Xie Shiqing’s hair was still wet, so it didn’t look as fluffy, but the curls were still holding up well—the perm was done nicely.

“Do you like it?” she asked. “If you do, I’ll keep it.”

She didn’t really care much about these outward things.

“I like what you like,” Zhong Ning said. “Whatever you like, I’ll like.”

In a soft voice, Xie Shiqing replied, “Me too. So what do we do now? We’re at a stalemate.”

“Alright, your hair’s dry. Go change into your clothes first. Once I finish drying mine, I’ll come and apply your medicine.”

“I’ll help dry yours,” Zhong Ning said, picking up the hairdryer from the table. “Come on, sit down.”

Once Xie Shiqing’s curly hair was dried, it fluffed up like a pinecone.

After they came out of the bathroom, Zhong Ning put on only her pajama pants and lay flat on the bed, obediently waiting for her ointment to be applied.

As she watched Xie Shiqing squeeze the ointment onto her fingers, she suddenly said in a low voice, “Actually, you don’t need to rub it in… Just applying it is enough. It’ll still get absorbed.”

“No,” Xie Shiqing said. “This way it heals faster.”

Seeing the bitter expression on Zhong Ning’s face, she couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll be gentle, I promise it won’t hurt as much, alright?”
