“War?”
He had gotten too caught up in survival, the he had forgotten that the king declared war on the day he died for everyone else. Was his father able to adapt to the news that day? Is he able to withstand this war?
Is his home kingdom still standing, or was it captured?
He frowned, ripping the page where it spoke about the war, and crumpled it, throwing it with anger at the wall. He had expected that with ranking up, he could break the wall with it, but awkwardly, nothing happened.
He cleared his throat, brushing past as if nothing had happened.
If the war was still going on, then it was most definitely happening near the border, where the Withered ended and where he was captured. The bad thing is that he was young at that time, and so he didn’t remember the way there. If he wanted to help, he had to find a way to do it inside the Withered.
Since even if he got to the border, he would likely not be able to kill any of the Blue Rose’s soldiers. But he did wonder if he could somehow sneak past and find a way out. He doubted, the Withered had a massive wall that went around it, amplified by the King’s truth.
Truths are powerful abilities, more powerful than any you would get, as we have seen from the ones who have gotten them, those being, awakeners who have reached the Breaker level. Which is why so few have one.
Becoming a breaker is impossible, or at least that is how it feels, as the last people who have been able to do it were a cohort… the members being all the kings of the world. It was strange knowing that the leaders of the kingdoms everyone lives inside now are ruled by people who were once friends.
If he remembered correctly from his father, they were one of the first to awaken, and so they had formed close bonds, even forming a school and guild for others who wanted to climb higher in the world.
They were also the first to discover what Trial of Salvation were, and the first to clear them. His father used to tell him how, after he awoke, the world became a wonder, beautiful with many stories. But to this, he doesn’t understand what he meant by it.
Their cohort became known by the world, with many starting to follow them, and so, the world became their kingdom… but after reaching the maximum sync when they were Harbingers, they had found a problem.
There was no Trial.
And so many considered that this was the pinnacle of strength, and only rank could rise.
His father used to tell him how that period of time was one of the calmest times of his life, since at that point, he had already lived over eighty years, and since a reader’s life rises with each class and rank, he was still very young.
But it all fell apart when one of them found a relic with a class they didn’t recognize. A class higher than harbinger.
…
But how?
That was the question everyone asked. There was no trial, so how?
It’s simple to him, since he lived in a period where everyone knew how to become a Breaker, even if one can achieve it, that is how hard it is.
The Codex revolves around the truth hidden by the Gods inside the Infinite Library, and with each class, you learn more about it, the truth hidden from humans.
But… doesn’t the Codex enfizise changing the ending of stories, their truth?
…
To ascend to a Breaker, you have to find a way to break order in the world, and your own world, even if it wasn’t hard enough. You can’t choose how; your truth is fixed, you can’t die, find a way to come back, and say that you went against the order.
Since that isn’t the truth you believe in.
To become a Breaker, you have to find your truth and then reinforce it in the world. To create your own world.
This was also the point where the cohort broke, yet his father wished not to say why.
It’s something he had to find.
…
…
He wondered what his truth was, but he doubted he was ever going to find it. So did that mean he was never going to find a way to create his own world?
“A pointless ramble.”
He walked outside, his bare feet feeling the wet stone of the Withered. It had been a while. It actually made him smile slightly.
He walked through the streets of the Withered, reminding himself of his time here, many memories with him and his teacher coming back to him.
…
And now knowing her story, it only made him hate the Blue Rose even more…
He had been betrayed, captured, and forced to live in a world of killing. He had lost the only person who cared for him, and his kingdom was probably on the brink of being destroyed. All because of one person.
He felt sick just thinking of his wicked smile that day on the TV when he announced his death. What could he have ever done to help in the war to make him scared enough to try and kill him.
What had he ever done to deserve this? To live this life?
He had done nothing but be good; he never said anything bad, he was respectful and loving, and cared for others, even giving money to those who were in need. He always helped others.
So why…
…
He was going to bring the Blue Rose to its knees, he vowed to do so.
The Withered had failed to do it the first time, but he will not fail.
He was going to rebel and destroy everything that stood in his path.
…
But to do that, he needed to find people who wanted the same thing… people with perseverance and hatred as his his rather than strength. But the people of The Withered… were scared of the Blue Rose, since after the first rebellion, every last piece of hope for salvation was lost, or rather, became desperate, and the anchor for living, a dream they didn’t follow but was why they woke up.
…
It had been the same in Frozen Crown; many wanted time to be back, but when it finally came, it wasn’t what they were looking for.
He needed to find those who hadn’t lost it.
But how?
There were too many people inside the district, so how was he supposed to find the few that still had their hope?
…
“By destroying their home…”
It had been the same with Elpis.
When he realized that the world was changing, and everyone was going to die if he didn’t do anything, he stood against the Queen, trying to find a way to get back time.
He was going to destroy the Withered and blame it on the Blue Rose; that is how he was going to start the second rebellion.
On how he was going to do it, he had two ways on how he was going to bring Chaos over the Withered, the whole kingdom even.
By destroying the heart… the marketplace.
It was the perfect target, since everything revolved around it. If it were destroyed, many would lose their jobs, and the Withered was going to lose all its value to the Blue Rose, so the King is going to try to save it, sending people inside it, and using his newfound relic, he was going to blame them.
He also had a way to ensure that they were going to send people to the Withered by using his path.
If the Abyss was discovered in the Withered, the Blue Rose can’t just let the district fall.
He knew it was going to be a hard plan, and evil at that, since he was going to have to manipulate the people for his own self-interest. But at the same time, he was done being nice; it had only made his life a living hell.
It was also very risky, since by announcing the coming of the Abyss, he was going to be careful that no one found he was the Abyss, since not only would it make it so no one would want to work with him, but it also made it easier for the Blue Rose to capture him.
Or kill him at that.
…
And yet, he was sure he wasn’t going to be found.
He knew the Withered better than anyone in the Blue Rose did; he had lived in this wicked place for years, paired that with it being filled to the brim with shadows, and his cloak, it was impossible.
…
And who could suspect a small boy who brings light to the Withered to be the Vessel of such a God?
He took a deep breath, looking at the mask on his arm.
“I guess, this is me accepting who I am…”
…
“I, am Aether Moirai, the Vesse of the Abyss.”
