Tyranitar—its entire body cloaked in green, armor-like scales, with jagged spikes jutting from its head, neck, and shoulders, and a row of smaller spikes decorating the tip of its tail—truly resembled some kind of mythical kaiju!
Its large size radiated an overwhelming pressure. While its body had plenty of weak points, Tyranitar remained a staple of competitive battles due to its excellent bulk and unique ability!
Just like a rampaging monster, Tyranitar blasted Hyper Beams in all directions. Although Tyranitar wasn’t native to the Unova region, Pokéstar Studios in Virbank City did have movies starring a mechanical Tyranitar.
Come to think of it—wasn’t that basically Mecha-Godzilla?
Of course, later generations did release two actual Mecha-Godzilla Pokémon: Duraludon and Iron Thorns.
Tyranitar was just the vanguard. Behind it were even more Pokémon from Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, leaving Sherry completely dumbfounded.
“These Pokémon obviously aren’t from the same region…”
“Who knows anymore?” muttered a male Ranger beside her, holding his forehead. “It’s obvious this experiment went way too far off the rails.”
Hikaru, who had just arrived, remained silent.
This might’ve had something to do with those dancing Rotom…
He looked up at the three Rotom on his head, still jerking around in their bizarre, twitchy dance. Thankfully, Yui had already recalled her gentle Rotom, meaning they hadn’t hit the four-Rotom combo needed to trigger a group skill… yet.
The Rangers were scrambling to catch the Pokémon running rampant, but Hikaru noticed something strange—many of them didn’t even have Capture Stylers.
“Capture Stylers? That kind of tech isn’t standard issue,” one Ranger replied.
“We’re Rangers under the Unova League. While we also take orders from the Ranger Union, we’re technically more like forest rangers. The Union’s Top Rangers can call on us, but we don’t usually accept missions from Almia.”
Sherry explained the distinction—between Pokémon Rangers as a trainer class, and Pokémon Rangers as a dedicated profession.
“Pin down Tyranitar! Altaria, use Dragon Breath!”
Sherry’s partner was an Altaria. Though birdlike in appearance, it was in fact a Dragon-type!
But Tyranitar, being a Rock-type, instantly summoned a ring of sharp stones as soon as it spotted the flying Altaria—Stealth Rock!
Rock-type moves were especially effective against Flying-types. Altaria’s Dragon Breath was swiftly overwhelmed by Stealth Rock. The dragon quickly ascended to avoid further attacks—but Tyranitar immediately turned its gaze to Sherry instead.
What the heck—it couldn’t hit a flier, so now it was going for the Trainer instead?!
“Whoa, it’s targeting the Trainer directly?! This guy must’ve just been caught!”
Only wild Pokémon usually attacked Trainers. If a Pokémon had spent time with a Trainer, even when agitated, it rarely turned hostile toward them.
A storm of stones blasted toward Sherry and Hikaru. Sherry reacted fast, pulling Hikaru out of the way. In the sky, Altaria countered with another Dragon Breath, this time hitting Tyranitar’s back. The behemoth was clearly annoyed—but its focus didn’t waver.
It was locked onto the Trainer.
“Hmm, a Stubborn-natured Tyranitar,” Hikaru muttered, analyzing.
This type of Pokémon, once it picked a target, would chase it down relentlessly. It also gained bonus damage on physical attacks.
His Lilligant had the same nature.
“Altaria, use Dragon Dance! Then Dragon Breath!”
They had been spamming Dragon Breath to paralyze Tyranitar, but Tyranitar just grinned—and used Protect!
Followed by another Stone Edge!
Altaria took a direct hit and was left heavily wounded. With the dragon down, Tyranitar turned back toward the Trainers!
CLANG!
A massive golden shield materialized and blocked the barrage. Behind Hikaru, a Poké Ball burst open, and Aegislash emerged in all its glory. Its single eye rotated forward, locking eyes with Tyranitar.
“Uuh?”
The moment Tyranitar saw Aegislash, it felt a suffocating pressure—as if this giant sword was born to command Pokémon. Its rebellious nature flared up. The thrill of battle surged within it again!
This wasn’t just rage—it now had a real opponent.
But Aegislash wasn’t planning to give it that satisfaction!
The sword glowed with spectral light—it looked ghostly, but was in fact a Fighting-type move—Sacred Sword!
Recently, Aegislash had come up with an idea.
Iron Head had great power, but drained stamina. Pairing it with a healing jelly worked—but what if there was a stamina-free, weaker version?
There was! Flash Cannon!
But Flash Cannon wasn’t Aegislash’s style. What if it combined Iron Head’s technique with Sacred Sword to create a super-powered Steel-type sword slash?
Wait—that sounded just like Behemoth Blade!
Aegislash had always wanted to learn that sword technique but had been told it was Zacian’s exclusive move—something only a hero-king could use.
But now? Aegislash had received Arceus’ blessing—it was a king now! Surely it could give it a shot?
Aegislash began charging, engulfed in radiant Steel-type energy!
Hikaru blinked. “Wait, weren’t you going to use Sacred Swor—WHA!? Hail, Calibur?!”
Aegislash’s blade transformed into a Steel-type greatsword. After a double-charge, it lunged at Tyranitar in a savage cleave!
Sacred Sword: Hail, Calibur!
Tyranitar panicked, activating Protect. But the massive blade slammed down, causing the light barrier to crack under the pressure of Aegislash’s explosive Steel energy!
Protect was failing!
When the power gap was this wide, even the “invincible” Protect could shatter!
