Sinners and Spiralwalkers were the only ones who could battle these beings “safely” without having their Minds and Souls warped, corrupted, and devoured so easily.

But this power came at a cost. Their madness could overtake them at any moment, mutating them into monsters themselves—into Entities, or worse, Grievances. It happened to the two most famous Spiralwalkers years ago. When they descended to Tier 0, they became aberrant evil gods that killed millions and absorbed entire continents into their Fantasy Realms.

Heroes who once fought for humanity’s survival ended up becoming the very things they swore to destroy—completely consumed by the madness they could no longer contain in exchange for more power, bringing suffering upon those who had once placed all their trust in them.

“Prince Louis… I hope you will never become like them. I trust you. I trust you as the boy I helped raise with my Queen, and also as my Queen’s beloved son… I trust you.”

As she kept muttering those words to herself for strength, Catrise swung her hammer, crushing giant spiders made of shifting black ink. The rest of the knights—wearing the skeletal armor and weapons granted by Louis—swiftly took care of the smaller monsters, clearing the entire area in record time.

“It’s impressive how much stronger this bone armor has made us!” Elises said, slashing apart a multicolored slime-like Entity Spawn and tearing its two cores with a single attack.

“I cannot help but feel there’s something wrong with this armor, however!” Fernand said, cutting down a bird-like creature made of ice that attacked Elises from behind. “Like… there’s… souls in this, or something. I hear a voice constantly speaking inside my head. I don’t think these are meant to be used for more than a day.”

“It’s all cursed equipment,” Elises nodded. “But for what we have to do now, they’re necessary! Don’t let the voices win—that’s all there is to it!”

“Hah, you’re unbelievable,” Fernand laughed.

Both knights clashed against swarms of Entity Spawns—low-intelligence Entities created by stronger ones kept in containment. They came in all shapes and sizes, designed to spread Fantasium everywhere so the Entities could extend their Authorities.

The two knights, leading the army, rapidly cleansed the surroundings and began rescuing dozens of people. They sent them to underground passages leading to a shelter supervised by Andromeda, which hadn’t been breached yet.

While slaying Entity Spawns and helping evacuate those who had stayed behind, Catrise noticed Louis returning after dealing with the four Entities. He had healed Tisha, left with Pekorine, and told them to fight on.

“He’s already done with them…!” she muttered. “He’s so strong…! My lord!”

Catrise almost shed a tear of pride at what Louis had accomplished, but she had little time to relax. She regrouped with the remaining priests and knights, rushed with Tisha’s team, healed the wounded, and made sure no more lives were lost.

At the same time, Louis was single-handedly wrestling two borderline Grievance Entities at Level 3.5. One was a giant spider over ten meters tall made of ink; the other was a screaming, gray-colored humanoid with long arms and legs—the strongest so far.

“GYAAAAHHHH!”

The humanoid kept screaming while unleashing a barrage of punches and kicks. It had no technique at all, but the sheer intensity and power were ridiculous. The ink spider spread its fluid body everywhere, turning anything it touched into more spiders made of ink, surrounding Louis and constantly trying to restrain him. He could feel his energy draining every time it touched him.

“There’s at least two more of you sneaking somewhere… or maybe they ran away if they were smart enough…”

However, Louis remained calm. He clashed against the screaming Entity while ignoring the ink completely. Suddenly he raised his hand. A golden spear rushed toward him, covered in the blood of hundreds of creatures it had hunted.

The Screaming Entity swung its fists, pummeling Louis’s body and slowly breaking through his scales and armor. Louis charged his energy and channeled it through his spear.

“You only know how to scream. What a disgusting thing. Begone from my sight.”
