Chapter 15: The Dream
Michael dreamed of a giant mountain, bigger than anything he had ever seen in his life. The mountain pierced through the cloud layers, above which were colossal beasts each the size of a small mountain.
They attacked each other, each blow carrying a terrorizing force that flattened forests. This magnificent scene, even though it was just a dream, left a deep impression on Michael.
From above the cloud layers, a giant shadow fell down like a meteor smashing into a giant dragon. A terrifying shockwave cracked the ground open, sending earth and rocks flying across the sky.
The dust cloud dispersed to reveal the form of a giant entity. He looked quite human-like but had six arms. The muscles on his body, each bundle solid, were like a perfect sculpted statue.
He turned his head, revealing sharp teeth, a fierce and ferocious face like an evil god that made people tremble in fear.
That giant dragon was actually stunned by a single blow from the giant. His hands were sharp like knives, slicing a few lines that cut the dragon into sections.
He took out a long stick, skewered the pieces of dragon meat, then blew out a flame from his mouth.
The moderate intensity of the flame cooked the meat without burning it. Of course that scaly skin wasn’t edible because that stuff was harder than iron.
Suddenly the giant looked towards Michael. At this moment Michael discovered that he could actually fly freely in this dream. Because of this, the oppressive feeling the giant brought him skyrocketed to a new level.
Terrifying… Excessively terrifying!
This terror feeling was as if he was truly facing a god. A god of true power, not the kind of useless god like him.
Suddenly the giant grinned, his face becoming much less scary. Then he brought the piece of meat as big as a hill in front of Michael.
“Traveler from afar… Want some?”
Just speaking normally, but the sound he made was even more frightening than the roars of those giant monsters.
Michael trembled, his body consequently flickering like an image from a broken television.
The fear enveloping him now made him not dare to disobey the giant’s request. He slowly flew closer, touching the piece of meat.
The piece of meat shattered, the space cracked open, everything following that slowly faded away including that giant and Michael himself.
Before completely disappearing, that giant only left one sentence.
“I am the best cook!”
—
“Damn it!”
Michael suddenly opened his eyes wide, immediately alertly looking around. Only when he saw just Leo’s bewildered face did he feel at ease and let out a sigh of relief.
That was so fucking terrifying just now, clearly a dream but he felt it was no different from reality. That pressure like the whole world was pressing down on him really made him unable to breathe.
“Hey, did you get hit in the head by a rock until your brain broke?”
Leo looked at Michael with a gaze full of suspicion. Michael waking up earlier than expected made him a little surprised but the key issue was his current state.
You didn’t need to be too sharp to clearly see the horror carved into every line of his face right now. Was almost drowning really worth being this scared of?
Death was indeed scary but at least Leo didn’t think it could scare Michael into becoming like this. That’s why he asked that question.
“Your brain is the broken one! If you don’t know how to talk then don’t talk.”
Michael cursed, his mood now considerably more relaxed. Of course there was still no way to throw thoughts of that giant out of his mind.
“Leo, are there any stories in this world about giants?”
He also didn’t think someone who just arrived here three years ago would know many stories but still asked with that mindset.
“Huh? Giants?” Leo didn’t know why he suddenly asked this but he also seriously thought about it.
The time he had been exposed to this world’s culture wasn’t much, he had never read any fairy tales or anything. So he could only shrug then shake his head as his answer.
“But why are you asking that? Have you seen a giant before?” Leo curiously asked.
He felt Michael wouldn’t suddenly ask about an unrelated topic like that. There must be some reason inside.
If giants existed it would have great significance. If he had such a huge, powerful comrade, wouldn’t his dream be easier to accomplish?
“I saw it in a dream.”
Even though Michael wasn’t very clear about what just happened, the fact that it was a dream was also true.
“A dream???”
“Clearly your brain got broken by that rock hit.”
Leo pursed his lips showing disgust. If you saw it in a dream, what’s the meaning? He could dream too. Don’t say just one giant, ten could easily be dreamed up.
“Your brain is f*cking broken! I haven’t even settled the score with you about earlier yet?” Michael snorted a sound.
Even though now he didn’t pay much attention to this matter because his mind had been fully occupied by a bigger shock, it didn’t mean he completely let it go. Just now he almost drowned. Not just once but twice!
“Ha ha, I don’t think I was wrong. Now you know how to swim, proving my training was very good. Moreover, I also helped you learn how to avoid attacks while underwater. You should thank me. Don’t forget I’m the one who saved you from drowning.”
While talking, Leo pointed his thumb towards himself, his face parallel to the sky full of arrogance. This posture was as if saying: “Why don’t you kneel down and thank your great benefactor.”
Michael gritted his teeth with a grinding sound, his facial muscles twitching with anger. The small wound on his forehead that hadn’t healed yet started bleeding once more.
Leo really was a genius! With just a few sentences he successfully kicked the giant out of Michael’s mind. Now Michael had only one thought left: to beat Leo up.
“You bastard, if you’re a man then don’t run!” He raised his fist, charging straight towards Leo.
