“Now that everyone’s gone… still want to keep acting?” Logan asked coldly.

He really couldn’t be bothered to explain. After all, he wasn’t relying on fame to live. As long as his strength was enough, what did a ruined reputation matter? Just like how, in the real world, a rich man’s words were taken as truth.

“How can you call it acting? I was really crying from the bottom of my heart, you know~”

Green winked, her tone syrupy sweet, her body language coy as if shy.

But Logan really didn’t believe a girl like her could be genuinely shy. After all, someone who could so casually throw around words like “pregnant” and “abortion” was hardly the bashful type.

“Your so-called innocence is worth far less than my reputation. And besides, we aren’t that close, so stop calling me so intimately,” Logan replied, leaning back against Gabite without any urgency, as though nothing had happened.

Seeing how calm Logan was, Green actually grew a bit uneasy.

“It’s not a good habit to measure a girl’s innocence with money,” she teased softly. “We might not have been close before, but now we’ve met, haven’t we? Soon, we’ll be very close~”

She giggled playfully and stepped a bit closer. A faint floral fragrance wafted into Logan’s nose.

“I have no desire to get closer to a liar and a thief. And as for your innocence—you never lost it here. But my reputation? You ruined that,” Logan shot back, eyes narrowing slightly as he studied her.

The girl looked around his age, skin pale and smooth, figure alluring, her playful manner incredibly tempting. Seeing the earlier righteous outrage of those men, Logan mused they were probably also half angry and half jealous that someone this beautiful had supposedly been ‘wronged.’

“Ehh?! Don’t tell me you’re actually interested in me?” Green exclaimed, feigning shock as she hugged her chest dramatically.

“Everyone isn’t that gullible. Once they think it through, they’ll realize I was lying. At most, your name might appear in a few gossip columns—it won’t really ruin your reputation,” Green reassured him sweetly, as if it were all no big deal.

It was oddly funny—she was the cause of it all, yet she was the one comforting him.

“And you, Miss Liar, aren’t afraid of getting caught?” Logan asked.

“Don’t call me Miss Liar—just Green will do~~ Besides, I won’t stay in Cerulean City for long. Even if they realize I scammed them, what can they do? By then, who knows where I’ll have run off to. Still, I really must thank you, handsome—if your Gabite hadn’t scared them off, I’d have had trouble getting away.”

Green’s eyes sparkled with sly gratitude.

“No need to thank me. After all, it’s partly my fault you got exposed, so of course I’d help clean up,” Logan smirked.

“You’re so kind! So, as thanks—” Green leaned in closer, her delicate body swaying enticingly, her gaze lowered and lips softly biting, as though shy about saying what was on her mind.

Just as Logan waited to hear what she’d say next, Green’s expression suddenly turned cold and sharp: “…Now’s my chance!”

In one swift motion, she threw out a modified Poké Ball. Instead of a normal flash of light, it erupted like a smoke bomb, engulfing Logan’s vision.

Logan didn’t bother to speak. Beside him, Gabite sucked in air and unleashed a powerful wind that blew the smoke away. Logan’s ears caught the splash of water—and he saw Green now astride a Wartortle, blowing him a playful kiss.

“…Bye, handsome! Thanks again! Next time, I’ll give you a special reward~”

Cerulean City’s waterways were complex, and Wartortle’s Surf was swift. Once she got around the bend, it’d be nearly impossible to track her down.

“Think you can get away?” Logan murmured.

From his belt, he took out a Poké Ball. With a flicker of psychic power, it floated into the air—then vanished from view.

“Psychic powers?!” Green realized in shock. She tensed, scanning the canals ahead.

Sure enough, hovering above the water in her path, the Poké Ball reappeared—releasing a Dratini.

“Little Turtle, careful! Watch out for Dratini’s Thunderbolt—we’ll charge past before it attacks!” Green shouted urgently.

She’d seen Logan’s battles and knew Dratini could use Thunderbolt. If Wartortle got hit, it would be badly hurt and escape would be impossible.

“Wartortle!” her partner barked, speeding up.

“A clever idea… but who said Dratini only knows Thunderbolt? Dratini, use Ice Beam—block her path!” Logan commanded.

Dratini’s mouth glowed with chilling blue light. Instead of aiming directly at Wartortle, it fired ahead—freezing a solid wall of ice across the canal.

“Little Turtle, slow down—careful!” Green panicked.

But Wartortle, at top speed, couldn’t stop in time.

BANG—!

With a heavy thud, Wartortle’s head slammed into the ice wall, cracking it. Green, unseated by inertia, was flung forward—landing painfully on the stone bank beside the water.

Her limbs burned from scrapes and bruises, but before she could rise, a looming shadow fell over her. Logan had already closed the distance, Gabite at his side.

Gabite’s claw, turned so only the dull back struck, slammed gently yet firmly into the girl’s slender neck.
