Chapter 35: Cook God
Even though this place was a consciousness space, it wasn’t only Michael’s consciousness that could influence it. The giant’s consciousness could do the same thing. The giant considered the wind real, so Michael found it very hard to think of it as fake.
But Michael’s brain was still very flexible. The wind wasn’t fake, but who was stopping him from adding another rule?
’My body can pass through the wind, my body can pass through the wind…’
Michael repeated that phrase in his head and it actually worked. His body stopped in mid-air no matter which direction the wind blew. Having stabilized his body, he immediately flew right up to the giant’s face.
“How come I don’t see you surprised at all? Normally, one isn’t supposed to awaken until twelve, but I awakened at six years old, you know.”
If this giant was a god, then it wasn’t strange that he knew more secrets about the world than a normal person.
“What’s so surprising about that? Your soul originally didn’t belong to this world, so you just had to pay the price with your lifespan to awaken.”
The giant picked his ear, acting indifferent and like he didn’t want to talk about this. His gaze fell on the dragon that had been split in two lying on the ground.
“Want to eat dragon meat? I’ll show you the caliber of the continent’s number one chef.”
“Dragon meat?” Michael muttered, suddenly remembering what Leo said and the drooling look he had back then.
“Hey, my friend said when he awakened, he was also invited to eat dragon meat. Do you know who that god is?”
“A god? And he invited your friend to eat dragon meat?”
The giant froze for a second, then the corner of his mouth curled up slightly. Just from hearing that, he knew who the other party was. Among the gods, the one who could do something like this besides him was only one other person.
“Was it a panda?”
“Huh? You know him?”
Michael asked just for the sake of it. Looking at the giant’s expression and tone, it was clear the two of them had a decent relationship.
“Of course. A Cook God being close with an Eat God isn’t incredibly easy to understand?”
The giant replied, tilting his face up arrogantly as if wanting to show off his own cooking ability.
’What the hell? This thing is Cook God? A face fierce as a devil, bulging muscles with six arms… No matter how you look, he doesn’t resemble a Cook God.’
Michael’s eyelids twitched slightly. He only dared to curse inside his heart and not say it outright in front of the giant before him.
’System, is he really Cook God?’
[The system detects the host is overly reliant on the system. From now on, a new rule is added. Only those extremely close to the host will the system reveal detailed information.]
Son of a bitch, what’s this about me being overly reliant? In three years, I haven’t even asked you one hundred questions.
’Then what information exactly can I learn about strangers?’
[All information that person intentionally conceals, the system will not reveal. Of course, if the opponent inadvertently reveals their strength even for a moment, the system can provide information about their level.]
[When the host first arrived on this continent, system assistance had looser limits to help the host adapt. That information all belonged to intelligence and it cannot be provided to ensure fairness for others.]
What’s this about ensuring fairness for others? You think I’m playing a game? One slight mistake and I could lose my life.
Though unhappy inside, Michael couldn’t refute anything. If he refuted, it would only prove he was an idiot who didn’t understand human speech.
’Then what exactly can I see using the system?’
[The host can ask the system to help view the current status of close individuals. Additionally, when the host encounters low-intelligence existences, the host can freely use the system to view information. The amount of information the system can provide depends on the importance of the thing the host wants to see.]
Hearing this, Michael reluctantly felt the system still had some use. Otherwise, he felt like he was carrying an AI chatbot that aside from chit-chat couldn’t do anything.
Cook God looked at Michael’s erratic, changing expression and felt very suspicious. The expressions, though different, none of them seemed positive, which made him think Michael doubted his ability.
“You damn bastard! You can doubt my strength, but you cannot doubt my culinary talent. I am the continent’s number one chef!”
His six hands were immediately covered by a layer of energy, thin but incredibly sharp. Even a dust particle falling on it would be split in two.
“Let me show you what art is!”
He stomped his foot on the ground, the earth shaking violently. Trees were uprooted and flew into the air, the two parts of the dragon’s body were no exception.
The six arms interweaved, taking turns working. The movements were like a perfect, flawless automated process. From handling the ingredients, skinning, cutting leaves, everything was incredibly smooth.
Michael stood nearby watching this performance without blinking. Though he didn’t know how the taste would be, the performance part deserved five stars.
Cook God took a deep breath and blew out a whirlwind. The whirlwind made the pieces of meat spin around, suspended in the air without falling. He continued using his hands to cut and shape them into beautiful dragon meat fillets.
Then he blew another breath, this time not wind but a blazing hot flame. The flame followed the whirlwind, roasting the meat on every surface, leaving no spot untouched.
Though there wasn’t any seasoning at all, Michael could now clearly smell the aroma rushing up his nose. Having lived two lives, he had never smelled a fragrance that could make him drool uncontrollably like this.
Michael took a deep breath. The fragrance in the air made him understand why Leo’s expression back then looked so crave-inducing. The more he smelled it, the more he wanted to try the taste of this legendary creature.
Suddenly, he felt something was wrong. The fragrance gradually disappeared, then changed to the smell of burnt meat.
