Chapter 143: Chapter 138: Preparations
With the sage’s help, someone of high status and power, many things became easier.
Like Jeming and the others’ small maneuvers in the Royal Capital, they were able to proceed smoothly partly because the sage used his abilities to cover it up.
When David confirmed that Jeming and the others would act tonight to initiate faith contamination, thus creating opportunities for the High Tier Wizards,
David, to secure an additional contribution in the end, teamed up with the sage for the final move:
They secretly gathered all the high-ranking officials of all races—those who held the highest authority among mortals and could mobilize the army and organize resistance.
Then, they launched a pre-arranged magic trap devised by the sage, instantly slaughtering everyone before they could react.
This was the reason that, while Jeming and the five successfully escaped the Royal Capital, the city was thrown into chaos without anyone capable of managing the situation or organizing an effective counterattack.
Because by then, all the high-ranking officials were already dead in this silent “decapitation operation.”
This is also the key reason David ranked second on the contribution list.
He essentially participated in Jeming and the five’s faith contamination plan while also securing a massive contribution from executing the mortal leaders.
Therefore, apart from Jeming, the leader, he had the highest contribution points.
Feeling the messages from the Wizard Camp transmitted through the witchcraft artifact, a confident smile tugged at the corner of David’s mouth.
He knew that this move of his was remarkably successful.
On the other side, the sage, with a somewhat dazed expression, couldn’t help but recall his first encounter with David.
That young man presented the overwhelming power of the Wizard Civilization and the ultimate fate of the Elorcia Plane with a perspective not of this plane.
With the sage’s wisdom, he naturally saw through David’s strategy as a complete manipulation with empty hands.
If David could not persuade him, there would be no talk of contribution, and naturally no sufficient contribution to protect the living beings of the Elorcia Plane.
But he admitted that David spoke the truth. After clearly recognizing the powerful force of the Wizard Civilization, the sage understood that the Elorcia Plane had no chance of victory.
Only by aligning, could there be hope for survival.
Of course, besides survival, he could also choose to resist.
What truly moved him was David’s soul-stirring words:
“Sage, are you the sage of this world’s nobility, or of the living beings of this world?”
David had asked him this at that time.
The sage closed his eyes, and the question involuntarily brought back memories of his past dreams.
Thus, he made his choice.
In the social structure of the wizards, there is no place for the nobility, and the angered nobility would only increase David’s disdain.
So the sage decisively agreed to David’s decapitation plan.
He did not do it for those nobles, but for this plane to preserve a seed of fire, to continue existing in another form.
…
…
Although the divine spirits at the higher levels of the Elorcia Plane had been completely captured by the higher beings of the Wizard Civilization, integrating the remaining plane was still an enormous and complex task.
This Plane Community contains numerous sub-planes, each requiring meticulous integration and resource collection.
More importantly, handling the various intelligent and non-intelligent beings within the plane required careful consideration and evaluation to ensure it aligns with the highest interests and long-term planning of the Nolun Workshop.
Thus, in the short term, the wizard apprentices who came to participate in the trials found themselves with leisure time.
Fortunately, the disappearance of the plane barriers allowed them to leave this conquered plane and return to the Nolun Workshop at any time through the Space Transmission Device erected in the camp.
Initially, Jeming was conflicted.
He was deeply interested in the mysterious faith network of the Elorcia Plane and wanted to stay for further research.
Since the plane fell into chaos, the Red Dust Qi he could collect seemed to undergo subtle changes, urgently needing further exploration.
However, he still wanted to return to the Nolun Workshop first to inform Professor Clark and the others, as they had shown him significant attention and kindness.
Unexpectedly, before he could take action, Professor Clark directly contacted him.
Professor Clark’s voice was as calm as ever, with a hint of unnoticeable approval: “Jeming, we have already learned of your performance in this plane, and are very satisfied. Your contribution this time exceeded all our expectations.”
Jeming felt a warmth in his heart and humbly replied, “It’s all due to the tutor’s guidance over time.”
“Quit with the flattery.” Professor Clark chuckled lightly before his tone shifted, “There are many tasks waiting for us at Nolun No.13 Academy, and we will leave first.”
Jeming was slightly taken aback.
“Kid, make good use of this opportunity.” Professor Clark’s voice carried a hint of advice, “The faith network there is a treasure trove. I’ve done some research before, but due to insufficient materials, progress was limited. You have better conditions now, maybe you can pave a new path.”
