During this momentary stasis, the spear—which should have been swift and unerring—had not yet reached its target before it was engulfed by the corrosive Dragon Breath and then cleaved by Pafila’s Fission Chain Strike.

Before the astonished eyes of Dragons and Elves, the divine spear split in two. The Decayed Dragon God then flicked the halves aside with its claws, sending them shooting into the depths of the desert.

I’m relieved.” She had initially thought David might even sacrifice his chance at godhood to annihilate those Elves. If David had forcibly ignited his divine fire using the Sword of Ascension she provided, he would have merely become a Demigod within her powerful divine family. In any situation where there was a choice, this would be the most foolish and shortsighted act.

This was David being modest. Lizrite, also a Red Dragon, would be relatively fine. However, if cold-aspected Silver Dragons like Attilicia or Alicia rashly approached him, they could literally be roasted alive. This was a power comparable to one of the world’s fundamental forces that Pafila wielded—a power capable of elevating a mortal to divinity.

As a mere Legendary, igniting the Fusion Flame made him feel like a child swinging a nuclear launch device; a single mishap could obliterate his own territory and followers…

“…Alright.” Attilicia, who had more than one close call with being accidentally killed by her own offspring, sounded somewhat resigned. She swished her tail as if remembering something, then said to David, “But what I wanted to tell you is that this elven attack was likely just a diversion.”

David asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he had anticipated this, “So, the Chosen of God was rescued?”

“Not at all,” Attilicia scoffed, lifting her somewhat injured right claw with evident heartache. “The moment the fortress was attacked, I moved her to my demiplane. But it seems they had already calculated its location. Using the Astral Plane as a relay, they broke into my demiplane and still managed to retrieve her.”

David, however, seemed entirely unconcerned. He shook his tail, an expectant smile playing on his lips, “No problem. It’s just one Chosen of God, after all.”
