After telling the elder everything that had happened, the old man couldn’t help but frown.

He paused before continuing grimly.

“Feel free to do so,” Grandpa Ju replied with a nod. “I’ve already set up a barrier. No one else can hear us.”

“Alright.” Kranos took a breath. “I discovered that the man possessed a type of Gu worm—the second kind I mentioned. The so-called immortal body wasn’t truly immortal. Its weakness was the Gu worm itself. No matter how unkillable the body seemed, the worm had a fragile point. I destroyed it… and he wasn’t able to regenerate anymore

Grandpa Ju nodded thoughtfully at Kranos, narrowing his eyes slightly. That was such a brilliant idea. Previously they didn’t think about this but now with this knowledge they would at least know a spot to target.

Without another word, Grandpa Ju turned to his grandson. “Go and gather Ko and the others. We have one final battle to fight together.”

Ju Ming’s expression hardened. “Yes, Grandfather!” He spun and ran from the room without hesitation.

Ko, Ming, and Tu—those were his grandfather’s old comrades from the battle ten years ago. While some had perished from grievous injuries, Ko and Ming had survived. Ming, in particular, was the one who’d set up the array protecting the safe haven to this day.

Though Ju Ming hadn’t visited them in years, he still remembered where they resided.

After giving his orders, Grandpa Ju addressed the remaining elders. “All of you—go and prepare for battle. Meet me outside the array.” As soon as the elder finished speaking, his figure rapidly blurred, his speed was so fast that Kranos could barely keep up.

Kranos decided to follow along but he didn’t dare step out of the barrier, he didn’t want to receive another gaze from the demon. This time he might really die. He didn’t know if he had a chance to rebirth again. This might just be his final death.

Using his space element, Kranos flashed rapidly through the city. The City Lord’s Mansion was purposely built near the array’s location to provide rapid reinforcement. Upon arriving at the edge of the array, Kranos sat down cross-legged and entered meditation, waiting for the others.

A few minutes passed.

“Young man, how’s the outside world?” a voice suddenly asked from beside him.

Kranos’s eyes snapped open, instantly alert. He turned to his right and found Grandpa Ju standing calmly beside him, staring into the distance.

“What outside world?” Kranos replied, feigning ignorance.

“You don’t need to pretend,” the old man said with a chuckle. “I know you’re not from this world. Your profound techniques and mysterious skills… they resemble them. And that robe—don’t think I didn’t recognize the design. You all belong to a certain sect, don’t you?”

Kranos couldn’t help but smack his forehead internally. “how did you know?” Kranos asked. Even with the few clues he’d let slip, it wasn’t something the average person could deduce.

“That’s right,” Grandpa Ju said with a nostalgic look. “When I was a young boy, I saw people in robes just like yours. Back then, they brought cultivation techniques, spirit herbs, and all sorts of resources. They changed our world. Thanks to them, mortals like us could finally cultivate.”

Hearing the old man’s words, Kranos was shocked; he didn’t think his seniors would do such good. He seemed to not have brought anything. Well, he didn’t know, he didn’t respond and just kept silent. “Old man, are you still telling fairy tales to children at your age?” a woman said with a laugh.

“Ming!” Grandpa Ju turned and smiled warmly. “It’s good to see you again. I thought the next time we’d meet would be in the afterlife.”

Ming smiled faintly; she too didn’t think they would battle one last time. “Don’t worry, old man, i will watch your back like i’ve always done,” she replied with a casual smile.

Grandpa Ju laughed heartily; Ming was still as funny as always…

“Won’t you introduce me to your child? I see what you’ve been doing all these years.” ming said turning to look at Kranos.

Grandpa Ju smiled slightly, then spoke, “this is Kranos. He is… not from this world, just like the others back then,”
