That was how long it had taken Priya to stop second-guessing the approach and start understanding the woman.

She had also, Priya noticed, starred the ones she wasn’t supposed to do.

“’This one,’” Meera said, stopping at the map near the entrance, pointing. The teacup section. “’You spin the wheel in the center yourself, so I control the intensity.’”

“’You are specifically spinning the wheel as fast as it goes,’” Priya said.

“’I am going to spin it moderately,’” Meera said.

“’’Moderately’ from the woman who has four starred rides on her not-allowed list,’” Priya said.

Meera had the specific expression of someone who has been accurately described and is choosing not to confirm it.

Vikram was already walking toward the teacups with the expression of someone who has accepted their fate.

Her phone buzzed.
