【 DESCENT 】
—
As they gazed at the illusory phantasm in the sky, slowly taking shape, the Frost Elves’ eyes filled with tears and their voices quivered.
“Matriarch… that is the Goddess’s radiance! The Matriarch has truly revived…. She has personally come to guide us home!”
The Abyssal Giant Serpent, Apophis, became completely solemn, its expression darkening with each passing second.
“A true god…”
Even the three newly appeared Abyssal Mythical beings in the distance stopped in their tracks, casting wary glances at the golden apparition.
Meanwhile, Aurora stared blankly at the familiar divine figure. Her gaze gradually lost focus as she whispered,
“Matriarch… Your Majesty…”
Her voice carried unwavering sincerity and fervent devotion. Yet beneath that devotion lay a subtle emotion, tinged with quiet grievance and unease.
In that moment, this powerful Demigod resembled a child who had been away from home far too long, mistreated and abandoned, finally catching sight of the mother they had longed for through countless days and nights.
Similarly, the collective souls that comprised “Uria,” who had been ignoring its injuries and clinging desperately to the Giant Serpent, had also come to a halt.
Its hollow, vacant eyes were fixed on the solidifying golden light, its decayed head trembling as though even the slightest movement might shatter it.
Instinctively, it lifted its massive festering hand, corroded beyond recognition by the serpent’s venom, before reaching toward the radiance with a desperate, futile longing.
From its throat came a dull, fractured voice.
“Mat…ria…rch…”
It still lack any semblance of emotion, yet, compared to its earlier guttural growls, there was now an unmistakable trace of gentleness to its tone.
Two streams of black, blood-like tears poured from its empty eye sockets, carving deep, glistening paths down its rotting face.
“Matriarch…?”
Hearing the two elven demigods address the golden phantasm, Apophis widened its eyes in shock.
Staring at the peerlessly beautiful figure in the sky, with its silver hair and violet eyes deeper than the starry heavens, and at the resplendent celestial gown it wore, the familiar figure, whom Apophis known only from old legends in its memories, slowly merged with the one before it.
In the next instant, a flash of disbelief crossed the lone remaining crimson pupil of Apophis. Its already grim expression deepened, darkening further under the weight of profound shock.
“T-That being is… no… impossible!”
The beautiful, sacred figure in the sky slowly turned her gaze toward it.
Her eyes, dignified and serene, seemed to pierce through all things in the world. Under her unwavering gaze, the once-domineering Abyssal Serpent, which had arrogantly looked down upon anyone within this dark world, suddenly felt panic and humbled, as though it were small and inconsequential.
A sacred, surging divine aura radiated outward, filling the surroundings with a majesty that drove away the darkness which had long permeated the land.
Accompanied by ethereal hymns that seemed to echo from the void itself, the divine figure slowly raised her right hand.
Then, with deliberate grace, she pressed it downward.
In the very next moment, brilliant radiance erupted upon the Cliff of Sorrows.
On the dark mountainside, a tide of seven-colored light shimmered like a river of pure radiance cascading from the heavens, flowing downward with unstoppable force.
They were the players who had chosen to partake in this battle.
Like knights answering the call of their lord, a myriad of magic spells and martial techniques flared around them, and under the goddess’s command, they charged straight into the tides of demons down below.
Those at the forefront shone with an especially brilliant light, their auras continuously rising as they received divine favor and entered Godwarden-state!
All these players, serving as the vanguard, felt their strength skyrocket in an instant as their rank was elevated to the next tier.
Their radiance continued to spread to the extent that even the other players behind them were enveloped in a dazzling glow.
Feeling the surging power at the front, the rest of the players’ spirits soared in response. Their primary senses sharpened, and the magic within them surged ceaselessly after receiving the blessing buff bestowed by the goddess.
“For the Glory of the Goddess” echoed in their ears, teasing their nerves and stimulating the adrenaline that was already burning within them.
Their breathing grew heavier, the sharp light in their eyes grew brighter, and the blood in their veins burned ever hotter.
Amidst the cheers of, “We’ve been strengthened!” “It’s here! The divine favor is here!” “Kill them all!” they bared ferocious grins and pushed their speed even further.
Then, with even greater momentum, they surged toward the demon tide.
On the slope of the cliff, dazzling radiance spilled across half the sky, relentlessly tearing through the oppressive darkness.
It was light descending upon this dark world, heralding a dawn that had long been awaited, finally bringing a momentary end to the endless night.
