Chapter 168 - 158: Bottleneck and Dining
With the aid of the gravity training room and various resources, Jeming’s cultivation advanced exceptionally rapidly.
The refinement of the body and the sublimation of the soul progressed hand in hand, showing clear progress each day, with a palpable sense of improvement.
However, not every path is this smooth.
Especially in research, Jeming recently discovered that his studies related to the Divine Power Faith Network were unknowingly slowing down, and he had recently hit an indescribable bottleneck.
In his underground laboratory, once filled with data models and analysis runes regarding the Divine Power Faith Network, it now seemed somewhat stagnant.
The complex energy flow naturally attracting the Power of Faith from mortals, born from the plane, was like a vast starry sea.
Initially, he could easily capture the tides and directions on its surface, but when he tried to delve into its core to explore its underlying logic and laws, he encountered unfathomable resistance.
Jeming himself also understood that if he were to stubbornly and forcefully continue his research alone, it would not be impossible.
But he estimated that doing so would consume a daunting amount of time.
He tried various analytical methods and constructed thousands of simulation models, yet could only scratch the surface.
The Divine Power Faith Network is a grand bridge connecting mortals and divine spirits, the most intricate creation deep within the plane’s rules.
It involves not just the transmission of energy, but also the soul, faith, causality, and the laws of higher dimensions.
With his current status as a First Level Wizard, parsing such an existence was akin to a mortal attempting to fathom the universe’s mysteries.
Jeming estimated that if he wanted to fully understand the Divine Power Faith Network of the Elorcia Plane, at his current efficiency and with the resources he had, it would likely take thousands of years.
And those thousands of years would only bring him to the level of “fully understanding” it; to convert it for personal use or replicate a similar energy circulation system would require an immeasurably longer time.
Yet faced with such a problem, Jeming indeed had no good solution.
After all, core knowledge of this kind is generally not for sale, and even if it were, it could only be purchased with something equivalent to High Level Military Merits, which Jeming could not afford.
Today was the day Jeming delivered this month’s Red Dust Potion to Professor Clark.
He carried two vials of the potion, radiating colorful lights, and arrived via teleportation array at Professor Clark’s office in Nolun Academy.
Professor Clark accepted the potions, habitually using spiritual power to sense their effects, revealing a satisfied smile.
However, he immediately noticed a hint of anxiety and fatigue in Jeming’s spiritual fluctuations.
“Jeming, you seem to have something on your mind lately?” Professor Clark put down the vial and asked calmly.
The professor’s voice, though unemotional, held a power that could see into one’s heart.
Jeming did not hide anything, disclosing the bottleneck he’d encountered in his research on the Divine Power Faith Network and his astronomical time estimate to the professor.
Professor Clark, merely nodding slightly, showed no surprise in his profound eyes as if he had anticipated it.
He then stood up and gestured for Jeming to follow him.
“Come with me.” Professor Clark did not say much more.
Jeming was slightly taken aback but followed him instinctively.
The two of them stepped into a mini teleportation array at the corner of the office.
A gentle white light enveloped them, and the sensation of spatial distortion flickered and disappeared.
When his vision cleared, Jeming found himself in a completely different world.
This was not the cold and rigorous laboratory of the Nolun Workshop but a piece of vibrant land.
Above was a gentle warm sun, below was verdant grass, and not far away was a trickling stream.
“This is my personal plane.” Professor Clark’s voice sounded beside him, “The place we’re at now is my private residence and research base.”
Jeming immediately understood that this was actually the personally dedicated laboratory established in Professor Clark’s “Wizard Tower.”
He looked around and found that the laboratory they were in was embedded in a giant floating crystal island, surrounded by various element runes, with energy flowing like a rainbow, appearing grand and mysterious.
“Professor…” Jeming wanted to ask why he was brought here.
However, Clark had already turned and walked ahead: “Let’s go, I’ll treat you to a meal today.”
Professor Clark led Jeming out of the laboratory, through a neatly trimmed wooded path, directly to a majestic architectural complex at the center of the floating island.
It was an extremely luxurious mansion.
The main building is a towering palace constructed of white marble and golden rune bricks, elegant and grand in style.
The spires at the palace’s top stretch high into the sky, each brick and tile shimmering with a faint energy glow.
