Gu Yifeng left the Marquis Mansion and encountered the doctor that the Guo family men had brought back from outside at the gate of the East Courtyard.

The men of the Guo family greeted him ceremoniously. Gu Yifeng nodded and stopped, raising a hand to point, “Who is this?”

“This is the doctor that Madam instructed to be brought back from outside,” the Guo family man replied quietly.

Originally, it was Hailan who went out to find someone. The Guo family man followed her, but Hailan had something come up midway and instructed the Guo family man to bring the person back first, which led to Gu Yifeng encountering them.

The Guo family man didn’t really know what was going on, so when he saw the Marquis, he did not hide anything.

He instructed Li Si to bring in the doctor. Separated by a curtain, Lin Youning only extended her hand. After examining both wrists, the doctor stood up respectfully.

“Madam is simply too weak. Her increased appetite is due to the medicine that stimulates appetite,” the doctor said, then asked if medicine should be prescribed.

Lin Youning said nothing; instead, Shanmoi spoke on her behalf, “Thank you, doctor, for making the trip. Medicine isn’t necessary; please follow me outside.”

After speaking, Shanmoi curtseyed again.

The doctor quickly insisted he didn’t dare take credit and followed Shanmoi out.

Lin Youning emerged with a helpless smile, “Looks like I overthought it. It was indeed about the medicine. Brother, aren’t you hungry too? Let’s have the meal served.”

Gu Yifeng pulled her to sit beside him, “It’s nothing. If you feel something is wrong, call a few more doctors to take a look.”

“That won’t be necessary, lest Aunt starts worrying,” Lin Youning smiled wryly.

Gu Yifeng didn’t press further. The meal was soon ready, and after dinner, the two strolled leisurely in the courtyard. Lin Youning, feeling somewhat fatigued, forced herself to stay energetic.

Gu Yifeng had things on his mind. Having intercepted the doctor today, he naturally found himself distracted when facing Sister Ning. Lin Youning, also being tired, didn’t notice.

She stepped outside to greet her, heading towards the meeting spot.

The two met at the entrance between the front and rear courtyards. Dong Boyun looked plumper than before her marriage, but she was livelier. Spotting Lin Youning, she hurriedly ran forward, alarming her maids to hasten their steps.

Lin Youning supported her, examining her belly, “You’re about to become a mother, and still moving around like this.”

Dong Boyun merely laughed, “It’s fine, the pregnancy is stable. I’ve been wanting to visit since hearing you’ve returned. If it weren’t for my mother-in-law saying you might still be recovering, I would’ve come earlier.”

Once they settled on the couch and had the servants bring fruits and snacks, Lin Youning dismissed them.

“When did you write?” Lin Youning, surprised, responded, “Thanks for thinking of me. This matter concerns both families; what opinions do I have? I just live my own life.”

Though her elder brother had made many promises, such things couldn’t be articulated. Lin Youning didn’t say it, but her expression was sweet. Dong Boyun, whose marriage was also currently harmonious, understood well.
