The only reason he wasn’t a formal member was because of something he did—no, it wasn’t considered “bad” per se, but that thing had caused him to remain as only a named member, or so were the words going around.

People saw him bashing his desk; it creaked, but since it was made of strong material, it remained safe and sound.

“How dare these few pieces of shit dare say something like that and spout nonsense? Do they think they have the freedom to talk any nonsense that comes to their mind?” Justin fumed. “Bitches… how dare they be ungrateful! I knew I was right when I dealt with that bunch back in that fourth-world country.”

“I knew showing gratefulness to this bunch would only backfire! And now, just because something isn’t granted to them—just because they think they deserve it but instead it was kept from them—they act out! How dare they have such thoughts? How dare they think they deserve such an opportunity? To go there and pollute that place as well…”

“Damn cultists! They are a shame to our race… brainwashed people!” Justin shouted. It was as if he was completely done with them; he frustratingly yelled whatever words he thought were appropriate at the moment. He was truly furious.

“Call the Federation representative! Ask them to deal with this immediately. I want those pieces of shit who started it—and those who are fanning the flames behind them—to be dealt with. If not, tell them our company will do everything to make things difficult for the Federation itself!”

Justin gave the orders as the Chief Manager of this division and as a Named Officer; he really did have the capacity to cause such a storm. After all, this was something he had warned the Federation about numerous times. The Goddess of Judgment as well as the Goddess of Freedom had been his witnesses; if he made his case, he knew he would have their support.

“Yes, yes Sir!” The subordinate, who was secretly shuddering in Justin’s presence, took the order. He quickly tapped a few times on the watch he was wearing and walked back out.

People could hear what the secretary was saying to the representative of the Federation. “Yes, please deal with this immediately… a Named Member, who is also the Chief Manager of one of the divisions of Quantum Net Limited, isn’t happy with the things happening online.”

The secretary stopped speaking suddenly midway, as if he was distracted by something, before he followed up a second later. “And yes, this is the stance of the company. If things are not dealt with properly, then there could be many consequences that will definitely affect the Federation as a whole. So please, think carefully and take action just as quickly, for it won’t end well if nothing is done to our satisfaction.”

On the other side, the Federation representative spoke with great hesitance. He was sweating profusely; the situation was really, really confusing, even to him. He knew that a sudden storm could take place within Quantum Net, but this was unexpected. Throughout the call he was currently on with the secretary of one of Quantum Net Limited’s main divisions, he felt troubled by their stance—which was nothing short of a threat, if he understood it correctly.

He was, indeed, also cursing that bunch of idiots. Because they were free, did they think they could do anything? Couldn’t they log in to any VR classes and gain some knowledge? Or even play that fancy game—which was really good—so at least they could be real mages and swordsmen and slay real monsters, for fuck’s sake! Why couldn’t they do those activities instead?

“These bunch of idiots…” While he was internally slamming them, he was, in actuality, deeply troubled. He couldn’t do the same as Justin, for this wasn’t under his authority. He needed to quickly inform the higher-ups and have them call for a Federal meeting with all the senior and junior members to discuss this. Given the stance of Quantum Net Limited, he knew the decision needed to be made hurriedly; if not, who knew what kind of losses they could suffer? It wasn’t in the interest of the Federation at all!

“Ple-please rest assured, I will relay your message to the higher-ups of the Earth Federation immediately,” the Ambassador stammered. “I’ll have them expedite the process, and you will have your answer soon. I just hope you will give us time…”

“Well, time is something you might not have, Federation Ambassador!” Narrowing his eyebrows, the secretary was about to say something more before his expression shifted. He changed his words and even his tone. “I’ll leave that to depend on how quickly you give us an answer and how we accept it. So… let’s see.”

With that, not waiting for the Federation representative to reply, he cut off the secured channel immediately. His work was done, and any more talk was unnecessary.

“It’s done, Chief Manager Justin,” the secretary said as he walked closer.

“Good.” Justin had heard everything his secretary said, so he didn’t ask for a report. However, something was weighing on his mind. When he heard the Ambassador mention calling the higher-ups, Justin felt a familiar bitterness. I don’t know why the Void Fleet even established the Federation to begin with, he thought.

Though the Three Goddesses existed, they were still limited by the current poor and “slow-yet-fast” technological development of the Federation. They lacked the formal control for which they were originally created. As of now, ultimate decision-making was still in the hands of the Federation’s Inner Council—which was slow and shabby, especially with those specific people involved.

“Sigh… I hope they do something this time, or I won’t let them go,” Justin muttered. He turned to leave and walked toward the Director’s office.

He had noticed when his secretary stopped mid-sentence and added something he shouldn’t have. After all, despite the secretary’s own level and security clearance, he didn’t represent the entire company—yet he had said exactly that. Justin knew the leadership must be behind it, and he intended to confirm it.

Just as Justin left, everyone—including Justin’s own secretary—took a deep breath in relief. It was very hard on them to be in his presence when he was releasing that fearful aura that sent chills down their spines. It was the kind of aura that made it feel truly dreadful just being near him, as if they were being suffocated or strangled.

It was unbearable, and now that he was gone—along with that suffocating aura that made it hard for them to even stand—they sighed in relief.

“Huff… huff…” They gasped, taking deep breaths. Only after calming down did one person whisper, “I have a bad feeling about this…”

“You as well?” another person added. Hearing this, the others felt it too, their spines chilling at the thought.

A discussion broke out among the staff. The secretary, Carter, who had been silently listening to it all, finally spoke up. “Indeed… it looks like dark clouds are surrounding the Federation once again. And this time, it looks like something bigger—though certainly not better—is about to happen. And we are right in the middle of it.”

“Well, at least we might be participants in it… if anything,” he added with a heavy sigh.

The faces around him changed accordingly, some becoming a bit pale as they understood the implications. Others tilted their heads in confusion, looking at Carter as if asking, We don’t understand, can you be clearer about it, sir?

But Carter would have none of it. He had already said more than enough; if they couldn’t guess the meaning, he wasn’t going to say anything else. He walked back toward his station and continued his orders.

“Pay attention to these hatters on net! Mark those who are a big part of this well-organized and orchestrated attack… Mark and try to track everyone who is fanning the flames behind the Seans!”
