Chapter 50: A needy pregnant omega needs his alpha
Yoon Seoyul’s polished black shoe replaced the exact spot where Cheon Areum’s hand had been clutching Kihyun’s throat.
The leather sole pressed down, pinning Kihyun’s neck to the ground all the same. At the same instant, Yoon Seoyul’s free arm curled around Cheon Areum’s waist and lifted him off Kihyun’s body in one smooth motion. Cheon Areum’s knees left the ground; his weight settled against Yoon Seoyul’s side, held tight against ribs and hip.
His arm stayed locked around Cheon Areum, refusing to release even a centimeter as he shifted his weight slightly—shoe still pressing Kihyun’s throat—then reached into the inner pocket of his suit with his free hand. A metallic click sounded. A slim silver collar gleamed in the sunlight—simple, elegant, but unmistakably a restraint.
He bent at the waist—keeping Cheon Areum tucked securely against him—and snapped the collar around Kihyun’s neck. The center clear spot of the collar flared once—bright, then dim—sealing shut with a low, resonant hum. Kihyun’s energy flickered in the clear center as it locked him with his own energy.
Only then did Yoon Seoyul lift his foot.
The sole left Kihyun’s throat, showing faint red signs of Cheon Areum’s handprints that would bruise later. Kihyun inhaled sharply once—chest rising—then lay still, eyes fixed upward on the sky, collar gleaming coldly against his throat. Yoon Seoyul straightened fully, arm still locked around Cheon Areum’s waist.
The pressure in the air cleared as Yoon Seoyul deactivated his skill, seeing the lifeless form and reaction of the new awakener, but Cheon Areum was adamant, not deactivating his skill. His eyes were fixed on Kihyun as he was lifted by others, and as soon as Kihyun came face to face with him, he gave his command.
Kill yourself.
Darkness covered his sight soon afterward, but he had already given his command, and he wasn’t going to change it. Cheon Areum had given enough chances, and yet this new awakener didn’t once back down, even in jest. Also, this wasn’t his original body anyway.
“Take deep breaths.”
Covering his eyes with his hand, Yoon Seoyul asked him in a low voice.
“I’m fine. I haven’t lost control.”
“You’re not fine… you’re shaking. Have you looked at yourself?”
“…..”
Well, he couldn’t suddenly make himself stop shaking. His body ached with cold, and the shakes were irrevocable without him having to force himself to steel his body. Yoon Seoyul half dragged him toward the waiting vehicle—a sleek black SUV parked at the edge of the clearing—arm never leaving his waist. Cheon Areum walked beside him—steps slow, unsteady, leaning heavily into Yoon Seoyul’s side. His head stayed bowed; damp hair fell across his face, hiding his expression from others.
Opening the car door for him, Yoon Seoyul sat him down slowly in the passenger seat of the car and leaned down to meet his eyes with a complicated expression. Cheon Areum quietly lowered his eyes further down, guiltily avoiding Yoon Seoyul’s stare. Caressing his face with a thumb, Yoon Seoyul didn’t say anything more. He put on his seatbelt for him and straightened, closing the car door. As he walked over to the driver’s seat, he attended the call that had been vibrating his phone for a while now.
“If she’s still not out, we will come over there first. Check if anyone else is available, regardless of their class.”
Sitting in the driver’s seat, Yoon Seoyul put on his seatbelt, talking with the person on the phone at the same time.
“Don’t call Kakta. I will deal with him later.”
Saying that, he cut the call and was about to start the car when Cheon Areum decided to glumly announce to Yoon Seoyul,
“I received a marriage proposal.”
“What?”
“That new awakener—he said he’d marry me and raise our baby too if I come over to his side.”
Cheon Areum finally turned to Yoon Seoyul, who gripped the steering wheel so tightly the leather creaked under his thumbs. The knuckles stood out overly white against skin, the faint scrape of callus against stitching the only sound in the suddenly too-quiet car. Yoon Seoyul’s jaw was set in that familiar, controlled line—unreadable to anyone else—but Cheon Areum could see the tiny muscle twitch beneath the skin, the way his throat worked once on a hard swallow he tried to hide.
“Let’s take you to a healer first, and then we’ll talk.”
The words landed like stones in still water. Calm and reasonable, but Cheon Areum wasn’t satisfied with this reaction. He unbuckled his seatbelt and climbed over to Yoon Seoyul’s seat.
