【 CONSECUTIVE DIVINE DESCENTS 】
“Luria, Alyssa… So it was the two of you.”
The demon wolf Fenrir’s expression turned serious.
“As expected, Her Grace was right. As enemies entrenched in the underground, there’s no way you would miss this opportunity. Still… I didn’t expect you to descend in person and not use an Incarnation.”
Fenrir spoke warily.
If it were just the two demigod totem guardians and the eight Legendary from Uller’s side, then Fenrir was confident he could hold his own.
But with these two evil gods now in the mix, it was a completely different story.
Although Luria and Alyssa had only recently awakened and hadn’t fully regained their full strength, a true god was still a true god, after all.
Even if they were fallen and corrupted, the power they wielded was terrifying.
In a one-on-one fight, Fenrir believed he could hold his ground. But now it was clear, the enemy had joined forces.
As Fenrir watched them grimly, the two evil gods smiled faintly.
“Fenrir, we meet again.”
A vast pressure descended upon the battlefield, carrying a sinister and heart-stirring aura.
Unlike when Uller’s energy incarnation descended, this time, all the players felt an overwhelming, indescribable weight settle over their hearts. The weaker ones were even shocked to discover they had lost control of their own bodies.
This wasn’t soul-based oppression…
Rather, it was the divine suppression of true gods!
Yet, even under the crushing presence of such terrifying entities, the players didn’t show a trace of fear.
To the surprise of both fallen angel Luria and Queen of Pain Alyssa, these tiny elven figures on the ground who should have been insignificant as ants weren’t panicking or disoriented by the arrival of many mythical beings.
Instead, they looked up at them with excited anticipation.
Not only that, their supposedly inaudible chatter clearly reached the ears of the two evil gods…
“Holy crap! Holy freakin’ crap! Who are those two? New NPCs?”
“Six black wings… Are they angels? Dark angels? Fallen angels?”
“So cool! Seriously cool!”
“A woman with human head and snake body? Pfft… Did Lady Nüwa wander onto the wrong set?”
“No no… this is definitely a western fantasy design!”
These were the comments of public players unfamiliar with the two evil gods.
Hearing the elves’ casual banter, the two gods subtly furrowed their brows.
Even Fenrir, with his solemn demeanor, couldn’t help twitching the corner of his mouth.
It wasn’t the first time they had encountered these strange elves, but their blatant fearlessness still caught them off guard.
After all… casually commenting on divine beings wasn’t something just anyone dared or was able to do.
Queen Alyssa’s gaze darkened slightly.
Luria, on the other hand, showed a faint smile of interest.
He had sensed an odd kind of curiosity and even closeness in the words of the elves below, especially from the female ones…
And as a god infamous for leading souls astray, curiosity was always the first step toward corruption.
What he enjoyed most was dragging noble, beautiful beings from their lofty pedestals and into the abyss.
But soon, he heard a very different kind of conversation…
“Hey, you guys probably don’t know this, but those two are evil gods from the Netherworld. One’s the fallen angel Luria, and the other is the Queen of Pain, Alyssa…both are enemies of the Goddess and the Goddess of Death.”
“Don’t be fooled by how menacing they look now. When the Goddess and Hela showed up last time, they ran like rabbits, fast as hell. And they even ditched Old Azzy in the process.”
These were the veteran players explaining things to the newer ones.
Old… Old Azzy?
Who’s that?
Luria’s heart skipped a beat.
He had a vague idea who they were referring to, but the casual, almost friendly tone the elves used made him feel a little uneasy.
And the player chatter continued.
Only now, the tone began to shift.
“Still… the more I focus on them, the more I start to feel uneasy about their aura.”
“This must be the ‘evil energy’ the system mentioned, right? I don’t know how they simulated it, but it’s just…really unsettling.”
“Hahaha, you guys clearly haven’t fought Old Azzy yet. Go grind in the Demon Lord Dungeon more. Azazel loves using this kind of aura to suppress people.”
“Don’t even bring it up. You guys have bullied Old Azzy into social withdrawal.”
“Hahahahaha…”
Fallen Angel Luria: “…”
Queen of Pain Alyssa: “…”
Azzy….Azazel?
“Social withdrawal?!”
Hearing an unexpected name from the mouths of the elves, the two evil gods were momentarily stunned.