“GROOAARR!”
CRACK! The green barrier shattered—and Tyranitar took the full force of the Steel-infused Sacred Sword!
Direct hit! The move now had both Steel and Fighting attributes!
In Pokémon history, only one move had ever been considered dual-typed—Hawlucha’s Flying Press, which was both Flying and Fighting.
Aegislash checked its stamina.
Perfect! By compressing Iron Head’s steel force into Sacred Sword, it avoided stamina loss. As long as the steel wasn’t discharged, Aegislash was fine!
Another new move learned—Aegislash really was a genius!
Its ribbon-like arms curled into a thumbs-up.
Tyranitar—defeated!
The beast collapsed with swirls in its eyes. Hikaru mused—if this really did deal both Fighting and Steel-type damage, it meant a 6x weakness to Tyranitar’s Rock/Dark typing!
No wonder it dropped like a stone—”This is what 100,000 lives can’t tank,” he chuckled.
“Alright, I’ll handle the pacification next.”
Sherry stared at Hikaru in awe, while he pulled out the Mystic Branch he’d earned from the Illusion Forest.
This branch boosted Psychic and solar powers, and was technically a magical tool.
Holding it in one hand, he began tracing radiant arcs in the air—eerily reminiscent of the Capture Styler’s motion. But this was just Hikaru playing around.
Channeling the sun’s light, he invoked a spell of peace. Sunshine gathered from the dawn sky, descending like magic rain over the frenzied Pokémon.
In an instant, the Pokémon that had escaped from the transport factory all stopped fighting. They looked upward, basking in the sunlight. Their anxiety and fear melted away.
Nearby Rangers looked up, hands outstretched as sunlight filtered through gloves and into their skin, soothing both body and spirit.
This was the power of the Solar King—a gift to bring calm and mutual trust between Pokémon and people.
At the same time, the Blue Crystal began to glow. Cold, but gentle.
“What… what is this light?” Sherry whispered, stretching out her hand.
She looked at Hikaru in awe.
There were extraordinary people in this world—and now she understood. The traveler before her was one of them.
“Time to perform.”
Hikaru slung his Ukulele around his chest and began to strum.
Plonnng~
Magical melodies filled the air, drawing in every ear. The Pokémon’s ears perked up immediately.
This music—steeped in knowledge he’d gained from the musicals—was irresistibly charming. His Rotom trio twitched along with electric sparks, like awkward little music angels.
Pokémon from every region gathered to the sound. Even Tyranitar, having been revived by a Revive from Aegislash, stirred and slowly rose. The song resonated within it, easing its notorious temper.
So comfy…
Tyranitar tried to scratch its face—only to find its arms too short. It lowered its head awkwardly, looking like a child admitting it was wrong.
“Incredible… the Pokémon are opening their hearts to him! Without even needing a Styler!”
“This guy is more of a Ranger than we are… he’s like Almia’s Top Ranger!”
As Hikaru continued playing, Pokémon from all over rocked to the rhythm. When the music climaxed then faded, the Pokémon clapped, danced, flapped their wings, or chirped joyfully in their own ways.
“Alright everyone, let’s head back inside. I’ll walk you home.”
The Pokémon obediently followed him back into the factory, glowing with joy and trust. No more fear or unrest. The place no longer felt cold or alien.
“They actually went back… you’re amazing!” Sherry gasped, eyes full of admiration. Rangers surrounded Hikaru, whispering to one another. While some had seen psychics before, none had seen someone connect with Pokémon like this.
“Come to think of it… didn’t something like this happen in Pinwheel Forest? Wait a sec—was that you?!”
One Ranger suddenly recognized the story. Excited murmurs spread.
Meanwhile, Hikaru escorted the Pokémon back to the broken machines inside the facility, where Dr. Andrew Park stumbled out of a pile of junk.
“Ah! The Pokémon came back! This is wonderful!”
His glasses were shattered, and he sat dazed on the floor. The Pokémon he was trying to transport had burst out of their special blue Poké Balls and pelted him with attacks.
This experiment had failed spectacularly. Pokémon were scattered all over the place. Tyranitar was the first out—but he hadn’t sent it!
Tyranitar loomed over him, exhaling hot breath.
“S-Sorry! Your appearance was a total accident! I promise this won’t happen again!”
Hmph! Tyranitar was clearly annoyed—he’d been napping! Nobody even asked before teleporting him!
“Who are you?!”
“Thanks a lot! Eh? You’re not a Ranger, are you? But the Pokémon all listened to you…”
Park wobbled like a top, ready to fall over. Hikaru sighed—clearly not everyone had Professor Oak’s durability. That man once tanked an exploding toilet in the shorts, after all. True superman of Pallet Town.
Only Kukui could maybe compare.
Park, sadly, was no Spider-Man. Far from it. He inspected the machines—all ruined.
“The device is wrecked! What was that anomaly…?”
“Ahem, may I take a look? I’m good with machines.”
Hikaru figured this might be his fault—after all, the Rotoms were his. Their wild dancing must’ve caused the temporal anomaly.
“You know hardware?” Park pushed up his broken glasses. “If you can help, that’d be amazing! We only need to fix this one. The others don’t matter!”
He pointed to the central device—where a strange bow and a blue Poké Ball rested.
The Blue Poké Ball—a special design unique to the Transport Factory, capable of catching and transporting Pokémon through time and space. In the games, this was used with a shooting mini-game involving the bow to transfer Pokémon.
“No problem. I’ll check it out… software side too.”
“I’ll reset the program—you handle the hardware!”