In the spacious courtyard, various otherworldly plants are planted, each with unique shapes and vibrant colors, some even emitting a faint glow or spreading a refreshing fragrance.
A clear lake surrounds the mansion, its surface calm like a mirror, reflecting the silhouette of the palace, with some unknown amphibious creatures frolicking in the water.
The palace gates are made of two gigantic metal doors embedded with magic crystal stones, and at this moment, they sensed Clark and Jeming’s approach, opening slowly.
Jeming walked inside, discovering an extremely vast interior space, with the hall’s lofty dome decorated with magic murals of swirling stars.
What surprised Jeming was that the servants welcoming them in the hall and serving dishes in the dining room were clearly not Wizard World Humans but humanoid creatures.
Their forms varied.
There were “Lizardmen” covered in scales, wearing exquisite guard attire, looking exceptionally elite.
There were “Horned People” girls with small horns on their heads, their skin a pale blue, and eyes sparkling like gems, holding trays and moving gracefully and silently.
There were even some “Flower Spirit” clan members with petite figures and transparent butterfly wings on their backs, spiraling in the air, sprinkling stardust.
These alien race creatures, despite their differences in appearance, exhibited high intelligence and well-trained manners.
“These are my ‘vassal’ races.” Professor Clark noted Jeming’s confusion and explained briefly.
He pointed at a Lizardman attendant pulling out a dining chair for them, speaking calmly:
“I allow the people of these vassal races to live in my Plane, providing them with protection and a stable living environment. In return, these races offer combat power when needed, forming a vassal army to assist me in attacking other Planes.”
“This is also what many High Tier Wizards do after finding suitable intelligent races in other Planes,” he continued, “In the future, you can also find some oppressed races in other Planes, provide them shelter, let them flourish in your Plane. And when you need strength, they will become your most loyal vassal army.”
Jeming nodded thoughtfully.
It wasn’t unfamiliar to him, after all, the ways for Wizards to deal with indigenous people were always limited, and he had heard rumors about it before.
However, it was indeed his first time seeing a practically meaningful vassal race.
“So, in theory, every High Tier Wizard is a complete war system,” Clark concluded, “composed of the High Tier Wizard themselves and the Wizard Towers they own in their Planes as high-end combat power, the Artificial People or Biochemical Beasts they produce as elite core forces, and these vassal armies as the largest and most basic low-end combat power.”
“A High Level Wizard, relying on their own strength, can independently attack other Planes and even conduct long-term Plane colonization.”
Jeming imagined that scene in his mind, feeling somewhat shocked.
After the two sat down, a sumptuous feast began.
The table was filled with exotic foods from various Planes.
The foods varied in appearance, some were quite bizarre, like jumping black meat chunks, luminescent fungi, or blue fruits resembling eyeballs, but all exuded tantalizing fragrances.
Jeming cautiously took a bite, his eyes lighting up; despite their strange appearances, these foods were incredibly delicious.
The texture was rich, with an endless aftertaste.
More importantly, after special processing, these foods had significant benefits for the eater.
With each bite, Jeming felt a cool energy seep into his body, nourishing his Spiritual Power, and subtly enhancing his physique.
As he ate, Jeming silently took note of this.
These exotic foods, while not as immediately effective as Magic Potions in enhancing strength, served as an additional boost outside of cultivation.
If consumed daily over time, the effects could be considerable.
He decided he could incorporate these otherworldly delicacies into his daily diet as a supplement to his cultivation.
During the meal, Professor Clark carefully inquired about Jeming’s progress in the research of the Divine Power Faith Network.
Jeming described in detail his current bottleneck and the difficulty of only reaching the surface level of energy transmission technology.
After knowing that Jeming only researched a part of the surface-level energy transmission knowledge of the mysterious faith network, Professor Clark could not help but shake his head, revealing a faintly helpless expression.
He said nothing more, slowly standing up from his seat and walking into the adjacent study.
A moment later, he returned, holding a small bag emitting spatial fluctuations, handing it to Jeming.
“This is my research manuscript on the Divine Power Faith Network,” Professor Clark said calmly, “Although the Divine Power Faith Network I researched is a product of another Plane, not Elorcia, the laws of all things are universal, and it should also provide some inspiration for you.”