They had known that Azazel had been sealed away by the Goddess of Life. But from what the elves were saying… it sounded less like a sealing and more like he’d been domesticated and used as live training fodder for these elves?!
Using a fallen god as sparring practice for mortal ants?
For a moment, the expressions on the two evil gods were quite something.
Of course, both were ancient beings, having lived who knew how many eons. Although bewildered, they quickly composed themselves again… until the players’ conversations grew increasingly outrageous.
“It’s not just their aura that’s unpleasant. If you take a closer look and compared them, Thranduil’s way more handsome. This fallen angel guy is just… too flamboyantly evil. It’s overdone.”
“Agreed. Hubby Thranduil is way hotter—and gentle too!”
“Pfft. You do know he’s edgy as hell on the inside, right?”
“By the way, who the heck modeled the Queen of Pain? That design is seriously borderline R18+! How did it even pass the board of regulations review?”
“Surprisingly, there’s no holy light censorship filter on her… maybe because she’s not technically showing anything?”
“But don’t you think that makes it even more suggestive?”
“Heh… maybe. Still, monster girls aren’t really my thing.”
“Same. Honestly, her design’s kinda ugly to me.”
Luria: “…”
Alyssa: “…”
The elves’ increasingly shameless chatter finally struck a nerve.
Luria merely frowned.
But Alyssa, on the other hand, grew visibly cold.
With a quiet hum, her body surged with dark purple divine energy. A faint, purplish-black mist began to spread across the battlefield!
The mist carried a corrupting power. Players who came into contact with it were startled to find purplish spots forming on their bodies, accompanied by a dull ache spreading through their limbs.
The pain was so vivid, they instinctively wondered if they had forgotten to turn off their pain settings.
It didn’t stop there either as some players with weaker mental resistance began to feel a wave of inexplicable irritation. Their expressions dimmed, and many fell into silence, their once lively chatter dwindling into gloomy murmurs that bordered on depressive.
Pain Corrosion.
This was one of Queen Alyssa’s abilities—a divine power that inflicted overwhelming physical and mental anguish on those it infected.
The torment was often enough to make one long for death.
It twisted one’s minds with frightening speed, compelling victims to end their own lives and offer up their souls in sacrifice to Alyssa.
Yet, to Alyssa’s surprise… the elves’ reactions were oddly underwhelming.
Even those fully exposed to the corruption did little more than mutter a few dejected remarks.
That was when Alyssa finally noticed—it wasn’t that they were resisting the pain.
It was that… they didn’t even have souls within them.
Her divine power could only affect their minds—not their spirits which greatly weakened its effectiveness.
This realization finally sparked some genuine interest in these elves.
Raising a hand, Alyssa summoned a massive purple-black energy claw and reached down toward them.
But just as the claw descended, a golden light suddenly burst upward from the elven ranks!
Radiant holy light swept across the battlefield, instantly dispersing the lingering pain mist. Countless green particles, like fireflies, danced through the air as the corruption on the players’ bodies rapidly faded and vanished.
Under the stunned gazes of the orcs and the delighted cheers of the elves, the barren battlefield began to transform. The dry earth came alive with fresh shoots of green. In the blink of an eye, grass carpeted the landscape, and brilliant wildflowers began to bloom one after another.
It was a divine invocation from the divinity of Life and Nature—Hymn of Vitality.
Accompanied by a sacred, ethereal chorus, vines and blossoms spiraled into the sky, shaping the glowing outline of a new divine presence high above the battlefield.
Long silver hair, violet eyes, slender pointed ears.
She wore a skirt-armor adorned with floral motifs, a radiant divine crown, and held a scepter wrapped in blooming vines and sacred light—
At long last, Evé too had descended.
With the debuffs vanishing from their bodies, the players instantly felt a wave of clarity and energy.
Then, spotting the familiar and beloved figure in the air, they erupted with excitement:
“It’s the Goddess! The Goddess is finally here!”
“Haha! I finally got to see her in person!”
“Praise the Goddess! Praise Nature! Praise Life!”
“My waifu is the best!”
“Goddess supremacy!”
Cheers, whistles, and even excited howls filled the air, creating a chaotic symphony of praise and admiration.
Despite the commotion, the overwhelming reverence the elves held for the Goddess of Life was unmistakable.
Though some of their words might have sounded odd—or even irreverent—to the ears of the other deities, the heartfelt devotion and admiration within them sent a chill through both Luria and Alyssa.
