Chapter 538: The Unscientific Method
The various materials that Jadis and Sorcha had gathered ranged from relatively common to bizarre and esoteric. Add in the assortment of plants, stones, bones, and whatever else Meli had managed to scrounge from the countryside on the Glanum side of the Haliax and the pile of wand ingredients was almost staggering. Considering how Sorcha had explained that her crafting attempts involved a lot of trial and error combined with gut instinct and Jadis had expected the process to be rather loose. Instead, the witch started by spending close to an hour separating all of the various components into different piles as part of a careful attempt at categorization. She even wrote little lists so she could keep track of how many of each material she had available to her. Overall, it was an exceptionally orderly process. All except for one factor running in the background.
“Oh fuck, that’s good…”
Sorcha let out an aggrieved sigh while trying her best to ignore the corner of the room behind her. Her focus was still firmly on making new wands and she wasn’t about to let Kerr distract her, no matter how disruptive the therion intended on becoming. Picking up another olive tree branch, the goblin used a knife to pare off the leaves and small twigs from the end.
“Why not keep the leaves on?” Meli asked. The Dryad was also keeping her attention on the task at hand, though her orange eyes kept straying to the side involuntarily. “It might help the effect.”
“Maybe,” Sorcha said as she worked the wooden shaft so that it was smooth and clean. “But I was going to try wrapping the various threads and strings tightly around the whole length. I feel like the leaves would get in the way of how tight I could manage it.”
“Or it could help represent the binding effect you are striving for?”
“Ah, yeah, maybe,” the witch frowned as her knife slowed. “Well, I can try both versions, I guess. I’ll finish cleaning the shaft on this one, then—”
“Mm, yes, clean that shaft…”
“Bloody fucking tits, Kerr!” Sorcha yelped as she spun around to glare daggers at the horned woman. “Do you have to do that in here? Right now!?”
Kerr let out a breathless gasp, her eyes closed and her mouth hanging open as her back arched in answer to the goblin’s demand. She had one hand down her pants while the other one was groping her exposed left breast. The slut sniper wasn’t exactly being vigorous with her masturbation. She didn’t need to be, not with the tingling effect that Sorcha’s wand had gifted her with. Despite the power of the witch’s spell, Jadis could tell that she hadn’t actually climaxed once over the past hour. Instead, Kerr had been edging herself the whole time, occasionally pulling her hands away from her lewd bits for several minutes just to let herself calm before reaching her peak. This time must have been particularly close for her to make so much noise, though she still didn’t look like she’d fully gone over the edge.
“Hold on, I’ve got it,” Ida said to mollify Sorcha.
Reaching out, Ida casually flipped the therion over so that she was face down into a pillow. Kerr immediately pulled her knees up so that her ass was wigging in the air, tail wagging as she made muffled noises. In response, Ida took a blanket and threw it over the carnally engrossed archer so that at least she was a little less visually distracting.
“What’s this wand supposed to do again?” Ida asked, more to get Sorcha back on track rather than any fault in her memory.
“I’m hoping it’ll do some kind of partial paralysis,” Sorcha grumbled as she resumed carving the branch. “I’ve already got a good version of the spell with my basilisk bone wand, but I want to try different components and configurations to see if I can improve the design. Basilisk is too expensive to experiment with. Better to try this out on cheap materials like olive branches.”
Jadis listened carefully to Sorcha as the woman worked. Not an easy task to do, if she was being honest with herself. Not because she wasn’t interested in her goblin lover’s wand crafting. She actually found the whole process fascinating. The problem was, Kerr masturbating in the same room as her was a significant distraction for Jadis. And not just because the show was making her horny. Jadis took Kerr’s focus on self-pleasure as a sign that her mood was improving, which she hoped meant that her favorite therion would be willing to open up to her soon about whatever was going on between her and the other therions she had fought with earlier. She had resolved not to force a conversation out of Kerr, not unless the archer proved to be completely unwilling to be reasonable. So, she watched, waited, and let Kerr frig herself into a better mood.
In the meantime, Jadis focused on Sorcha’s wands.
“Here, take some of my hair,” Ida suggested as she cut a few strands and offered them to the witch. “Maybe they’ll help if you add them to the bindings.”
“Worth a try,” Sorcha said as she wrapped the strands around the wand.
“You may have one of my branches, too,” Meli said before snipping off one of her long, willow-like hair fronds. “Eir can help me regrow, yes?”
“She can and will,” Ida smiled at the Dryad. “Though, I have to ask. Can you feel your hair? Er, branches? I mean, I can’t feel my hair directly, since hair is made from keratin and has no nerve endings in it. I’m curious how it works with Dryads.”
