Chapter 233: Death of a Sin...
Chapter 233: Death of a Sin…
Turning back time a few minutes. East of the Empire’s capital.
The battle between two godlike beings was on the verge of escalating to a new level.
Greed had fully manifested, his entire body shimmering in gold. He was powerful—far stronger than Vulcanus in his current form. However…
[You… still aren’t at full power?!]
Fenrir’s declaration filled Greed with doubt about the very fabric of reality itself. She hadn’t even been using half of her strength!
“Curious how I did it?”
Fenrir smiled as she rose to her feet, dusting off her usual attire—light and revealing summer clothes. “Well, I won’t tell you. I have no obligation to do so.”
She stepped out of the deep crater, walking on air as if it were solid ground. Each step sparked outward, igniting the air around her.
As she approached, the atmosphere trembled, the skies darkened, and thunder rumbled in the distance as lightning crackled.
Something fundamental shifted within her. Greed sensed this change and began to sweat uncontrollably.
[N-No… No way!] He stuttered.
Right before his eyes, Fenrir’s aura surged, doubling… no, tripling in size!
Previously, she had already been overpowering him, and he was struggling to regain control. Now, he felt like a mere child in her presence. Trembling from the overwhelming pressure, she released her power silently.
Fenrir soon stood before him, their eyes meeting at the same level. Then, she smiled.
“Time to die.”
[…!]
Without warning, Fenrir moved.
She delivered a slap across Greed’s face.
Although it appeared to be a simple slap, the force behind it was so immense that the unfortunate Greater Demon felt as if his head might detach from his body!
BAM!
He flew across the battlefield, crashing into the ground and becoming buried in dirt and rocks. Dazed from the slap, he realized the damage was minimal. It wasn’t the end for him.
At least, not yet.
In a swift motion, he turned around, searching for Fenrir’s figure. He bit his lip, his eyes scanning the entire field, but he couldn’t find the gray-haired woman anywhere.
“Looking for someone?”
The voice of the one he sought echoed from right behind him.
By reflex, he turned around and swung his arm backward, launching a reverse Lariat!
THUD!
His arm struck Fenrir squarely on the side of her face.
He smiled, pleased that his attack had connected—only to frown deeper. After all, Fenrir’s smile remained unchanged. Or rather, the “attack” he had launched…
“What? Was there a mosquito?”
It seemed his blow hadn’t even registered with her, if at all.
[Bit—!]
Greed attempted to curse, but a fist quickly slammed into his face, caving it in once more. This time, however, the damage was far from “insignificant.”
His entire face felt as if it had exploded.
A gaping hole was nearly created, almost connecting his face to his nape.
With his real body restored, his regeneration was faster than before.
But Fenrir didn’t need to wait for him to recover before launching her next attack—no.
Instead, she unleashed a flurry of strikes: punches, kicks, hand chops, and slaps. She held nothing back.
Greed couldn’t find the words to speak amid the onslaught; all he could manage were moans, groans, and whimpers of pain. His head was nearly unrecognizable, his body riddled with cuts and gashes. His arms were severed, and his legs shattered.
In mere moments, he was beaten to a pulp.
“You’re still alive after all this?” Fenrir observed, her smile widening as she noticed his lingering resentment. “As expected of a Deadly Sin title holder. However, you’re nowhere near Pride’s level.”
[I…!]
Right then, Greed made his move.
With his broken leg, he launched a kick.
However, instead of aiming to inflict damage on Fenrir, it was more of a desperate attempt to buy himself a few precious seconds to breathe. Those fleeting moments allowed him to recover just enough to speak.
[I am not weaker than that bastard Pride!] He growled. [I never was, and I never will be!]
That point struck a nerve with him, and Fenrir immediately picked up on it.
“Oh? Really?” She seemed unfazed. “But I know for a fact that you’re weaker. Nothing can change that.”
[You bitch…!]
That taunt was the final straw. Greed decided to unleash everything he had, channeling 120% of his power.
The golden glitter surrounding him quickly coalesced into his four weapons once more, but that was just the beginning. Under Fenrir’s warm gaze, the weapons began to merge into a single entity.
An armor, forged from pure gold.
It enveloped Greed’s massive form from head to toe, leaving no part exposed. Even his eyes were obscured by the grills of the helmet!
“Are you done?” Fenrir asked, yawning. “Then come at me. Entertain me. If you do, I might let you live… though I’ll claim all but one of your lives.”
