Downstairs, he spotted Yin Rou preparing to leave the hall. She brightened when she saw him and greeted cheerfully,

Her expression was no longer dark as before. Perhaps a good night’s rest and the pills Li Feng had help her recover her body and mind somewhat.

Seeing the young girl more relaxed and cheerful, Li Feng couldn’t help but smile. “Are you heading to the guild?” he asked casually.

“Yes,” Yin Rou replied with a sweet smile. “I plan to resign and pack some of my things from there.”

Li Feng nodded, a thought flashing through his mind. “Then let’s go together. I can help if you’ve got heavy things to carry.”

Since the sect tournament would begin tomorrow, he didn’t have much else in mind for the day anyway.

At his offer, Yin Rou frantically waved her hands. “S-Senior, there’s no need to trouble yourself—”

But before she could finish, Li Feng took her small hand and led her out.

She was accepted. And for a moment, she felt hope again.

The lodging was at least better than hay in a stable. She was given a cramped dorm room shared with ten others, thankfully all girls but they bullied her constantly, dumping all the chores on her.

And the so-called “teaching” was little more than a half-hour recording played once a day, the guild doesn’t seem to concern whether the apprentices have any question or understood at all.

The rest of the time, she was sent on endless errands until her body ached and her mind dulled. Nights brought little rest.

It was only when she was assigned to help move materials for an assessment that she saw something that changed her—an actual alchemist refining a pill before her eyes. For the first time, she witnessed someone actually success and passed the assessment. Her despair-clouded gaze lit up as though bewitched seeing the way he refine his pills.

At that moment, she decided to take the chance…preparing to offer her everything.

And she was glad she had…,

Her thoughts drifted as she let Li Feng’s warm hand guide her through the streets.

“What are you thinking about? We’re here,” Li Feng said, releasing her hand before casually pinching her soft cheek.

“E-ehh…” Yin Rou’s mind snapped back, her face flushing red.

“Want me to go in with you and help pack your things?” Li Feng asked, still teasing her cheek before letting go.

With both hands covering her face, she stammered, “N-no need, Senior! It’s not much, I can handle it myself!” Then, flustered, she rushed inside.

Watching her small, hurried steps, Li Feng couldn’t help but chuckle. But as his gaze dropped to his hand, his smile faded slightly. “This girl’s a bit too skinny…” he muttered. His smirk returned almost instantly. “Guess I’ll have to fatten her up. Rabbits taste better with some meat on their bones.”

He leaned back against the wall outside, waiting lazily with Goldie.
