Max stood on the shattered ground, his neck craned upward as he looked at the towering Susanoo before him. Thena sat within its crown, her silhouette outlined by radiant white chakra.
But his mind was elsewhere, still reeling from the truth she had revealed.
I died in her future… but how? Why did I leave them? Who was I fighting?
And for Thena to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan… she must have endured unbearable pain.
His thoughts shattered the moment his instinctals screamed.
Max leapt away just as the Susanoo’s massive fist slammed down where he’d been standing, detonating with a thunderous boom. The shockwave tore through the landscape, uprooting trees and flinging debris high into the air.
Landing on a treetop, Max cupped his hands and amplified his voice with chakra.
“Thena! I don’t know what happened in the future, but we can talk this out!”
“I don’t want to talk about anything with you!” Thena’s voice thundered from inside the Susanoo. “Just hand over your eyes, and this will be over!”
“You should know very well that I won’t give them up,” Max shouted back.
“Yes, I know,” she replied coldly. “But I was giving you one last chance to end this peacefully. Now I know what I have to do.”
A massive blade of white chakra materialized in her Susanoo’s right hand, its edge humming with killing intent.
Max exhaled, lowering his stance. “Then I’m sorry, Thena… but you leave me no choice.”
The blue aura around him faded as he deactivated the Gates, his chakra shifting to a darker, heavier tone. The ground split beneath him as his Perfect Susanoo erupted into existence—a towering blue warrior that mirrored Thena’s in both size and power.
A colossal katana appeared in its right hand, chakra thrumming along its blade.
For a moment, silence.
Then both titans charged.
The earth quaked violently with each step, and the air between them distorted from sheer pressure. When their swords finally met, the world erupted in light—a brilliant flash followed by a deafening shockwave that obliterated everything within hundreds of meters
Far away, deep beneath the trembling ground, Zetsu scrambled toward the exit with Terra slung over his shoulder. The base groaned and shook violently with every impact echoing from outside.
As soon as he reached the surface, he froze.
In the distance, two colossal figures clashed beneath the torn sky—one burning white, the other blue. Their swords collided again and again, each strike sending waves of energy rippling through the clouds.
Even from this far, Zetsu could feel the force behind each blow.
He let out a low whistle, his golden eyes reflecting the chaos.
“So this is how powerful Max truly is… but that other one—she’s going toe-to-toe with him using the same ability.”
A crooked grin crept onto his face.
“I’d better savor this sight. I doubt I’ll ever see a fight like this again.”
Zetsu set Terra down carefully and sat on a nearby rock, folding his arms as the sky flashed in the distance
The two towering Susanoo collided with a thunderous boom, their unused fists meeting mid-air. The shockwave tore through the battlefield, uprooting trees and splitting the ground.
Both giants stumbled back.
Thena’s hands flashed through a rapid sequence of seals. “Wood Style: Deep Forest Bloom!”
The earth convulsed. From below, colossal vines—each as thick as a building—burst upward, writhing toward Max’s Susanoo.
“Tch.” Max frowned as the vines coiled around his construct. His Susanoo swung its blade in sweeping arcs, slicing through dozens at once, yet for every one that fell, two more rose to take its place.
Then, out of nowhere—
Shing!
A massive white arrow slammed into Max’s Susanoo’s chest. The impact rang out like thunder, cracks spider-webbing across the armor as the giant staggered backward. The vines seized the opening, wrapping tighter, binding his Susanoo in place.
Max’s gaze snapped upward.
High above, Thena’s Susanoo had drawn another arrow, energy crackling along the bowstring.
“This is going to get problematic,” he muttered, before vanishing in a blur of chakra.
The arrow fired—piercing his Susanoo’s head clean through. The giant construct shuddered before crumbling, dissolving into shimmering fragments of blue energy.
Max landed lightly on the ground, just as massive wooden tendrils lunged at him from all sides.
“Almighty Push!”
A powerful repulsive wave exploded outward, blasting the tendrils away and carving a crater in the soil. Max clapped his hands together, his Rinnegan pulsing with light.
A pitch-black orb floated up from his palm, rising into the sky like a miniature moon.
Another arrow whistled down from above—he sidestepped it, the projectile burying itself into the earth with a booming shockwave.
Max landed again, hands clasped. “Planetary Devastation!”
