Chapter 224
What was she doing?
This person was the most standard template of a delicate and soft Omega. Even if she had the use of both hands, she wouldn’t be able to do anything.
When Zhong Ning had just arrived in this world, she was still unfamiliar with the presence of her new glandular organ, finding it completely unnecessary. But as time went on, she began to notice a certain charm in it.
For example, an Omega’s craving for Alpha pheromones, at certain times, could be quite the mood enhancer.
Out in public, when Xie Shiqing said some ambiguous things, Zhong Ning would feel embarrassed, but that didn’t mean she would still be as shy as a rabbit once they were back in the room.
She looked at Xie Shiqing steadily and said with meaning, “Alright, I trust you.”
It wasn’t the first or second time they had bathed together. She wasn’t shy about it. She grabbed the hem of her top with both hands and lifted it upward, easily pulling it off.
However, when she raised her arms, she stretched her stomach, and the pain made her shiver slightly. Fortunately, it was hidden by her clothes.
Who could really endure pain…
She had to bend down to take off her pants. Zhong Ning placed her hands on the waistband, but before she could move, another hand covered hers from above.
“Let me help you.”
Xie Shiqing lifted her eyes and met her gaze. The two of them were extremely close, their breaths mingling, lips barely apart.
Zhong Ning moved slightly, parting her lips, just about to kiss her—when Xie Shiqing suddenly squatted down and began untying the elastic string on her pants.
Her tongue lightly licked her upper lip. Zhong Ning lowered her gaze and said, “Shiqing, are you teasing me on purpose?”
Xie Shiqing looked calm. She raised her head and gave her a smile. “Of course not. Ning Ning, you’re injured right now. I said I wouldn’t do anything. It’d be bad if I accidentally touched the wound.”
Zhong Ning narrowed her eyes slightly but said nothing.
After Xie Shiqing helped her undress, she took off her own nightgown as well and turned on the shower. Warm water cascaded down from overhead.
She dragged over a small square stool and gently pressed down on Zhong Ning’s shoulders. “Sit down. I’ll wash your hair for you.”
Actually, this was one of Zhong Ning’s habits. She was used to sitting down while getting her hair washed or taking a shower. It was because when she was young, her mother used to wash her hair like that—using baby shampoo that wouldn’t sting even if it got into her eyes.
She had used that shampoo all the way until college, only switching brands because the original company had gone out of business.
She obediently sat down on the stool. Xie Shiqing picked up the showerhead and gently wet her hair. She rubbed shampoo between her palms to create foam, then spread it through her hair.
“You used to wash my hair like this.”
She tilted her head slightly, fingers weaving gently through the strands, working up a lather of white bubbles.
“Back then, I kept wondering, how could anyone be so gentle—it had to be an act.”
Zhong Ning closed her eyes and laughed softly. “Really? And now?”
“Now I think, maybe all the misfortunes I endured in the first half of my life were just to accumulate enough luck… so I could finally meet you.”
“I’m also lucky—to be able to enter your heart, and become the one you love.”
Zhong Ning pointed at her own lips. “Wanna give me a kiss?”
Who could possibly refuse such an invitation from the person they loved?
Xie Shiqing bent down and exchanged a damp, gentle kiss with Zhong Ning.
She had an excellent memory, and giving Zhong Ning a bath now was almost a complete reenactment of how Zhong Ning had bathed her before.
The feeling of taking care of someone was quite wonderful—it brought a sense of accomplishment. Her chest brimmed with a constant stream of love and tenderness, paired with a desire to offer the whole world to the person in front of her, hoping she could receive the best care possible.
After the bath, they wiped off the water droplets with towels and moved on to drying their hair.
Once her eyes recovered, Xie Shiqing’s hearing was no longer as sharp, so she could now tolerate some low-noise hairdryers.
Warm air blew out of the dryer, running through the short blue strands.
“Your black roots are starting to show.”
There was a bit of black at the hair roots, like a fountain pen dipped in blue ink.
“I already touched it up once. I’ll just leave it for now. Once the blue fades enough, I’ll switch to another color,” Zhong Ning said casually.
“How about pink?” Xie Shiqing gently swayed the hairdryer with one hand, while the other acted as a comb, running through her damp hair.
“You starting to like pink now?” Zhong Ning raised a brow. “Jingjing.”
Xie Shiqing’s eyes curved with amusement. “I just think you’d look really cute with pink. And you’re still young—it suits you to try bright colors.”
“What about you then?” Zhong Ning met her gaze through the mirror. “Is your curly wool hairstyle something you like?”
Xie Shiqing’s hair was still wet, so it didn’t look as fluffy, but the curls were still holding up well—the perm was done nicely.
“Do you like it?” she asked. “If you do, I’ll keep it.”
She didn’t really care much about these outward things.
“I like what you like,” Zhong Ning said. “Whatever you like, I’ll like.”
In a soft voice, Xie Shiqing replied, “Me too. So what do we do now? We’re at a stalemate.”
“Alright, your hair’s dry. Go change into your clothes first. Once I finish drying mine, I’ll come and apply your medicine.”
“I’ll help dry yours,” Zhong Ning said, picking up the hairdryer from the table. “Come on, sit down.”
Once Xie Shiqing’s curly hair was dried, it fluffed up like a pinecone.
“Maybe try a different hairstyle,” Zhong Ning said. “Jingjing is lovely, but the one I like is Shiqing—not her.”
“Alright,” Xie Shiqing responded.
After they came out of the bathroom, Zhong Ning put on only her pajama pants and lay flat on the bed, obediently waiting for her ointment to be applied.
As she watched Xie Shiqing squeeze the ointment onto her fingers, she suddenly said in a low voice, “Actually, you don’t need to rub it in… Just applying it is enough. It’ll still get absorbed.”
“No,” Xie Shiqing said. “This way it heals faster.”
Seeing the bitter expression on Zhong Ning’s face, she couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll be gentle, I promise it won’t hurt as much, alright?”
Zhong Ning let out a resentful sigh. “Even mild pain is still pain… Go ahead then, the sooner it’s rubbed in, the sooner it’s over.”
