Chapter 137: Mira vs imaguri
The Class 1 students hadn’t expected the Class 2 students to be this strong. They were quite surprised. with whispering filling the whole atmosphere. Different people speaking about their opinion on how things were going. Shortly after discussing something with master steil, Olmo faced the students. Without wasting much time, he called out Mira from Class 1 and the Class 2 student whose name was Imaguri. So up next will be the two of you, Mira and Imaguri. Mira was E-class. Imaguri was surprisingly E-class. So far this proved to be the only fair match between Class 1 and Class 2 students yet. Mira was quite nervous. She glanced over at jelo.
Jelo, who was already lost in his thoughts, didn’t notice Mira was staring at him. What could he be thinking of? Mira thought to herself. Ever since Atlas lost, he has been looking dejected. As if being drawn with the magnetic force, Jello’s eyes suddenly locked onto Mira’s . She kept on staring at him. He simply stared away, as if to say he wasn’t in the mood for any eye-to-eye contact or anything of sort. He suddenly felt a jab on his shoulder. He turned to see it was Ken. Are you alright? Ken said, smiling sharply. Ken had always seemed to be the most enthusiastic person Jelo knew. He never seemed to be down. Maybe it was because life favored him. He was from a wealthy family, He’s a class D, He’s good-looking. He’s tall. Life has been particularly good to him. There was nothing in particular for him to be worried about. He was always smiling and enthusiastic. Jello almost lost himself into thought again. He lost himself in thought again.
Sorry, nothing, he said, stuttering.
Mira and Imagucci were standing facing each other. All right, you know the rules, Olmo said. Now begin.
Mira slammed her palm down, and energy rippled through the air. Beside her materialized an exact duplicate—same determined eyes, same fighting stance, same crimson jacket.
“Two against one now,” both Miras said in perfect unison. “Let’s see you handle this, Imaguri.”
Imaguri stood motionless, eyes closed, breathing steady. Behind those closed lids, her unique sight painted the world in flowing rivers of light. She could see the luminous thread connecting Mira to her clone, pulsing with energy. And there, just left of center in Mira’s chest, burned the brilliant core that powered everything.
The two Miras charged from opposite sides.
Imaguri’s eyes snapped open. She ducked under the first Mira’s hook, letting the punch sail overhead while she studied the flowing energy in both bodies. The clone moved with fluid precision, but its core was different—smaller, fed by that tether to the original. The real Mira came at her from behind with a kick.
Imaguri caught the leg, and for a split second, she felt it—the exact location where Mira’s power concentrated and distributed through her limbs. Three inches below the left collarbone.
“Interesting,” Imaguri murmured, releasing Mira and backflipping away from the clone’s strike. “You split your power between them. Makes you both weaker.”
“We’re strong enough!” both Miras shouted.
They attacked in practiced coordination—high-low combinations, pincer movements, forcing Imaguri to constantly defend. The clone feinted left while the original swept for Imaguri’s legs. Imaguri jumped, twisted mid-air, and landed with her hand briefly touching the clone’s shoulder.
There. She’d felt it clearly. The clone’s core was artificial, sustained entirely by Mira’s energy.
“You’re good,” Imaguri admitted, breathing harder now. “But you have a fatal weakness.”
Mira’s eyes narrowed. Both versions circled Imaguri warily.
“Everyone does,” Mira countered. “Even you.”
“True,” Imaguri said. She stopped moving, closed her eyes again, and breathed deeply. The world became nothing but flowing light and pulsing cores. “But I can see yours.”
She moved like lightning. The clone lunged to intercept, but Imaguri slid under its guard, not even looking at it. Her entire focus was on that burning point in the real Mira’s chest—the source. She could see how the energy flowed outward from that core to Mira’s limbs, to her clone, cycling and distributing with each heartbeat.
Mira threw a desperate punch. Imaguri caught her wrist, twisted, and drove two fingers precisely into the spot just below Mira’s left collarbone.
Mira’s eyes went wide. Her core flickered like a candle in wind.
“No—!”
The clone vanished mid-strike, dissolving into wisps of fading energy. Mira crumpled to one knee, gasping, her power disrupted. She tried to form another clone, but only a partial shimmer appeared before collapsing.
Imaguri stood over her, hand extended but not threatening. “When you disrupt the core, even for a moment, the whole system falters. You pour so much energy into creating and maintaining clones that a direct strike to your source shuts everything down.”
Mira clutched her chest, breathing hard, unable to summon her power. She’d lost.
“It was a good fight,” Imaguri said quietly, offering her hand. “You almost had me with that pincer attack. But in the end, it doesn’t matter how many of you there are. You all run on the same power source.”
Mira stared at the offered hand for a long moment, then took it, letting Imaguri pull her to her feet. Her core was already stabilizing, but the fight was over.
All the class 1 students stood in shock. They were all surprised by how easily Mira was defeated. At the side, where the class 2 students gathered, chuckles and murmuring could be heard. Well that just goes to prove that regardless of the rank, experience dominates it all. Experience and battle IQ is superior. Two class 2 students were discussing really loud, as if to intentionally let the class 1 students hear, which they did. It seems they’re already getting really cocky, Ken said to Jelo. You can’t blame them. I mean, they’ve not lost any of the fights. What’s more to make them even cockier, than winning all the battles they’ve fought. We just have to bring their pride down by at least defeating one of their people, Jelo said. Glancing at Mira, she came over to his side. Are you okay? I’m fine, Mira said. Just lack of experience. I should have been more agile and cautious, Mira said. Well, that’s why we’re here to learn, Jelo replied her. I wonder who will be the next person to fight, Ken interrupted them. Well, we’ll see, Jelo replied him.
