Aether groaned in pain as he used all his strength to get back up. His hand felt like it was about to break from the pressure being put on it. It wasn’t that he was in pain; his body just hadn’t had any time to recover. It was in shock and didn’t want to comply. But in the end, he was able to get to his feet, hardly able to keep his own balance as his knees twitched.
He rested his arms on the altar where the sword had been, taking a deep breath as he looked at the Codex.
If he weren’t still in this state, he would have been shocked. His path had changed once again, the second time in this story.
His fingers were shaking, but he was able to click his path.
[Promise Child]- A child whose fate is unknown to most, but shall be known by all someday. A Child that has been the vessel of both Praise and the Forgotten, yet belongs to no God. Shall the Promise Child end all, and make the world see how he sees the world. May any Divinity fall at your feet.
Aether stared at the ground slightly, trying to regain himself from the pain that he had endured. But quickly turned back at the screen. He would have normally stared in confusion, but he really couldn’t at the moment. So his reaction had been quite disappointing, in contrast with his new path… which was definitely not weak.
The description was quite vague, but he was used to [The Fool], so while he wasn’t able to think so clearly at the moment, he could make a guess on what it did.
He breathes heavily, hardly keeping his eyes open.
“Does this… make me stronger when facing Gods?”
He mumbled to himself, as this idea was all he could think of in his condition. And it was possible, after all, it did say that they would fall at his feet. There was also the whole thing with not belonging to any God, which he liked. It made it seem as if he was finally free.
“The relic.”
While the path was a very pleasant, but unexpected surprise, it was definitely something that was going to help him. He was here for something else. The thing that was promised to help him get his revenge and allow him to escape this world. He knew it was a sword, but he didn’t know how it could help him beat a God. So he just had to see.
His shaky finger made its way to the relic.
Reading its name, the word replica caught his attention. That was what the card meant with the whole thing about it not being original. It was a replica of a great relic, of a powerful sword. So was it even able to help him? Or was he tricked?
[VoidPiercer Wound (Replica)]- An unknown replica of a corrupted weapon made to wound the Divine. The original blade belonged to the youngest of five princes, who crafted it not to slash, but to pierce Daemon flesh. After his death, it was stolen and corrupted by the Daemon Lord of the Abyss.
Category-Weapon
Class- Seeker
Knowledge rank-Devil.
Abilities-[God Slayer], [Breaker of Harmony],[Grief of The Promise],[The Blade is Me] , [Pierce the End],[Hatred of the Fallen],[Chains of Burden]
Even in his current state, he couldn’t help but pale. He didn’t know if he was dreaming or if this was really real. Had he died, was he seeing things? There was so much information.
A Devil rank, meaning seven abilities, and there they were, like it was something normal for a reader to have. How did a seeker blade even be able to hold the power of all of them? While the rank decided the number, the class decided how strong the relic was, and he didn’t think it was enough for all of them.
But heck, he had seen so many impossible things until now that he wasn’t even surprised.
He had even forgotten about the pain from earlier. As his eyes trailed over the description
His hands shook when he read it.
A blade designed to wound the Gods, was this really a seeker-class sword? The rest he had no idea. Everything was so confusing and shocking. Who was the prince, and what kind of beast were these Daemons? Were they gods, because that would be the only reason why the sword would harm Divinities, even if it was designed to kill these Daemons.
…
And was there really such a thing as The Daemon Lord of the Abyss?
If there really was, he was horrified. What power did he hold? Was he stronger than the Abyss? That couldn’t be right. The Abyss was one of the strongest beings that had ever existed. So how?
Was it a vessel?
He knew too little to say, but what he knew was that it was way past him. He knew nothing of the past, and the world seemed to want to bury the past just like it did with Frozen Crown.
If he wanted the truth, he would have to get it from the Infinite Library.
…
But now it was the time for the abilities.