“Thank you, Professor.” In Jeming’s heart, all his doubts vanished like smoke.
After bidding farewell to the mentors, Jeming stayed behind at the Wizard Camp.
The tense atmosphere that originally enveloped the place was now completely gone, replaced by a triumphant relaxation and bustle.
Some wizards, specifically responsible for resource inventory and plane integration, had already arrived and started the massive statistics work.
Jeming did not participate in these trivial affairs; he returned to the exclusive capsule assigned to him in the camp.
He organized and categorized some rare materials and items he collected from the Elorcia Plane, like stones with ancient patterns, special plant samples, and some relics from the Divine Hall.
Then, he took out his thick notebook and began earnestly recording important knowledge and insights gained during this time.
His pen danced across the pages, jotting down deeper understandings of the collection and application of Red Dust Qi.
He discovered that the stronger and more complex human emotions were, the more Red Dust Qi was produced.
However, such Red Dust Qi was extremely unstable, and using it to hone one’s will was dangerous.
On the contrary, Red Dust Qi produced in a state of calm was safer, albeit less in quantity and effect.
Thus, different Red Dust Qi required different utilization methods.
He also meticulously documented his ideas for improving the Talisman Witchcraft.
The recent plane war allowed him to verify the potential of talismans in actual combat and to find areas for enhancement.
He pondered on how to make the talismans better adapt to different plane energy systems, and how to extract energy more discreetly.
Of course, the most crucial was his research findings on the Divine Power Faith Network and his plans for continued research.
He even started envisioning establishing a new faith observation and experimentation system within his own domain.
Just as Jeming was immersed in his thoughts and recordings, his witchcraft artifact suddenly emitted a slight vibration.
He checked and found it was a communication request from David.
Jeming was a bit surprised, but promptly connected.
David’s figure appeared in the projection of the witchcraft artifact, no longer resembling the barbarian from their first meeting, but embodying the unique demeanor of a wizard.
“Jeming, congratulations on reaching the top.” David got straight to the point, his voice calm and direct, “I suppose you already know about my contributions in this mission.”
“You’re referring to those plane leaders who died in the hall?” Jeming raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying a hint of amusement.
The deaths of these leaders couldn’t be hidden from the wizards; soon the news had spread throughout the camp.
David’s lips curled slightly: “Exactly. However, there’s something else, for which I need your assistance.”
Jeming signaled for him to continue.
David’s gaze became slightly complex as he briefly explained his previous agreement with the Sage.
He emphasized that this was not merely a transaction, but a promise he made to leave behind a “spark” for the plane.
“Therefore, my goal is to propose a trade with you,” David said solemnly, “I can offer something in exchange—my research notes. These notes mainly comprise insights I gained after entering this plane, including my in-depth research on Power of Faith, Disguise Magic, and characteristics of some native creatures.”
He paused, with a hint of plea in his voice: “I hope you can help me take in a portion of the native intelligent creatures of the Elorcia Plane, and settle them in your future domain. I will provide a detailed list, ensuring these are groups chosen by the Sage, willing to undergo transformation, and harbor goodwill towards the Wizard Civilization. Rest assured, I will provide the necessary transformation potions and assist you in transforming them.”
Jeming tapped his fingers on the table, lost in thought.
David’s research notes… He knew David was a genius from Nolun Academy, and since they were research results gained after entering the Elorcia Plane, they were perfectly suitable for him.
More importantly, Jeming suddenly realized that after acquiring a domain in this plane, there seemed to be more he needed to accomplish.
He needed people to manage the domain, assist with his experiments, and even some loyal “test subjects” to observe the effects of the transformations.
And these native intelligent creatures, screened by the Sage and willing to integrate into the Wizard Civilization, were undoubtedly the best choice.
“I agree.” Jeming looked up, his gaze profound, “Your research notes are indeed valuable. As for those intelligent creatures, I can settle them in my domain and ensure they are cultivated in accordance with the Wizard Civilization.”
A barely noticeable relief and gratitude flickered in David’s eyes: “Thank you very much, Jeming. I will send you the research notes as soon as possible.”
The trade between the two was carried out smoothly, without even establishing a contract.
But both were aware that the other would not renege, as it benefited both parties.
After the communication was cut, a faint smile appeared on Jeming’s face.
