and she quickly turned her face away.
“A-ah… uhm… no, it’s nothing… Please don’t mind me,”
she muttered, her voice soft and flustered.
I tilted my head slightly. I didn’t really understand what was going on with her, but I decided not to pry.
With a faint smile, I spoke again.
“Alright then, Miss Elvera. If that’s what you want.”
I reached for the door handle and opened the door.
The moment it swung open, I was greeted by two familiar faces—Kim Gae-in and Min-seo—both of them frozen in shock upon seeing me standing there.
Then, in the very next second, their shock transformed into joy.
“Oppa!! We missed you so much!!”
Before I could react, the two of them rushed toward me and wrapped me in an extremely tight embrace.
“W-wait—!”
The sudden impact almost knocked me off balance. I barely managed to stay standing as their arms crushed against my ribs.
A-ah… I swear, my bones are about to break…
These two really had absurd physical strength. Honestly, they were perfectly fit to be Villains.
“A-ah… could you two let go for a moment?” I said weakly.
“We have a guest… someone who’s going to become part of this family.”
At my words, the two of them immediately loosened their grip and stepped back. Their expressions were filled with excitement and curiosity.
I gestured toward Elvera.
“Please, come in, Miss Elvera.”
She nodded slightly and stepped inside with careful, hesitant movements.
“H-hello, everyone… My name is Elvera… I’m a former Hero…”
The reaction was instant.
Kim Gae-in and Min-seo stared at her with wide eyes, clearly impressed. Before they could say anything, voices suddenly echoed from the living room.
“A former Hero!?”
“A former Hero!?”
Lee Donghyun and Lee Mira appeared, peeking around the corner with sparkling eyes. The moment they heard the words “former Hero,” their excitement skyrocketed.
They quickly walked over to Elvera, curiosity written all over their faces.
Elvera stiffened as all eyes focused on her at once. She looked visibly nervous.
“U-uhm…”
Soon, they began chatting, bombarding her with questions and comments. Surprisingly, Elvera slowly relaxed as the conversation continued.
I watched the scene quietly, a sense of warmth spreading through my chest.
After a moment, I cleared my throat and removed my mask, holding it in my hand.
“Ahem… by the way,” I said casually,
“Miss Elvera is actually older than me.”
The reaction was explosive.
“What!?”
everyone shouted in unison—everyone except Elvera.
She scratched her cheek awkwardly.
“U-uhm… yes… that’s true. I’m thirty-two years old…”
For a brief moment, silence filled the room.
Then chaos followed.
I smiled faintly.
Yeah… moments like this were good. Happiness like this didn’t last long, but it was enough to calm my mind—if only for a while.
Not long after that,
inside one of the guest rooms in my house—
Park Hyun-Woo was standing beside the bed, his hands glowing faintly as he used his ability to suppress the poison inside So-ah’s body. He had brought her here, believing this place was safer than anywhere else.
“How is she?” I asked quietly.
Park Hyun-Woo glanced at me.
“Ah! Hyungnim… she’s still in a coma. Did you manage to get the antidote?”
“About that,” I replied calmly,
“I brought the one who created the poison… and the one who can cure it.”
I stepped aside.
Elvera moved forward, her expression serious.
Park Hyun-Woo immediately recognized her.
“M-Miss Elvera!? Why are you here!?”
“The explanation will be long and complicated,” Elvera said softly,
“but right now, the most important thing is saving this poor child.”
Understanding the urgency, Park Hyun-Woo stepped back.
Elvera approached the bed and gently sat beside So-ah. She slowly stroked So-ah’s head, her movements careful and tender.
A soft blue light began to glow from Elvera’s hand.
So-ah, still unconscious, suddenly winced as if she were in pain. Her body trembled slightly.
I watched with bated breath, my hands clenched unconsciously.
After a moment, Elvera stopped and turned to look at me.
“I’ve retrieved the poison,” she said calmly.
“She’ll wake up.”
The anxiety that had been crushing my chest finally vanished at her words.
Behind me, Kim Gae-in, Min-seo, Lee Mira, and Lee Donghyun all looked visibly relieved.
Park Hyun-Woo stared in awe.
“That… that’s incredible.”
I let out a deep sigh of relief.
Just as we were basking in peace and happiness,
Lee Donghyun’s phone suddenly rang.
A notification.
He quickly pulled the phone out of his pocket and checked the screen.
His eyes widened.
“Hyungnim…”
I turned toward him.
“What is it? Why do you look like that?”
Everyone’s attention shifted to Lee Donghyun.
He showed us the screen.
A news article was displayed.
[Following the devastating attack in New York, the United States has suffered massive losses. Citizens have begun protesting the incompetence of the Heroes, questioning their inability to stop a single Villain.
The President of the United States, James Arthur, stated:
“I will offer ten million dollars to anyone who can capture or kill the Villain known as Indigo Reign.”]
My body trembled slightly.
Ten million dollars…
So that’s how much my head was worth now.
“Huh… so the whole world is coming after me now,” I muttered.
Everyone slowly turned to look at me.
“Oppa… you’re such a troublemaker,” Kim Gae-in said bluntly.
That one hit straight to my heart.
“Oppa, you’re seriously a mess,” Min-seo added.
Damn it… they’re going to bully me again.
Suddenly, someone wrapped their arm around my right arm.
It was Elvera.
“Oh my~ don’t bully Master Indigo like that,” she said playfully.
I froze.
Huh… don’t tell me Miss Elvera is going to join the competition too?
“N-Nona Elvera! What are you doing!?” Kim Gae-in shouted, her voice filled with jealousy.
“You’re older than Oppa Yoo!”
“Oh my~ even so,” Elvera replied with a teasing smile,
“I’m still a virgin, you know~”
Oh hell…
She just threw gasoline on the fire.
Min-seo, Kim Gae-in, and Elvera began glaring at each other, their chests practically colliding as they stood their ground.
From a man’s perspective—including mine—this was dangerously close to paradise.
And objectively speaking… Elvera’s was the biggest.
“Hehe~ such little ones,” Elvera mocked lightly.
“What did you say!?”
Min-seo and Kim Gae-in shouted simultaneously.
Blue lightning crackled around Min-seo’s body.
A violent wind swirled around Kim Gae-in.
Green poisonous mist enveloped Elvera.
The three of them crossed their arms, power radiating outward.
I… had absolutely no idea how to stop this.
Suddenly—
So-ah sat up in bed.
Everyone froze.
Her body was surrounded by blue flames, her eyes burning with determination.
“You think you can fight over Oppa in front of me?”
“Don’t even dream about it.”
She joined the standoff without hesitation.
Lee Donghyun and Park Hyun-Woo slowly walked over to me.
“Hyungnim… you’re really popular with women,”
Lee Donghyun said.
“Yeah, hyungnim,” Park Hyun-Woo added.
“They’re ready to fight to the death over you.”
I let out a long sigh.
This was truly troublesome.
Then—
My phone rang.
I pulled it out of my pocket.
I already knew who it was.
The crazy CEO.
Eun-bi.
Park Hyun-Woo glanced at the screen and smirked.
“Oh~ looks like our Hyungnim is even more famous among women of high status~”
Ah… damn it.
Why are they all obsessed with me…
And why do I have to live like this!?
