Chapter 319: Margaret’s Sharp Words
About six thousand kilometers west of the continent lay a quiet city called Gehena, part of the Kingdom of Oryndel.
The kingdom itself was neither particularly powerful nor weak. Still, it spanned a large area and was considered quite advanced in civilization.
Gehena was not very large and had a low population density, with only ten thousand residents.
Despite its size, the city boasted the kingdom’s most famous port—Calvira Port.
The port was bustling and served as the backbone of Gehena’s community.
At that moment, one kilometer outside the city, a teleportation portal appeared. Shortly after, Merlin and Linda stepped through it.
They wore formal clothes that seemed oddly out of place.
Linda snapped her fingers, and two cloaks floated into the air. She handed one to Merlin and draped the other over herself.
“Wear this to hide yourself,” she said.
Merlin stared at the cloak in his hand, about to ask a question, but held back. He wanted to see for himself what his master meant by “date.”
He had a feeling it was definitely not a normal date as he had imagined.
After putting on their cloaks, Linda patted Merlin on the shoulder. In that instant, they both took off, flying toward Gehena.
When they were only fifty meters from the city, Linda guided them toward the main gate.
The guards stood ready, weapons in hand, watching everyone who entered or left.
Strangely, the guards didn’t even notice them. Merlin and Linda flew past and landed inside the city.
Merlin shot a glance at his master and teased, “Isn’t it kind of rude to just stroll in without reporting, Master?”
Linda pulled up her hood and shrugged. “As long as we’re not causing trouble, it’s fine. I don’t have any papers anyway, so it’s easier to slip in quietly. We’re not staying long—we need to get to the port and catch the ship I booked for tonight.”
“Board the ship you booked?” Merlin asked, surprised.
But Linda didn’t give him time to think. She took his hand and led him along.
Merlin glanced at her hand in his and smiled. He quickened his pace so they walked side by side.
Linda gave him a vague look and smiled back.
“[Ding! Linda Thalsis’ affection increased by 5 points! Current affection: 100+!]”
“[Ding! Congratulations to the master for earning 5,000 system points!]”
Merlin glanced at the notification and simply smiled.
They continued walking until they reached an inn in the middle of the city. It was neither large nor small—just average.
Linda booked two rooms and went upstairs with Merlin.
“You rest first. Tonight, we’ll go to the port and leave the city.”
After saying that, she stepped into her room and vanished from sight.
Merlin shook his head helplessly. His master always did as she pleased, but he wasn’t angry.
After all, that was just who Linda was, and he was perfectly comfortable with her.
With that, he stepped into his room and waited for night to fall.
…
“Where’s Merlin? Did he forget the promise he made?”
Luna looked around, confused.
Margaret, Monica, and Liora shared her confusion. According to the plan, they were supposed to go into the city together after the ceremony to relax.
Classes would start in two days, and tomorrow was the welcome party. These two days were their last chance to unwind before the new academic year began.
“I tried to contact him, but I couldn’t. Could he have just left?” Margaret frowned.
Either she or Merlin wore a communication bracelet. No matter the distance, they could send messages to each other.
Yet Merlin was completely unreachable, which made her both puzzled and suspicious.
There was no way he’d forget his promise to them, right?
As they were pondering this, a woman suddenly appeared at their side. She was tall, serious-looking, and wore glasses.
“Good afternoon, everyone. Sorry to bother you, but I’m here to let you know that Merlin Clay has left,” she said, handing a letter to Catrine.
Catrine took it and read. Her eyebrows shot up, and she muttered, “My brother left with the academy head?”
The four of them were stunned by her words.
“Left with the Academy Head? Where could they have gone?” Margaret asked, worry clear in her voice.
“I’m not sure. My brother didn’t mention the details, but he said he wouldn’t be gone long. He should be back before tomorrow evening’s party,” Catrine replied casually.
She passed the letter to Margaret, who took it and read it at once.
Margaret’s annoyed expression gradually softened, though not completely.
Luna, Monica, and Liora then took turns reading the letter. Once they understood its contents, their anxiety eased instantly.
“Thank you for the information, Secretary Melinda,” Margaret said politely.
“You’re welcome, Miss Margaret. I’d better be going now.”
Melinda gave a small bow and walked off.
