Chapter 28: The One-Armed Grenadier

“Save your bullets and focus, men! This isn’t a fight we have to win! We just have to hold them back until reinforcements get here!”

The men all voiced their agreement to Philip’s orders, and Philip listened as more and more bullets rained down on the cars! Philip knew that he and his men were not properly equipped for a battle of this scale. Philip had only come here today to check their inventory and document the expense that the warehouse had made recently, and he never expected that he would be getting attacked like this. The only reason why the Lucas family were still capable of putting up a fight was because they were far more skilled than the unknown attackers.

Ratatatatatata!

More bullets rained down on the cars, and Philip wondered where the fuck these men managed to get so many bullets from! It was endless! The unknown gang members were using AK-47 rifles and for the past five minutes they had been shooting nonstop! Even though AK-47 bullets weren’t hard to come by, it was not possible for any small gang to get this much ammunition into their territory without them knowing about it! And the fact that they also managed to get explosives without them knowing about it meant that there had to be a bigger group working together with this small group!

Philip leaned out from beside the car and sent a few more shots at the attackers, then went back behind the car before he could get killed! His phone rang and he picked up when he saw that it was Tim on the other side of the call!

“Did you get the turret ready!?”

Philip had sent Tim out to get more guns for them to put up a better fight against the attackers, but when Tim said that the guns were not ready yet, Philip shouted back in anger.

“Then why the fuck are you calling me!? Don’t you know I’m busy!?”

Philip was not happy that he was being distracted like this! Philip needed Tim to bring the guns here before they got overwhelmed, so Philip had no idea why Tim would be wasting time calling him at a time like this! But Tim’s voice came through with a tone of actual urgency!

[Hey, don’t shout at me! I’m trying to help you! There’s a man with a fucking grenade launcher arm coming towards your direction!]

Philip’s eyes furrowed in pure disbelief!

“A what…!?”

“RAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHRRR!”

A loud laugh suddenly echoed from down the street and Philip looked up sharply when he heard the sound of a car zooming towards them! Philip took a chance and peeked over the edge of the car he had been hiding behind, and he was shocked when he saw a green military carrier coming in their direction! There were various men carrying guns on the vehicle, but all of Philip’s attention was drawn towards the largest man in the group! He was a dark-skinned man wearing military cargo pants and a green singlet, and he was built like a fucking bull with muscles rippling like waves beneath his skin! His hair was a large afro with red stripes going down the sides, and all his teeth were pure gold! But the one thing that drew Philip’s attention was the man’s left arm! The entire arm had been cut off at the upper bicep with reddened skin and scar tissue around the stump, but the stump wasn’t just a regular one, because the man’s entire left arm had been replaced with a giant silver grenade launcher! Philip’s eyes widened in shock as the man raised his hand and laughed while taking aim at them!

“GRENADE INCOMING! TAKE COVER!!”

Philip shouted at the men and told them all to move, and Philip shot off the ground and ran forward as he heard the unmistakable sound of a grenade being fired! And in the next moment, the junkyard imploded!

KA-BOOM!!

“Rarhahahaharh! I fucking love the smell of explosions in the morning!”

The man let out an excited sigh as he perceived the smell of smoke nad soot filling the air! This was everything he lived for! The screams of terror! The burns! The pain! This was true ecstasy! The man had come here today with a plan to only burn down the Lucas warehouse and leave before anyone could come to check what had happened, but it turned out that there were some Lucas executives near the warehouse when it was attacked, and that was how they ended up in this shootout! But even though their plans had been derailed, that didn’t mean they couldn’t make the best of this situation!

’The miss didn’t tell us when we should come back after finishing the job, so we have all the time in the world! Let’s put these fucking Lucas’ through hell!’

The man pointed his grenade hand towards the Lucas men once again and unleashed another grenade that caused a massive explosion!

KA-BOOOM!

Philip felt a searing heat on his back as he was blown away by the explosion, and he landed on the ground with a pained grunt! He quickly began to move out of the way to find more cover, but the screams from some of his men who had gotten injured forced him to stop! There were some men that didn’t manage to get away from the explosion quickly enough and they were holding their arms and shoulders with burn marks all over them! Philip cursed as he shouted for the men who could still move to help out the injured! No one was getting left behind! Philip immediately went and grabbed an injured man who was close to him and lifted him over his shoulder easily before carrying him towards a car and putting him down behind the cover! The man thanked Philip with a pained look on his face, and Philip quickly turned back around when he heard another maniacal laugh echo through the air before the unmistakable sound of a grenade being launched!

Philip quickly turned and took aim with his assault rifle! The grenade was moving very quickly and heading straight for some of the Lucas family members that were still trying to retreat, but Philip had senses that were even faster than the grenade could move, and he took in one sharp breath before focusing on the grenade, and shooting!

Click!

BOOM!

A massive explosion went off in the air, and Philip cocked his assault rifle as he heard the Lucas men shouting their praises for his perfect shot! Philip told them to continue retreating away from the attacks and he and the other men that weren’t injured provided more cover fire for them as they moved! Philip turned his scope towards the man who had fired the first grenade and he focused on the man to try and see who the fuck he was! Philip had been working in the underworld long enough to know every major player there, so he was sure he would know anyone with a fucking grenade launcher for an arm! But Philip wasn’t able to recognize him and he just cursed as he fired multiple bullets towards the man’s position!

The man was able to predict the attack and he easily used his grenade launcher to block the bullets before he fired a shot back at Philip’s direction while laughing loudly! Philip fired another bullet towards the grenade before falling behind cover as another explosion went off above him!

RATATATATATA!!

The attacks became even more intense all of a sudden, and Philip was shocked when he saw one of the bullets from the unknown men piercing through the steel car door to kill one of the Lucas men! Those bastards had armor-piercing rounds!? There is no way they are normal!? You can’t buy armor-piercing rounds unless you are one of the big three in this city!