The world trembled. Rocks, trees, and debris ripped free from the ground, drawn upward toward the black sphere as it grew denser, heavier, hungrier.
“Tch…” Thena clicked her tongue in irritation. Her Susanoo raised a glowing hand, three white Magatama forming in its palm.
“Yasaka Magatama!”
She hurled them skyward. The projectiles streaked through the air and collided with the forming sphere—BOOM!—a cataclysmic explosion shattered the half-formed satellite. Debris rained down like meteors.
When Thena turned her attention back—
Max was already infront of her.
His body crackled with power, lightning wreathing his form as his Seventh Gate burned bright and Haki shimmered faintly across his limbs. His foot outstretched in a kick.
BAM!
His kick struck the crown of Thena’s Susanoo, piercing clean through the armor. The shockwave of the impact rippled out, shredding clouds above. The force continued through the construct, slamming into Thena herself.
“Guh—!” She coughed blood mid-air as her body shot out of her Susanoo, crashing violently into the ground. The earth tore open, a long trench marking her path before she finally skidded to a stop.
Dust billowed.
For a moment, silence. Then, shakily, Thena pushed herself up. Her wounds knitted rapidly, steam rising from her skin.
Max landed in front of her, his aura dimming slightly. “Stay down Thena. It’s over.”
“It’s not over…” she growled, blood dripping from her lip. “…until I say so!”
Her hands blurred through another set of seals.
“Wood Style: Wood Golem Jutsu!”
The ground quaked violently as a massive figure rose behind her—a wooden titan, its eyes glowing with primal energy. Thena leapt atop its head, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth. Three clones appeared beside her, nodding silently before vanishing in a body flicker.
Her chakra surged again. A gleaming Susanoo enveloped the wooden giant, layering over it until the battlefield shook beneath its weight.
What stood before Max now was a monstrous Wood Golem clad in ethereal white armor—a god of both flesh and spirit.
Max exhaled slowly, almost tiredly, before raising his palm. “So that’s how it is, huh?”
He slammed his hand to the ground. The earth cracked, heaved—then erupted.
From the abyss below, a colossal shape rose, bound in chains and covered in jagged stumps.
The Gedo Statue.
It let out a deafening roar that split the sky.
Max’s eyes narrowed as his own Susanoo flared to life once more, layering over the Gedo Statue until the fusion stood as a towering colossus cloaked in spectral armor.
He called it the Majestic Attire Gedo Statue.
On one side, Thena’s Susanoo-armored Wood Golem.
On the other, Max’s Susanoo-clad Gedo Statue.
Two gods of destruction stood poised, ready to clash on command.
On Max’s command, the Gedo Statue’s mouth opened wide, a deep hum echoing through the air as a pitch-black sphere began to form within. In mere seconds, the mass of compressed chakra ignited, radiating ominous power before being fired straight toward Thena.
The wood dragon coiled around her Susanoo-clad Wood Golem reacted instantly—its wooden jaws unhinging as it swallowed the Tailed Beast Bomb whole. The creature’s throat bulged grotesquely as the sphere of annihilation traveled down its length before being transferred into the Golem’s right hand.
With a thunderous roar, the Wood Golem hurled the Tailed Beast Bomb back toward the towering Gedo Statue.
Max’s construct didn’t flinch. The Susanoo-clad Gedo Statue swung its massive arm in a devastating backhand, deflecting the bomb away with a shockwave that split the air, before lunging forward to grapple with Thena’s Wood Golem.
The two titans collided, the force of their clash making the earth quake and the clouds above spiral violently.
Meanwhile, the deflected Tailed Beast Bomb screamed across the sky — and directly toward the base.
Zetsu looked up just in time, his eyes widening.
“Ah, you’ve got to be kidding me!” he hissed, snatching Terra’s unconscious body and throwing her over his shoulder before sinking into the ground.
The bomb streaked overhead, passing just above the hideout, before colliding with a distant mountain range.
A moment later—
BOOOOOOOM!!!
The explosion engulfed the horizon, a black dome of energy expanding outward and erasing the mountaintop in an instant.
When the light faded, Zetsu slowly rose from the ground, wiping the sweat from his brow.
“Damn… that was close,” he muttered, glancing at the distant plume of smoke.