[God Slayer]-The Daemons had held a deep grudge against the Gods. And so, to go against them, The Five Daemon Lords were born to kill them. The Daemon Lord of the Abyss had found this sword after killing the Prince and decided he would use it to kill all the Gods. But to give the blade such an ability, he had to vow that the blade would also be the one to seal him if the time came. This ability gives the weapon the ability to harm Gods.
…Aether just stared dumbfounded. He didn’t know anything it was saying, who the Daemons were, and did they really thought they could kill the Gods. How had the Daemon Lords been born, and did they each represent one of the Gods? Did the others corrupt the blades of the other four princes? And what did it mean by being able to seal it?
But he knew that most of the stuff referred to the original, not the replica.
“The ability to harm the Gods…” Did this sword have any connection to his path? It had to since he got it after touching it. “Such a frightening combination.”
[Breaker of Harmony]- The Gods were all-powerful, even with the ability to harm them. They were still immortal. But the Daemon Lord of the Abyss knew that, and such made it so whenever the blade cut a Divinity, or someone with their power, the damage would be intensified drastically. But in return, it was the same for him.
He cursed under his breath as the weapon only got even more terrifying. Did this… also do the same to Vessels?…
He swallowed.
[Grief of The Promise]-It was said that even if the body of a God was destroyed, they would still be alive due to their soul. So, the Daemon Lord powered all his emotions into the blade, all his grief. This ability makes it so whenever it pierces a divinity, or someone who bears their power, a poison that affects the soul will appear. Getting stronger every second.
…
“The soul?” Was there really such a thing as Soul Attacks? He had never heard of them. There had been one that attacked the core, or the mind. But he hadn’t heard anything about souls.
Also, while the sword was incredibly powerful… it was that way only against Gods. So while it was going to help him escape, just like it was said to do. Did it even help him that much outside? When fighting a seeker, could he even win?
[The Blade is Me]- A blade forged to kill the Gods, it has seen the end of many, and gained emotion from them. It created a mark around its owner, a place where it could retreat and be summoned almost instantly.
On Aether’s face appeared a bright smile. Relics take some time to appear, not that it would hurt in the day-to-day. But in battle, the slightest of seconds mattered. So if this sword allowed him to get it instantly, it was… going to be very helpful to say the least.
[Pierce the End]- This blade was meant to pierce the Gods, the world at that. And such, every time it pierces, the damage done is increased. How much it increased depends on the class of the enemy, or if they have any influence from a God.
Aether sighed. The ability was powerful, yes, but again, it was going to help him now. It wasn’t that big of a deal in the long term. A seeker would destroy him. Maybe even another reader.
[Hatred of the Fallen]- Losing is something dishonorable. The Blade shall not accept it; its rage gets stronger whenever the awakener is brought to their knees, injured drastically. Even more if it’s done by a God. The awakener can use this rage to become more powerful for a short time.
He had to admit, he was getting quite annoyed. It was an amazing ability yet again. But just like the whole sword, it was like a one-time use. He wasn’t going to run into any more Gods anytime soon. So many of its abilities were practically useless.
If it had been a reader class, he would have bought another one the moment he got back.
He took a deep breath, hoping the last would be better.
[Chains of Burden]- A Blade of such power shall not be used by a warrior unworthy. May the marks left by it make you scream in terror. As you show your oath to not belong to any God. This ability makes the Awakeners’ mark hurt badly whenever he is in the shadows.
“…What… you’re joking?”
Aether blinked twice, feeling a deep hatred come over him.
But before he could use it, his heart collapsed as the flames went out. Leaving him in utter darkness.
The next second, he felt the same pain from before, slightly better, but not enough to make a difference. It wasn’t the only thing that had reappeared; the laughter had also come back to him. He was breaking on the inside and the outside.
He grabbed his hair, trying to pull it from his scalp, and fell to the floor yet again.
The pain made him not realize that everything around him was crumbling.
Soon, he couldn’t bear the pain, blacking out for some seconds.
When he had woken up, the pain was gone. Everything was gone. He was back in the mist, with a lantern near him, its light brushing against his face slightly.
With a note on it…. from someone he knew well.
“The Jack…?”