The players swept downward like an unstoppable multicolored torrent in their advance. Their combined presence, flowing like a living galaxy, surged ceaselessly along the cliffside, cascading without hesitation.
It tore through any demons in its path and advanced with absolute inevitability, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake.
Amid the deafening roars, the demon army that had been locked in a stalemate with the undead elven legion and the Frost Elves was instantly shattered by the multicolored torrent, which charged forth like tens of thousands of galloping warhorses.
The long-standing darkness was actually pushed back, little by little, by the multicolored torrent.
Then, like a dam collapsing, it finally gave way completely and disintegrated.
However, the torrent formed by the players did not slow its advance.
They were like searing magma surging forth after a volcanic eruption, continuing to burn with dazzling brilliance as they pressed onward down the cliff.
Before long, they collided with the supermassive black tide summoned by the Abyssal Serpent, Apophis.
That colossal black tide, which had previously surged forward like a tsunami toward the Cliff of Sorrows, was forced to a complete halt under the impact of the multicolored torrent.
In the next moment, an even fiercer battle erupted across the battlefield.
Carrying the goddess’s blessing, the players charged fearlessly like warriors without hesitation, wielding their weapons as they unleashed various martial skills and magic spells, before plunging into the black tide to clash directly with the demons and monsters.
Witnessing such awe-inspiring scene, the Frost Elves widened their eyes in shock.
At that moment, they felt their own blood beginning to boil.
As they looked at the ferocious and malevolent demons and abyssal monsters, a trace of hatred surfaced on their faces still wet with tears of excitement.
“My fellow clansmen! Let’s help our kin! Let’s tear those demons apart, and then return back home together!”
Someone in the group roared in fury.
“Tear them apart! Return home together!”
More Frost Elves roared in response, raising the weapons in their hands.
To the astonishment of the players, these mutated elves turned around as well, charging forward with an even fiercer and more unstoppable momentum, like awakened war gods, joining the multicolored torrent as they surged toward the black tide.
The radiant light that shone upon the players quickly spread outward, enveloping the Frost Elves as well.
It was the goddess’s blessing.
The undead elven legion also joined the Frost Elves, protecting the latter as they advanced. With beast-like growls, they charged toward the Black Tide.
Eventually, the players reached and merged with the Frost Elves and Undead Legion. Together, they formed an even more magnificent and resplendent wave.
That wave surged downward, gradually transforming into a tsunami.
The tsunami roared as it descended with incomparable force, completely washing away the surging, black tide amid the demons’ and monsters’ terrified gazes.
High above the battlefield, the Abyssal Giant Serpent, Apophis, stared in disbelief at the ensuing chaos below.
“It has collapsed…”
“The black tide has actually collapsed…”
“How… how is this possible? The black tide collapsed in a direct frontal assault!”
However, its shock did not last long.
In the next instant, it sensed a vast presence locking onto it.
An unprecedented sense of danger rose within its heart, and Apophis shuddered coldly.
It could not remember how many years had passed since it last felt such fear.
Slowly raising its head, it looked toward the sacred and beautiful figure in the sky, the dread in its heart growing stronger with each passing moment.
“All Divine Mother… Yggdrasill…”
It finally forced out that long forgotten title which had once resounded across the entire universe, along with the old name of the Sovereign who had ruled the Silver Era for tens of thousands of years.
Then it abruptly turned its head and roared toward the three Abyssal Mythical beings it had attracted, its voice sharp with urgency and fear.
“Luria, Alisa, Anduria, what are you standing there for?! Hurry and help me!”
“We will all perish to the All Divine Mother if we do not destroy her incarnation right now!”
Yet when Apophis turned back, it froze slightly.
Two of the three Abyssal Mythical beings had already changed direction and were fleeing toward the distance.
The third hesitated briefly before turning as well, fleeing in another direction.
Immediately afterward, the three mythical dragons let out piercing roars and split into three separate paths, taking off in pursuit of the fleeing abyssal beings.
Watching these figures vanish from its sight in an instant, Apophis froze in shock, and its stunned expression quickly gave way to pure rage.
“Luria! Alisa!”
“You two cowardly pieces of trash who escaped from the Prime Material Realm!”
But before he could continue berating them, a cold, detached gaze swept down from the sacred figure in the sky. Under that terrifying pressure, Apophis shuddered once more.
Since becoming a mythical being, it had not felt anything like this for a very long time.
