Vandra lowered her head at those words, instantly backing out. Draksis, on the other hand, clicked his tongue in annoyance, he did not like how he was being talked to as if he was a subordinate.

Kael, however, did not care about what he thought, he instead turned towards the Council Elders.

“Elder Aelindra, Elder Tarevian.”

He called out.

The Warden of Provisions and the Voice of the Commonfolk turned towards him and Kael nodded at them politely,

“Please begin the shifting process immediately. Empty the assigned quarter. Move its residents into the remaining quarters according to the lists you prepared.”

Aelindra nodded, her mind already beginning to calculate. Tarevian’s jaw clenched; he still seemed unsure but he knew it was happening and nothing could stop him. He too took out the list he and Aelindra had prepared after working all night and began reading it silently.

“I will return with the Stonefangs,”

Kael spoke, his words creating a wave of ripple that moved through the crowd. Many, even some of those who stood on Vandra’s side just now and supported Kael, seemed nervous.

“How long would it take?”

Morvain asked, trying to get back at least some form of control.

“In six hours at the earliest. It may take longer if things don’t move according to the plan.”

Kael answered politely, his voice now seemed much different since he was talking to the Matriarch.

The people didn’t notice it and found it natural but both Lavinia and the Matriarch herself instantly realized he was trying to compensate for her loss of power.

It was honestly quite a demeaning move, but they both knew Kael wasn’t doing it with that thought in his mind, he just…

He just wasn’t ready to accept the complete power now falling on his shoulders.

In the end, Morvain nodded back at him and—

She ordered.

And he is doing just that.”

He then turned towards Draksis and a disgusted look appeared on his face—

“Though there are still some blind fools trying to stop him, fools who would shamelessly and willingly take everything our God offers but would never acknowledge him, but then again—

That is simply how greedy and vile a human mind is.

And our God is too merciful to not even react to it.”

The man sighed, lowering his eyes as he looked at Draksis with pity now.

Draksis, who noticed that look, wanted to say something but then—

“That is enough.”

Vandra spoke up.

“Did you not hear what Lord said?

No fights.”

“As you command, Lady Vandra.”
