- Chapter 167: Obtaining the Destiny Weapon
Merlin and Luna continued walking down the main street. With the Dragon God Festival just around the corner, the city of Dralmor felt particularly lively.
Every few meters, five or six people walked past them.
The street felt crowded, but it made the city feel even more alive.
Merlin held Luna’s hand tightly so they wouldn’t get separated in the crowd.
“So, where exactly is it?” Merlin asked as he pulled Luna onto a side path to the left.
He felt that if they stayed on the main road, they would get separated sooner or later.
After all, there were too many people, and it was impossible for him and Luna to avoid bumping into others.
“I can feel it coming from that direction,” Luna replied, pointing at an old weapon shop about fifty meters away.
Merlin turned in the direction she pointed and saw the shop’s sign—Varken.
‘Varken? So the Blazion spear is really the destiny weapon Luna is looking for, huh?’ His eyes narrowed slightly.
Varken was an inconspicuous old weapon shop, located right next to an alley filled with dumpsters.
However, who would have thought that inside that shop was a legendary spear named Blazion?
It was an extremely powerful and deadly spear. The protagonist used it to defeat his enemies.
“Let’s go,” Merlin said, pulling her toward the shop.
When they arrived, they found that the shop was completely neglected. Even the front was full of trash.
But there was an open sign hanging in front, indicating that the shop was still operating.
Merlin led the way inside and saw that the interior was neat—very different from the forecourt.
Even so, it looked very old, as if it had been worn down by time.
“Welcome, you two,” the shopkeeper greeted them.
The shopkeeper was a short, middle-aged man wearing a black hat that covered part of his face.
A brown beard hung from his chin, while his eyes were slightly narrowed and a smile played on his face.
He seemed friendly, putting Merlin and Luna at ease.
“Excuse me, shopkeeper,” Merlin said as he stepped closer. “I’d like to look at the weapons in this shop. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Of course not.” The shopkeeper looked pleased. “Go ahead, both of you. I hope you don’t mind my old weapons.”
“Don’t worry, we won’t,” Merlin replied with a small chuckle.
He turned to Luna and asked, “Which one is the weapon?”
Luna looked to her left, and her gaze locked on a rusty spear at the end of the room.
Merlin followed her gaze and smiled slightly.
“The Blazion spear,” he muttered.
In the novel, the spear was indeed located at the edge of the room.
At that time, Abel had found it by accident and immediately chose it.
The shopkeeper was skeptical and even confirmed whether Abel really wanted to buy it or not.
With Luna staring directly at the spear at the end of the room, it was clear that her destiny weapon was indeed Blazion.
“Is that it?” Merlin feigned ignorance as he pointed at the rusty spear.
“Yeah.” Luna nodded enthusiastically. “The call came from that spear.”
Her eyes flashed with determination and a hint of longing.
If she could get that spear, her strength would definitely increase dramatically.
And in the future, she wouldn’t have to fear the naughty girls who wanted to take Merlin away from her.
“Do you want that spear?” The shopkeeper’s voice came from beside them. “Think twice before making a decision. That spear is just junk. I found it by accident five years ago.”
He sighed softly, lit a cigarette, and took a drag.
“At first, I placed it at the front of the shop, hoping someone would buy it. But after five years, no one was interested. So, I moved it to the back of the room. And now, the spear is rusty and unfit for use as a weapon.”
Although his shop was quiet and sales were poor, he still didn’t want to deceive either of them.
After all, he had grandchildren at home, and he didn’t want his own grandchildren to be deceived by others.
However, because Merlin knew the amazing power behind the spear, he would still buy it for Luna.
“It’s okay, shopkeeper. We’ll still buy the spear,” Merlin stated firmly.
“You…” The shopkeeper stared at him in disbelief.
He wanted to remind him again but held back when he saw the determination in Merlin’s eyes.
With a long sigh, he waved his hand and said, “Alright, it’s up to you. The important thing is, I’ve warned you. If you regret it later, don’t blame me, okay?”