“I do not know what keratin is…” Meli frowned, her attention stolen for only a second when Kerr made another muffled moan. “But no, I do not feel my fronds the way you are thinking. I have some control over them, and I can sense some things, but there is no pain if I cut the fronds off.”
“Okay, that’s good,” she replied with a relieved grin. “I don’t want you to hurt yourself.”
“Thank you for the concern,” the Dryad said with a bashful fidget. “I… will do what is necessary to help. I am happy to.”
“Ah, fucking abyss! There it goes!”
While Ida and Meli were talking, Sorcha had continued to wrap various things around the shaft of her new wand. The work she had been doing was abruptly ruined, causing the interrupting exclamation, as a flair of light and smoke went up from the tip of the branch.
“Shit!” Ida cursed as she tried to put out the fire by patting it with her hands. “What happened!?”
“Leave it,” Sorcha advised with disappointed resignation. “It’ll burn up and be done in a few seconds.”
Indeed, the flame spread quickly but was contained to only the ruined wand despite other flammable materials being nearby. In a matter of moments, the fire was done, and all that remained of the materials used was a pile of ash.
“That’s what happens when the wand doesn’t work,” Sorcha explained while waving some of the lingering smoke out of the air. “It burns up like a bloody wick in a fireplace. It’s why you can’t reuse the components, and also why I don’t like to experiment with expensive parts.”
“I imagine you have lost some valuable materials this way,” Meli said as she poked a long finger into the ashes.
“Yup. Makes my purse hurt just thinking about it.”
The experiments continued from there with mixed results. By the time another half hour had passed, Sorcha had succeeded in crafting five different wands that were all capable of causing paralysis to varying degrees. None were as effective as her original Total Paralysis Wand, but they did at least help narrow down what materials and designs helped with potency, versus what would cause the wand construction to fail. One aspect of note that they discovered was that while avatar hair didn’t help at all, avatar blood did seem to improve the power of the spell. Not only did Jadis’ contribution increase the effectiveness, adding Meli’s sap helped as well. Sorcha’s own blood, however, had no effect at all.
“That’s enough paralysis wands for now,” Sorcha announced as she set the fifth experimental wand down. “Let’s do something else.”
“Thank you,” Meli sighed with some obvious relief. “Being paralyzed is not enjoyable.”
“What do you want to work on, next?” Ida asked as she looked over the multitude of components laid out on the floor. “Maybe a direct damage spell? Or something that creates illusions?”
“Well, I—”
“Sorchy, I need another tap, please…”
The goblin’s pointed ears flopped like a disappointed dog’s ears at the sound of Kerr’s plaintive request. Jadis guessed that she had almost managed to put what the therion was doing in the background out of her mind. However, with Kerr demanding another hit from the Tingle Wand as they had started calling it, Sorcha was forcibly reminded of the lewd affair happening behind her back.
“Fine,” Sorcha grunted as she stomped over to the panting therion. “Move your hand you perv.”
“You’re the one who’s still walking around with a big fat cock,” Kerr commented while giving the goblin a poke aimed at the appendage in question. “That makes you the pervert in my book. I can see it throbbing under your dress.”
“Fuck off,” Sorcha yelped as she batted Kerr’s hand away from her crotch. “You’re impossible, you know that?”
“I sure do. Now gimme that tingle. Unless you want to give me that thick cucumber, instead?”
While Sorcha quickly used her Tingle Wand to appease the lusty archer’s demands, Ida had an idea. Or rather, she was reminded of a couple of previous ideas that she had come up with. One being that hair and blood were not the only easily obtained components that she as a Nephilim might be able to provide for wand crafting. The other was that she had been criminally underutilizing one of her newest spells. Thanks to Kerr’s debauched behavior, Jadis realized that she had a golden opportunity to satisfy multiple needs at once and have a lot of fun while doing so.
“She’s a total nutter,” Sorcha grumbled as she collapsed back onto her cushion. “Absolutely insane.”
“Does she… do this often?” Meli asked quietly, both looking at Kerr’s lewd display while simultaneously trying to not stare.
“Not really,” the goblin shrugged her shoulders as she fiddled with the hem of her simple brown dress. “Not going to lie; you hang around Jadis long enough, you’ll see a lot of weird and perverted sex stuff going on. But we’re all pretty normal most of the time, I guess.”
“Do you want to see what my cum might do as an added ingredient?”
“Except right fucking now, I guess,” Sorcha stared at Ida with wide, incredulous eyes. “What are you talking about?”
“I wasn’t joking earlier when we were talking about this. I feel like Nephilim seed is sort of a signature aspect of our highly sexual nature. I mean, think about the volume I output. There’s no way that much cum is happening without some kind of magic involved. Pragmatically speaking, I think it’s only reasonable to see what effect it might have on your wands.”