It swallowed with difficulty, slowly raised its head, and finally met the gaze of that fearsome lofty existence.
Apophis: “…”
Only two words came to mind at that moment.
Beautiful. Peerless.
Especially those mysterious and profound violet eyes, which seemed capable of drawing anyone who looked into them into their depths.
Even by the aesthetic standards of an evil god like Apophis, this being was undoubtedly among the finest of divine mythical beings
.
Yet at this very moment, Apophis felt not the slightest urge to admire her.
Within its heart, there was only intense vigilance and a fear it could barely suppress.
“Yggdrasill… you… no. To think that Your Majesty has actually revived…”
The Abyssal Serpent’s voice now carried a tone tinged with respect.
As it fixed its gaze on the being in the sky, it began to retreat cautiously, inch by inch, even as it continued to spoke.
“You have come to get those Elves back, have you not?”
“I can feel your immense power… it truly inspires awe.”
“I have no intention of continuing to oppose you. Perhaps it is best if we each take a step back for the time being.”
“Remember, this is still the Abyss, and I’m sure your incarnation cannot fully deploy its Celestial Domain here.”
“Presumably… in your benevolence, you would also be unwilling to see further casualties among the Elves, would you not?”
As it spoke, its crimson eyes swept over the Elves still fighting on the ground, sharp and calculating.
Though its posture remained outwardly respectful, the subtle threat woven into its words was unmistakable.
The divine figure in the sky once again cast a cold, detached gaze downward.
Confronted by those emotionless violet eyes, a growing sense of unease surged through Apophis.
At that moment, Aurora’s firm voice rang out.
“Matriarch, Your Divine Majesty! You must not allow Apophis to leave!”
“It already knows your identity. Those three Mythical Beings who fled are also aware of who you are. They cannot be allowed to escape!”
At the sound of Aurora’s words, a flash of fury ignited in Apophis’s eyes.
It opened its mouth to respond, but a pair of massive, decayed hands suddenly wrapped around its slender body once more.
“A… po… phis…”
The stiff, guttural voice echoed again.
Uria stared vacantly, its arms locking the Abyssal Serpent in an unyielding grip.
Apophis struggled violently, only to realize, to its shock, that it could not break free from the restraint. Turning its head, it saw that the decayed flesh on Uria’s body was beginning to fall apart, with deep blue flames burning within.
Its aura continued to swell even as its body steadily collapsed.
“Uria! You madman! If you wish to die, do it yourself! Do not drag me down with you!”
Apophis roared in fury.
In the next instant, it sensed an even more terrifying energy fluctuation descending from above.
Slowly, Apophis raised its head and saw the sacred figure in the sky gently lift her hand once more as a platinum divine sword, wreathed in flames, appeared in her grasp.
The golden figure looked calmly at the terror-stricken Abyssal Serpent as her ethereal, resonant voice echoed across the sky.
“Accept judgment.”
“This is the wrath of the Elves.”
Then she gently swung the platinum sword.
A blinding radiance burst forth from the blade, forming a white platinum sword aura nearly a thousand meters long as it rushed toward Apophis.
“No!”
Facing the oncoming sword aura, Apophis let out a despairing hiss.
The sword aura arrived in an instant, passing directly through its body.
Yet oddly enough, it caused no physical harm to “Uria,” who was holding the Abyssal Snake in its arms, nor to the countless Elves and players on the ground below.
Only Apophis’s massive body trembled slightly, before it froze in place.
A pure look of terror lingered in its eyes, and after a couple of seconds, its enormous body began to fade away from the bottom upward, as though fully erased from existence itself.
There was no blood nor wounds, no sign of injury to mark its passing.
There was no deafening explosion either, no burst of light, and no tides of energy born of a clash between myths, only silence and stillness.
At that moment, the entire world seemed to come to a standstill as the physical form of the Abyssal Giant Serpent, Apophis, gradually disappeared, leaving no evidence of its existence.
Not a trace of its aura remained, as if its very “existence” had been “severed” from reality.
With its existence erased, the mythical being that had dominated the Cliff of Sorrows for thousands of years—the Abyssal Evil God Apophis—was finally gone.
Immediately afterward, the massive black tide it had summoned also collapsed entirely.
The gray mist that had long hung over the Cliff of Sorrows slowly lifted, and a radiant light poured down from the heavens above, illuminating everything with golden divine light.
It reached every corner of the land, with the lofty, magnificent figure in the sky becoming the center of the world.