[Don’t get too cocky…!]
Greed charged forward like a football player going in for a tackle. His massive frame, now clad in full-plate golden armor, was intimidating in itself.
“Hup!”
But that was all it was: intimidation.
Fenrir raised a palm and caught the demon’s head, stopping him in his tracks. No matter how hard Greed tried to take another step forward, all he managed to do was dig into the ground behind him.
He didn’t budge an inch!
[Raaaaaagh!]
Of course, even knowing it was a futile effort, Greed continued to push with all his might.
“Oh…”
To his surprise, Fenrir actually moved back.
No, it wasn’t a miracle. It was Greed, pushing himself beyond his limits, causing his golden armor to glow brighter than the sun!
His armor amplified his strength, allowing him to push Fenrir back for a brief moment!
’Great!’ He thought, a smile finally crossing his lips. ’Just like this, I could overpower—!’
But just as he was about to celebrate, Fenrir’s death pronouncement came.
“This is boring,” she said. “Is this all you’ve got, really? I guess I’ve just become far too strong, too fast…”
Her expression conveyed a sense of utter boredom.
Now that they were connected through the Soul Seal, her stats had far exceeded those of an intermediate god.
In fact, her current stats were almost at the level of her original, unsealed self, despite still having three stages of the Gleipnir’s seal remaining.
Because of this overwhelming strength, she no longer had anyone who could truly “spar” with her. Even Axel, who had pushed the limits of human capability, was no longer a match for Fenrir, who had two levels of her seal unlocked.
As a result, she was constantly bored.
If not mating, she would simply be “playing” with the girls under the guise of sparring.
However, this was more stressful than relaxing for her. After all, she needed to constantly regulate her strength to avoid any casualties.
This time, after noticing the arrival of a Greater Demon while keeping an eye on the girls from a distance, she thought she might finally get a good fight.
But in the end, it was the same as always.
“This is enough…” she whispered, disappointment creeping into her voice.
Greed’s view spun rapidly, and in the next moment, he found himself soaring through the sky, ascending higher and higher into the clouds. He wasn’t flying, though; he didn’t know how to do that, especially not while encased in heavy gold armor.
Fenrir had “thrown” him upward with sheer brute strength!
Seeing Greed up there, she didn’t hesitate. Lowering her stance and gathering energy in her legs, she kicked off, launching herself after the demon.
Her kick was so powerful that the earth shook, creating a crater with a radius of several meters!
In an instant, she was before Greed.
Then, suspended in mid-air where the demon couldn’t dodge or maneuver, she unleashed a barrage of attacks, all aimed directly upward, propelling him higher into the clouds with each strike.
Each slap to his head rattled Greed’s brain. The punches left deep imprints on the golden armor, permanently deforming it. Even her kicks managed to bend his limbs at unnatural angles.
With every attack Fenrir launched, a significant portion of Greed’s life was drained.
If his extra lives were likened to a large plastic bottle filled with grains of sand, then Fenrir’s strikes were like a sharp knife, carving holes in the sides and draining those grains away!
Within seconds, his life was cut in half.
After ten seconds, it was down to a quarter.
Fenrir showed no signs of stopping.
At the half-minute mark, he was left with only a hundred or so lives.
Then, 45 seconds into the relentless assault…
[W-Wait… stop!] Greed pleaded desperately, gasping between the relentless strikes. [I only have ten lives left…!] He cried.
“Ten?” Fenrir paused her punches for a moment, then resumed with renewed vigor. “Still too many.”
She struck once, twice, thrice… nine times, before seizing Greed by the cuff of his shattered golden armor. Now, it was barely recognizable, hardly serving its purpose as attire, let alone armor.
“One last life?” she asked, her gaze fixed on the Demon’s eyes, which were filled with fear.
He wanted to nod, but his recovery was slow. Using up all his lives had drained his energy, leaving him with almost no strength to move.
As she watched him stare back, his eyes pleading for mercy, Fenrir sighed.
“Guess this is it.”
She raised her fist and curled it into a tight ball, ready to strike…
But before she could unleash her blow, Greed’s body suddenly erupted into light. Fenrir noticed this and quickly attempted to finish him off, her fist hurtling forward.
It was a race against time. Her fist sped toward him, grazing his broken nose once more. But that was all.
In the next instant, his entire body vanished, leaving only the remnants of his armor to clatter to the ground.
Fenrir frowned, unable to comprehend what had just occurred.
“…He escaped?” she muttered.