While both Sorcha and Meli stared at Ida with a mix of astonishment and embarrassment, the Nephilim did not miss the way the movement over in Kerr’s corner of the room slowed down to stillness. Maybe the therion was playing with herself in order to avoid thinking about troubling topics. But if a little kinky sex got her out of the funk her earlier encounter had put her into, Jadis was more than happy to oblige.
“I suppose I can see the sense in that,” Sorcha said as a blush darkened her light green features. “Wha—how would we, um, go about collecting it?”
“I can think of a few ways,” Ida smirked. Leaning forward while putting her chin on her hand, she maintained steady eye contact with Sorcha as she spoke her next words. “I don’t think you need much imagination to come up with collections methods. You see me do things like that with Aila all the time. Now, the really important part is that we need a non-avatar source of cum as well. As we saw with the avatar blood versus non-avatar blood, it’s likely that only my seed would make a difference. But we can’t just assume that, can we? So, we’ll need you to provide a control sample of sorts. Just to be sure.”
The more the goblin processed what Ida was saying, the more her face darkened with a mix of embarrassment, excitement, and lust. By the end of Jadis’ explanation, the little goblin was breathing heavily through her nose while her fists were clenched around bundles of her dress’ skirt. Ida could also see a sizeable lump pulsing just under that comfortable-looking garment, with a tiny wet spot already forming near the tip. It seemed that Sorcha hadn’t been anywhere near immune to the sights, sounds, and smells coming from Kerr for the past hour and a half.
“Should I… leave?”
Meli’s question caused Ida to shift attention to the nervous-looking Dryad. It was only just earlier that morning that they had talked about the potential for a sexual relationship between the two of them. Jadis truly was open to the idea, but as she looked over the obviously anxious woman, she recognized that neither of them were quite ready for that step. Not so soon.
“Actually, would you mind helping me out with something else?” she asked with a kind smile. “My Dys self needs some clothes for Maeve. Would you mind bringing some to us? We’re down in the cellar.”
“I can do that,” Meli replied with relief, though there was a tinge of disappointment coloring her tone as well. “What clothes?”
Ida directed the Dryad to some of their luggage where Thea’s things were packed. With Maeve’s currently chosen height, the shieldmaiden’s clothes would fit best. Plus, as Jadis was able to ask via her Syd self, Thea didn’t mind loaning the pants and shirt to the Fetch.
Taking the garments in a neat bundle, Meli bowed and saw her way out of the room. Though her rapid departure was not without a final comment or two.
“I hope you enjoy yourselves,” Meli told Sorcha with amusing sincerity. “I also hope we can have sex in the future, as well.”
“Uh, thanks,” Sorcha answered as best she could. “Me… too?”
With that, Meli shut the door, and the three lovers were alone.
There was a beat of silence before Jadis took it upon herself to be the first one to act.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” the witch asked as Ida crawled across the floor to put herself right in front of her. “Aren’t your other selves doing important things? Won’t this be, I don’t know, distracting?”
“Yeah, it will be,” Ida admitted almost gleefully as she slowly ran a hand up Sorcha’s leg, then her side, all the way up to just under her left breast. “But I don’t mind. Besides, I’ve gotten way better at separating my sensations. This’ll be a good test to see how far I can push my limits.”
“How very efficient of you,” Sorcha drawled.
“Also, I really, really want to suck on your cock right now. I’ve been thinking about it for hours.”
“Ah, uh, oh,” Sorcha managed to not find any real words as her tongue stumbled around inside her mouth.
“Please tell me you’re going to start soon,” Kerr interrupted their moment.
The archer had shifted around so that she had her back leaning against the wall. While before her clothes had simply been in disarray, Kerr had since taken the time to shed her shirt and pants completely. There she lay, legs spread wide, one hand playing with her pussy while the other drew circles around her right nipple.
“Definitely,” Ida agreed.
At Jadis’ confirmation, Sorcha practically leapt to her feet. While trying to not look too eager, the goblin started to pull her dress off. However, before she could get far, Ida put her hands onto Sorcha’s hands to still her movement. With a wicked grin, she gave the witch a kiss, then quietly explained her plan.
“Keep the dress on, just for a second longer,” Ida said, her voice husky with desire. “I want to see you take it off after I enlarge you.”
“Enlarge me?” Sorcha asked, blinking in confusion. “What do you… mean…”
Ida could literally see when what she was implying clicked in the goblin’s head.
“Really?”
Ida struggled not to laugh at the goblin’s squeaked exclamation.
“Of course,” she assured her. “What good is having a spell that can double the physical size of a target if I don’t use it on my cute little goblin lover?”
“There are all kinds of good things about that spell,” Sorcha chided Ida, though she was fidgeting more and more with growing excitement. “But yeah, you’re right. Why haven’t you used it on me already?”
“Good fucking question,” Ida replied.
Then, she cast the spell.
