“Okay.”

Ethan Shaw raised the temperature in the room.

Despite several days of care, the scars on her back were still shocking to behold.

A cold glint flashed in his eyes. ’Prison is getting off too easy for Christina Lynch,’ he thought.

“Did I hurt you?”

A knock sounded at the door, followed by Ethan Shaw’s voice. “Can I come in now?”

“You’ve been at home so much lately. Isn’t it busy at the company?” Naomi Kenway asked.

“I’m working from home, but I make time to go into the office for a bit each day.”

Ethan Shaw grunted in agreement. “She brought it on herself.”

Naomi Kenway recalled the news she had just seen. A media outlet had exposed that Christina Lynch had a drug addiction and was currently undergoing police-mandated rehabilitation.

Another knock sounded at the door, followed by a crisp, feminine voice. It was Jenna Shaw.

When Ethan Shaw opened the door, he saw Luke Lowell following behind Jenna Shaw. Luke greeted him with a wide smile, “Hey, Cousin.”

“Naomi, how are you feeling?”

Jenna Shaw strode to the front and placed a thermal container on the table. “Grandma asked me to bring this. She said you love Mama Chandler’s soup, and since it’s hard for her to get around, she had me bring it. Grandma said it’s full of restorative ingredients and is very nourishing. Here, try some and see if you like it.”

“I’m not blaming you.” Naomi Kenway took a sip of the soup and smiled. “It’s delicious. I’ll go thank Grandma in person in a couple of days.”

Jenna Shaw smiled. “I’m glad you like it. You need to get well soon, Naomi. I heard what happened this time was deliberate, done by someone named Lin… what’s-her-name…” Her tone turned indignant. “People like that are just despicable! I wonder if she’s got some grudge against the world. She’d better hope she never runs into me, or I’ll break her legs and show her what karma is all about…”

Luke Lowell coughed lightly twice.
