Chapter 54: Madness of Another Kind (2)
“Healing magic is far weaker than the Incantations used for recovery. Even after casting it on you, you shouldn’t have woken up yet… let alone fully recovered.”
Suddenly ..
Her expression darkened.
Her arms wrapped around his neck.
Then, with terrifying force ..
She strangled him from behind.
His tongue slipped from his mouth as the pressure tightened.
“What exactly are you hiding? How did you recover this fast? What were you doing with Moon last night? How did you end up in that state?!”
In an instant, Luna reverted to the hostile version of herself he had met before.
Her grip tightened as she bombarded him with questions, her voice ringing violently in his ears.
“My sister Moon did this to you, didn’t she?! Those wounds .. they’re from her sword! Tell me! What did you do to make her attack you like that?!”
Her thoughts had spiraled far beyond reason.
Ethan tried to break free .. but her strength was overwhelming. Far beyond what a mage should possess.
’I’m a knight, and she’s a mage… how the hell is she physically stronger than me?!’
he thought, unable to speak.
Luna smiled—a chilling, knowing smile—as if she had read his mind.
“You’re wondering where this strength comes from? I used a spell to enhance my physical power. Enough to crush someone of your pathetic beginner level.”
Her voice grew colder.
“You’re not going anywhere until you answer all my questions.”
With each passing second, Ethan’s face turned bluer.
He could no longer breathe.
’This insane bitch… how am I supposed to answer while you’re strangling me?!’
He raised his mechanical arm instinctively, grasping at empty air.
There was nothing to grab.
But then ..
He pressed a hidden trigger.
A small opening formed at the tip of his Legion arm.
From within it, a grappling hook shot out, attached to a black cable. It pierced the distant wall with incredible speed.
Then, with a single motion of his finger ..
Ethan pulled.
Before Luna could react , Both of them were violently dragged forward.
They slammed into the wooden wall with tremendous force.
The entire room shook.
The impact forced Luna to release him.
Ethan immediately retreated, gasping for air.
“You… you’re completely insane! How many times are you going to try to kill me?!”
he shouted, coughing violently as the marks of her hands burned across his neck.
Luna stood as well, staring at him with that same terrifying gaze.
“Perverted filth has no right to speak. Your voice pollutes the air.”
She looked ready to attack him again.
Ethan panicked.
He knew he couldn’t defeat her.
He might not even escape.
“Training! We were training with swords under your grandfather Asterion’s instruction!” he shouted, squeezing his eyes shut as she prepared to strike.
His words stopped her.
She froze.
“…Training with my grandfather?” she said, stunned.
Then suspicion returned to her eyes.
“Why do I feel like you just made that up? Why would my grandfather accept someone like you?”
“Spare me your nonsense. I don’t have the energy to convince you,” Ethan replied, clearly at his limit.
Luna fell silent.
Her eyes moved slowly ..
To the red marks her hands had left on his neck.
Then to the cracked wooden wall.
It took her a moment.
Then her body tensed.
Her hands rose to her head.
“Damn it… I did it again…” she said, her voice completely normal .. nothing like the terrifying tone she had used moments ago.
Then she quickly curled in on herself, bending forward as if shrinking beneath an invisible weight.
Seeing her reaction, Ethan spoke cautiously.
“Do you have split personality disorder or something? Maybe I wasn’t wrong when I called you insane…”
At first, Luna shot him a frightening glare that made his heart skip .. but it lasted only a second before she let out a long sigh.
“I’m sorry… I lose control sometimes. Without warning.”
She apologized.
Unexpectedly.
Ethan stared at her for a moment before slowly rising to his feet.
“Let me guess… this only happens when it involves your sister Moon?”
He asked.
She nodded, confirming his suspicion.
’She completely loses herself whenever Moon is involved… is this what they call a yandere or something?’
Ethan wondered, having just witnessed something he had never believed could exist in reality.
’As I thought… I should stay away from this girl.’
“Please… don’t tell Moon about what happened here. I promise I’ll compensate you,” Luna said politely.
Ethan sighed, exhausted from the chaos.
“There’s no need for compensation. Just… try to keep yourself under control.”
Luna didn’t answer immediately.
She took a few seconds before nodding weakly.
It did little to convince him.
Before they could continue ..
They were interrupted.
From the doorway, Ethan noticed two small heads peeking inside.
Both had red hair.
The first was a boy … no older than five.
The second, a girl of the same age.
They looked nearly identical.
Twins.
“Sister Luna… are you okay?”
“We heard a scary noise… so we came to save you.”
They spoke in perfect unison, their voices impossibly adorable.
’Cute,’ Ethan thought blankly, his expression unchanged.
Meanwhile, Luna ran toward them immediately.
“Star! Sol! Didn’t I tell you never to come here?!”
She raised her voice slightly, causing them to shrink back in fear.
“W-We were worried about you… Sister Luna…”
They spoke together again, clinging to each other.
Luna melted instantly.
All her seriousness vanished.
She embraced them tightly.
Meanwhile, Ethan’s expression didn’t change at all.
The same thought crossed his mind again.
’Cute.’
It was almost absurd .. how he could think something like that while wearing such an emotionless face.
Luna squeezed them affectionately.
“Why are you two so adorable? You’re like angels in human form… I still can’t believe we share the same parents.”
“I agree with the last part,” Ethan added from the side.
Luna immediately turned toward him, furious.
“No one asked for your opinion!”
The exchange drew the twins’ attention toward him.
Curiosity filled their eyes.
“Sister Luna… who is that man?” the boy asked.
The little girl added excitedly ..
“He’s handsome!”
“…What?”
Luna’s expression twisted completely.
“He’s not handsome. He’s a perverted monster who chases women. We need to run before he targets us too.”
She picked them both up ..
And fled immediately.
Leaving Ethan standing there, completely baffled.
“…As I thought,” he muttered internally.
’I need to stay away from this girl.’
