Chapter 154: Group six
Here’s your scene expanded to 1200 words:
Earlier the next day, all the Class 1 students were gathered on the field, standing in uneven lines beneath the rising sun. At least fifteen Supers were present… and that alone was unusual.
But that wasn’t all.
At least fifteen other people were gathered there.
Fifteen Supers.
None of the students recognized them. They definitely didn’t work at the academy. Their posture, the way they stood—calm, confident, powerful—made it obvious.
They were professionals.
Heroes.
The air felt heavier than usual. Whispers spread through the students like wildfire.
Why were professional Supers here?
Olmo and Steil stood side by side at the front, seemingly deep in discussion. After a moment, Olmo stepped forward and cleared his throat.
The simple sound cut through the noise.
“You must all be wondering why we are gathered here… and why all these people are here.”
The murmuring stopped instantly.
Every student went silent, eyes locked forward.
They were eager. Curious. Slightly nervous.
Olmo’s gaze swept across them slowly, methodically, as though measuring each student one by one. He let the silence stretch just long enough to make it uncomfortable before he spoke again.
“As you all know, we want you all to be more than just students. We want you to be prepared… for the real world.”
A few students exchanged glances. The words weren’t new. They’d heard variations of that speech since their first day at the academy. But something about today felt different. The professional Supers standing behind Olmo weren’t decorations. They weren’t guests. They were here with purpose.
“Naturally, we would have trained you all by ourselves. I and Steil . But we want you to experience it firsthand.”
Olmo’s voice carried across the silent field.
“So we’ll be splitting you all into three main divisions. The Supers here—each one will be assigned to a group. They will mentor you, train you, and take you on real missions. By the end of this program… you will be battle-ready.”
A ripple of excitement spread through the students. Real missions. The words landed like a spark.
Some straightened their posture without even realizing it.
“We’ve already decided the groups… and which Super each group will be assigned to.”
He began calling out names.
“As for the first group: Ken, Tessa, and Johnny.”
Johnny—the silent, quiet kid in class. Jelo didn’t know much about him. He barely spoke unless spoken to. He always seemed to be drifting somewhere else in his head, present in body but not always in mind. Still, he moved to his position without hesitation when his name was called, calm as still water.
The list continued.
Names echoed across the field one after another. Students shuffled forward into their new formations, some relieved, some tense, a few visibly disappointed to be separated from their friends. The professional Supers observed without expression, watching the students the way hunters sized up terrain—quietly, carefully, without giving anything away.
Finally—
“As for Group Six… Jelo, Atlas, and Mira.”
Atlas almost exploded.
Mira?
Why did he have to be paired with her? One of the people he despised the most. He didn’t understand it. Out of everyone in the class, out of every possible combination Olmo could have put together, somehow he had ended up standing beside her. He exhaled sharply through his nose and said nothing, but the tension in his jaw said everything.
He leaned toward Jelo and muttered, “I’m sure you must be happy they paired us with Mira.”
Before Jelo could respond, Olmo continued.
“And the Super in charge of Group Six…”
He paused deliberately.
The pause was short. But it was intentional. Even Olmo seemed to understand the weight of the name he was about to say.
“…his name is Tongen.”
Tongen.
The name rolled across the field like thunder.
Tongen Bakari.
The moment the full name registered—
Gasps.
“The Bakari Clan?!” someone whispered.
The Bakari Clan was legendary. A lineage of Supers known for producing some of the strongest warriors to have ever existed—and still existing. Generations of fighters who had shaped the history of the Super world, whose names appeared in textbooks not as footnotes but as turning points. To carry the Bakari name was to carry expectation measured in blood and legacy.
And Tongen… he was one of their newest stars. A recent academy graduate who had already become a professional Super.
Powerful.
Handsome.
Charismatic.
Stunning.
The girls erupted into excited chatter. They had admired him for years—ever since his breakthrough during the Forgotten Day incident. They knew his face well. They’d seen it in articles, in broadcast footage, replayed across every screen in the city after that day. He had been impossible to ignore.
Though something was different.
His hair.
It used to be black.
Now it was dyed a deep, striking red.
It suited him in a way that felt almost unfair. Like every choice he made landed effortlessly.
When Tongen waved toward Group Six—
The entire field reacted.
Some screamed.
Some waved back wildly.
Others just stared in awe, the kind of stillness that came not from disinterest but from being genuinely overwhelmed.
Jelo noticed Atlas go very still beside him. Not in the way someone froze in excitement. In the way someone recalculated.
After assigning all the students to their Supers, Olmo stepped back and left everything in their hands.
Tongen walked toward Group Six with calm confidence.
He moved the way people moved when they had nothing to prove. No performance in his steps. No awareness of the stares still trailing him from across the field. He simply walked, hands loose at his sides, red hair catching the morning light.
Up close, his presence felt heavier. Controlled. Refined.
“Alright,” he said with a relaxed smile. “I’m Tongen. I’ll be the captain of this group. It’s nice to meet you.”
Before Jelo, Atlas, or Mira could respond—
Ken suddenly rushed over from his own group.
“That’s so cool! You guys were assigned to Tongen!” he blurted out, practically vibrating.
He turned to him excitedly.
“Hey, Tongen! I’m a huge fan. A really big fan of yours!”
Tongen smiled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head.
“Ah… thanks. I appreciate the support.”
One of the other Supers from across the field called Ken’s name before he could say anything else, and he jogged back reluctantly, throwing one last glance over his shoulder like he was leaving something behind.
Tongen watched him go, then turned back to the three of them.
Jelo, calm. Mira, composed. Atlas, arms crossed, jaw still tight.
“So,” Tongen began casually, hands sliding into his pockets, “we’ll be going on missions together. I’ll be helping you grow… and teaching you the basic things you need to know.”
His tone shifted slightly—less celebrity, more captain. The easy smile didn’t disappear entirely, but something behind his eyes settled into something steadier. Sharper.
“You’re not just students anymore. Out there, mistakes have consequences. So I’ll make sure you’re ready before anything serious happens.”
Atlas crossed his arms but listened.
Mira’s eyes sharpened with focus.
Jelo simply watched Tongen carefully.
“For now,” Tongen continued, turning slightly toward the academy gates, “let’s head out of the academy.”
That caught their attention.
“Don’t get too excited,” he added with a faint smirk. “We’re not jumping into danger immediately. We’ll await our first official mission.”
He glanced back at them.
“But until then… I want to see what I’m working with.”