“Of course.” Merlin nodded casually. He looked at Luna and said, “Take the spear. I’ll pay for it.”
Luna was surprised and was about to say something, but Merlin gave her an assuring look.
In the end, she swallowed it back and whispered, “I owe you.”
With that, she walked to the far end of the room and picked up the spear.
Once she touched it, an indescribable sensation washed over her. It felt as if two people who loved each other had finally been reunited after hundreds of years apart.
“This spear… it’s truly amazing!” Luna murmured with a wide smile on her face.
She swung the spear, and instantly, the rust vanished like dust blown away by the wind.
A red spear with ancient patterns appeared before her, accompanied by a faint red light, as if a soft flame enveloped it.
The sight stunned Merlin and the shopkeeper.
“Don’t tell me… that weapon is her destiny?” The shopkeeper muttered in horror.
There were a few rare cases where a person had their own weapon, known as a destiny weapon.
Unexpectedly, at his old age, he finally saw one with his own eyes.
Merlin was a little surprised to hear the muttering.
He glanced at the shopkeeper and murmured in admiration, ‘It seems this old man is no ordinary person.’
He himself didn’t even know what a destiny weapon was before Luna explained it earlier.
A few moments later, the brilliance of the spear in Luna’s hand disappeared.
Then, with a single command in her mind, the spear turned into a red light and shot into her head before vanishing.
“Did it work?” Merlin asked.
Luna turned and ran toward him excitedly.
“I did it! Thank you, Merlin!” She hugged him tightly, burying her face in his chest.
Today was truly a happy day. She finally had her own weapon, and she felt confident she could help Merlin in the future.
Merlin just smiled as he rubbed her back.
“Tsk! Young people are amazing,” teased the shopkeeper.
Upon hearing this, Luna immediately felt embarrassed and quickly released her embrace of Merlin.
Her face turned as red as an apple, and it seemed as if white smoke was rising from her cheeks.
“Ahem!” Merlin coughed shyly and glanced at the old man. “How much does it cost? Let me pay for it.”
But the shopkeeper shook his head, took a slow puff of his cigarette, and exhaled the smoke gently.
“No need. The spear… is free for your partner.”
“Free?” Merlin and Luna were stunned.
Merlin quickly shook his head. “No, we can’t accept it for free. Just name your price—I’ll pay it.”
However, the man just chuckled and said, “It’s okay, kid. That weapon belonged to that girl in the first place. Didn’t I tell you I found it long ago? Just consider it me returning it to its rightful owner. Simple, isn’t it?”
Merlin and Luna were speechless. What he said made sense.
From the beginning, the spear had been Luna’s destiny weapon, and the man had simply returned it to her.
Even so, Merlin didn’t want to accept someone else’s kindness so easily, especially from a merchant.
He looked around and came up with an idea. He walked over to the weapon rack on the right, picked up a sword, and placed it on the counter.
“I want to buy this sword,” he said, reaching into his pocket and taking out six gold coins.
He placed them on the counter with a big smile.
The shopkeeper was startled, then sighed deeply.
“Kid, you’re overpaying. That weapon costs no more than five bronze coins, you know?”
Just by looking at them, he could tell they came from a wealthy family.
Still, pulling out six gold coins like that was extravagant, wasn’t it?
His monthly income was no more than four gold coins—just enough to pay the shop’s rent and buy food each month.
“It’s fine. Take it, old man. You can’t refuse,” Merlin chuckled softly.
“What Merlin said is right, shopkeeper. Please take it,” Luna added, persuading him.
In the end, the shopkeeper accepted it with a helpless expression.
Merlin and Luna exchanged glances and smiles.
After that, the two walked away from the shop, unaware that the shopkeeper was watching them with a meaningful look.
“One is a person with a great destiny, the other with a mysterious destiny. It seems the world will be in chaos in a few years,” he muttered with a long sigh. “I hope I’m still alive to witness that new legend.”