They observed this newly risen god, whom they had encountered only once before. She had steadily gained renown across the continent thanks to the war in the underground.
Narrowing their eyes slightly, they watched her closely.
“We meet again, Goddess of Life,” Luria said calmly.
But after sensing that Eve’s divine aura had grown even stronger than during their previous encounter in the underground, his expression turned grave.
“You’ve grown rapidly,” he remarked. “At this rate, you may well reach intermediate divine power within another year or two.”
He paused, then added thoughtfully, “But such swift ascension must have come at a price, no?”
His gaze lingered on Evé, curious and analytical. When his eyes fell upon the scepter in her hand, a faint, nearly imperceptible flicker of greed flashed within them.
The Scepter of Life…
To any god striving to regain their strength, it was a precious divine artifact of immense value.
Evé, however, simply smiled.
“Every price I’ve paid,” she said gently, “was worth it.”
Then, glancing into the cosmic void above, her expression turned playful.
“Your Excellency Uller,” she called out, “I’ve fought your incarnation before. I remember your aura well. Did you really think you could spy on me from such a close distance and go unnoticed?”
Luria and Alyssa’s expressions remained unchanged, but a cold snort echoed through the void in response.
Moments later, silver light gathered and coalesced in mid-air, forming a new figure:
The God of Winter and Hunt—Uller, descended once more upon the realm of Seigües.
Of course, with the planetary pathways sealed, it was still only one of his incarnations.
Yet compared to the incarnation Evé had once lured into her divine kingdom and destroyed, this one was different. Its aura was deeper, its form more solid. Though not quite equivalent to his true body, it wasn’t far off.
This was Uller’s core incarnation—the most refined, powerful incarnation he had ever crafted, forged over time with immense divine power.
As Uller revealed himself, the players below erupted once again:
“Holy crap! The musclehead god’s back!”
“Is that his real body or another incarnation?”
“Still ugly as ever. Quite frankly, his statue looks better.”
“Haha… I can’t unsee it ever since I read that BDSM doujin of him and the goddess. It totally ruined my mood…”
Uller: “…”
Evé: “…”
With the players chatter becoming increasingly absurd, Evé waved a hand, casting a mass silence spell that instantly disabled all the player voices.
Thus, peace once again returned to the world.
Uller snorted and studied Evé before sneering,
“So tell me… should I call you Evé, or Yggdrasill?”
“Either will do,” Evé replied with a serene smile. “Since I’ve inherited the divinity of Life and Nature, it’s only fitting I also inherit such great name.”
A truth cloaked in fiction, and a lie laced with truth.
Then her expression hardened. The warmth in her eyes faded, and the air around her grew colder.
At the same time, a terrifying surge of divine power rose from her body—a power far beyond that of a mere demigod incarnation.
It was the fluctuation of divine law, of raw energy, that only a true god’s physical descent could ever produce.
For a newly risen god to descend in person, it could only mean one thing…
—This was her true body.
“You have two choices,” she said coldly. “Either return the divine kingdom that rightfully belongs to the World Tree… or face destruction. Let your incarnation be shattered, and may the Desert of Death become a footnote in history.”
Uller didn’t seem surprised. After taking a moment to feel her divine aura, he sneered and shook his head.
“You seem stable on the surface… but you’re clearly already insane.”
With that, he snapped his fingers.
A pillar of golden light burst from the direction of Sandstorm City, shooting into the sky and transforming into a massive energy prison that engulfed everything within a ten-kilometer radius.
As the cage descended, both Fenrir and Evé felt the pressure.
Fenrir’s divine power dropped from the peak of demigod to mid-rank, while Evé, though her power remained intact, sensed that the laws of this region were being suppressed.
She could no longer access the full might of her divine kingdom.
Granted, Uller’s incarnation, powerful as it was, couldn’t use his divine domains directly either.
Moments later, Uller, while also being accompanied by Luria, Alyssa and several of his totem guardians, surrounded Evé and Fenrir.
“You dared to come here in person,” Uller said with a cold laugh. “Then prepare to fall here today.”
But just as he finished speaking, a calm and elegant voice rang out:
“I have no intention of getting involved in your conflict. However… Lord Uller, surely your patron god reminded you—true gods should never consort with evil ones, let alone… collude against another true god, right?”
A moment later, a silver-haired man appeared on the battlefield.
It was Platinum Dragon King—Reinhardt.