“Areum—”
Cheon Areum moved—awkward, stiff from bruises and exhaustion, but determined. He climbed over the center console in one unsteady motion, knees bumping the gear shift, palm slapping the dashboard for balance. The SUV rocked faintly on its suspension.
Yoon Seoyul’s hands shot out instinctively—grabbing Cheon Areum’s waist the second he was close enough—steadying him, not letting him fall. Even now, even angry, even hurt, he couldn’t not catch him. Cheon Areum easily settled on Yoon Seoyul’s lap facing him—straddling thighs that tensed immediately beneath him, chest to chest, knees bracketing hips.
The steering wheel pressed into his lower back; the seatbelt buckle dug into his thigh. The position wasn’t the most comfortable, but he didn’t care. He hugged Yoon Seoyul tenderly, slightly nuzzling his face into his clothes to lap up any lingering pheromones on him. Seeing how Yoon Seoyul still didn’t release pheromones for him, he readily apologized in a mushy tone.
“I’m sorry for going out without waiting for you…”
Doing his best in his condition, Cheon Areum nuzzled against his chest more, becoming a little anxious after still not receiving any pheromones. Yoon Seoyul patted his back, hugging him, but what about the pheromones he always released for him?
“Mm….”
Grabbing onto Yoon Seoyul’s clothes, tears formed in his eyes as he began whining needily to him, appearing so pitiful that anyone who could see him right now would lose his mind. So was Yoon Seoyul holding back even now?
“Seoyul…”
He whimpered, pressing his face into the crook of Yoon Seoyul’s neck, hot tears soaking the collar instantly.
“Please… please don’t be mad at me…”
Each word dissolved into another soft, pitiful sob. The same man who had massacred a city of human-alike monsters, clawed through a dungeon lake, absorbed three boss essences, pinned Kihyun to the ground with murder in his eyes… now reduced to a trembling, whining mess in his husband’s lap, begging not to be given the cold shoulder. Yoon Seoyul’s hands flexed on Cheon Areum’s waist, then loosened again, sliding up his back in slow, soothing strokes. His breathing was ragged as he replied to him.
“I’m not mad at you, Areum. Wait a moment for me to calm down. I will release the pheromones for you in a moment.”
Yoon Seoyul’s arms tightened around Cheon Areum like he was holding something fragile and infinitely precious. The pregnant omega’s swollen belly pressed warmly between them, a soft curve that fit perfectly against Yoon Seoyul’s abdomen, and every slow breath Cheon Areum took made their bodies rise and fall in perfect sync. Yoon Seoyul kissed his nape gently.
Cheon Areum quieted almost instantly.
The last of his hiccupping sobs melted into shaky exhales; his fingers—still curled tightly in Yoon Seoyul’s shirt—slowly loosened. Minutes passed in soft silence. Then Yoon Seoyul exhaled—long, controlled—and released his pheromones. Warm vanilla rolled out in thick, comforting waves. It flooded the car instantly, wrapping around Cheon Areum. The scent curled through every tense muscle, every frayed nerve, every aching joint, melting the last of the cold dread that had clung to him since the dungeon.
His spine went liquid; shoulders dropped; head lolled heavier against Yoon Seoyul’s shoulder as he buried his nose deeper into the crook of his neck and sniffed long, greedy inhales that pulled the vanilla scent straight into his bloodstream. Yoon Seoyul kept kissing—slow, reverent presses along the bite mark, then up the side of his neck as Cheon Areum’s thoughts finally cleared as he opened his eyes.
Cheon Areum had always been unstable, hence the reason he was prone to losing control, but with Kim Sangmin as the other stable side, there had been a balance—until he also started becoming unstable due to his pregnancy, and most importantly, when he was away from Yoon Seoyul. That left both sides crumbling to the negative energy. He either needed to find a way to stabilize himself even without Yoon Seoyul or stick to him religiously.
At that moment, a knock came on the window of the driver’s seat. Yoon Seoyul didn’t move, but Cheon Areum wanted to know who it was. With a small, reluctant sound, he reached sideways and pressed the button on the door panel. The window slid down with a low electric hum. A man in a crisp Central Bureau uniform stood outside—dark navy jacket, silver insignia on the collar, earpiece curling behind one ear. His eyes flicked—quick, involuntary—over the scene inside the car, but he quickly spoke out.
“Mr. Yoon Seoyul, we… the new awakener… he… disappeared into thin air. We lost him.”