As they watched her leave, Luna looked at Margaret, Catrine, Monica, and Liora. “So… what do we do now?”
“How about we still go into the city for a walk? Even without Merlin, we can have some fun, right?” Margaret suggested.
Catrine nodded. “I agree. My brother always said I should relax and enjoy myself more often.”
“I agree too,” Monica replied shyly.
“Me too!” Liora raised her hand enthusiastically.
Seeing no objections, Margaret turned to Luna, silently waiting for her response.
Luna shook her head. “No objections. Let’s go. But since you invited us, you’re paying, okay?”
Margaret rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Even if you hadn’t asked, I would have done it anyway.”
Luna giggled. She wasn’t short of money at all—she just enjoyed teasing Margaret.
She knew Margaret wouldn’t be upset; with her wealth, treating them was nothing.
As the five of them started to walk away, a voice suddenly called from behind.
“Sorry to bother you, but may I have a moment?”
The five of them turned around in surprise. Standing there was a stout man with an unpleasant appearance.
He wore a professor’s uniform and glasses, and his short black hair looked unkempt. Pimples dotted his face, showing little care for his appearance.
Monica’s face went pale. He was the professor who had asked for her help with his journal—Rodart.
“Professor Rodart?” Margaret frowned as she looked him up and down. “Is there anything we can do to help?”
At the same time, she pulled Monica’s hand and positioned her beside her.
Luna also walked over to Monica’s side, as if to protect her.
Catrine remained silent, but her sharp gaze never left the fat man.
Rodart did not notice Margaret and the others’ wariness. He maintained his smile and observed them all with a lecherous gaze.
’What extraordinary girls,’ he muttered as he swallowed his saliva.
Luna, Margaret, Liora, and Catrine had exceptionally beautiful faces—surpassing many female students he had ever seen.
In addition, each of them had incredibly curvaceous bodies. Even Margaret and Luna had perfectly developed chests and hips, which contrasted sharply with their young age.
The fire of lust burned inside him, but he quickly suppressed it. He must not forget his goal—Monica.
His lustful eyes shifted toward Monica as he said, “Sorry to interrupt you all, but I’d like to speak with Monica privately. I hope you don’t mind.”
Luna frowned in disgust. She still couldn’t imagine the academy hiring such a disgusting man.
His lewd gaze and heavy breathing clearly showed his evil intentions.
“Sorry, I can’t let Monica talk to you privately, Professor Rodart,” Margaret refused coldly. “You’re a professor, so please mind your manners.”
Her tone was cold and sharp, and Rodart was taken aback by it.
“Y-You misunderstand, Young Lady Margaret. I don’t have any bad intentions like you think I do.”
Rodart waved his hands, causing sweat to scatter in all directions.
Catrine and Liora, who were standing close to him, felt nauseous and quickly took a few steps back.
“Even if you say so, I still don’t believe you. And let me remind you that no new student helps a professor like you with his journal. So get rid of your bad intentions, or you’ll receive a lesson you’ll never forget,” Margaret said indifferently.
How could she fail to see what Rodart was thinking?
The perverted man stared at her and the others with a disgusting, lewd gaze.
His intention in approaching Monica was most likely because he thought the girl would be easy to play with.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t going to let that happen. Aside from Merlin’s instructions to get along with Monica, she couldn’t just stand by and watch another girl be treated inappropriately by a lecherous man like Rodart.
“I… I…” Rodart wanted to defend himself, but not a single word came out of his mouth.
His fat face turned red as shame and anger mixed together. Margaret’s words were sharp and direct.
It felt as if she had publicly exposed him in front of everyone.
“Let’s go.”
Margaret turned and pulled Monica and Liora away from the academy. Catrine and Luna followed behind them.
They were disgusted with Rodart, especially his hypocritical attitude and the uncomfortable presence he gave off.
Seeing them leave, Rodart could no longer contain his anger and stamped his right foot hard on the ground.
“Damn it! How dare you insult me!?” he yelled angrily, gnashing his teeth.
This was the first time someone had humiliated him so directly. He couldn’t accept that reality.
“Margaret Beethoven and you girls… just wait. I’ll pay you back a thousand times over!” he growled breathlessly.
He had already prepared the worst-case scenario for them, but he didn’t dare carry it out yet.
At the very least, he had to prepare a thorough plan before executing it.
