Chapter 23: MAGEO’S Tests

After many hours of praying and hoping, with nowhere to run, Jayden felt the pressuring aura of the flame dragon tamer closing in on his campus.

The inevitable end that had been waiting for him had finally arrived.

He came down from his bunk, already fully prepared for classes like it was any other regular day.

Jayden turned and smiled at his roommates before exiting the room.

Stepping out, he obstructed his eyes from the sunlight with his palm, as his vision focused on the dragon tamer and the two men who had visited him the previous day.

’Time to go to my lunatic mode again.’ He thought, smiling widely, then ran to the man.

Jayden clenched the dragon tamer’s hand,

“Mister… Mister… you found my script? Did I get a legendary beast?’ He was enthusiastically jumping around the man.

“Wow….!’ Jayden’s eyes gleamed as he rubbed the dragon scales along the man’s arm.

“Is this some kinda Modern fashion, or are you slowly turning into a dragon?”

The flame dragon tamer clenched his teeth, with a bit of disgust, ’see how too much reading has turned this handsome kid into a nerd, but we couldn’t afford to lose a dragon and so the government decided to sabotage your English exams, but the egg thay gave you—well let’s go see if fate found it’s way to still pay you the reward of your handwork.”

The man looked down at Jayden, “Once again, sorry for the inconvenience, but we’ll have to take you for a test.”

“A test?” Jayden stumbled back, scratching his head with a terrified look on his face,

“But I didn’t read, how am I supposed to pass?”

The man scratched his nape, “Don’t worry, it’s not the kinda test you fail.”

Jayden smiled, “Ohh, really? Thank goodness”, but in his mind, he could think of the vast possibilities if they found out he was bonded to a dragon.

Well, certainly, they would find out, and maybe then the best outcome would be that Jayden becomes their next lab rat.

“Alright kid, get in the car. You also don’t need to worry about school today,” the dragon tamer raised a leave permit and added, “I already got permission from the authorities.”

Jayden smiled, then looked at the car behind them, “Is that a Lamborghini?”

Jayden rushed into the red vehicle, securing the seat next to the driver’s seat while energetically looking at every detail of the vehicle.

The flame dragon tamer and the other two men also entered the vehicle.

Jayden leaned into the dragon tamer who sat in the driver’s seat.

“Man, you’re rich. Tell me, can I touch this button? Or this one, wait, what does this one do?”

The dragon tamer almost freaked out when Jayden was about to touch the self-destruct button, but luckily, the two men at the back restrained Jayden.

Jayden grinned, struggling to free himself, “Heyyy, not fair…. you’re that angry face from yesterday” he looked at the men, sweating and grinning behind him.

“Hey, Mister,” Jayden turned to the dragon tamer, “I have a small refrigerator in my room. I think these two need to cool their temper.”

“S-Shut up!!!” Both men in black suits screamed as the engine roared to life.

Some hours later, the men behind loosen the cloth they used to cover Jayden’s eyes, but all the trials to make him stop talking were futile.

He was loud throughout the journey, a complete pain in the ass.

“Alright, kid, get down”, the dragon tamer instructed.

Jayden stepped out of the car and traced the building before him from its base to its peak.

“Whoa…” Jayden exclaimed.

The skyscraper contained nothing less than fifty floors and not to mention, the vast space of the compound.

’This is practically in the middle of nowhere, ’ Jayden thought as the neighbours to the building were endless trees, as such industries were usually secluded from residential areas.

The famous MAGEO, which had carried evolution to date, was standing right before him.

The dragon tamer took out his access control card, which was just like the one Jayden took from the water dragon tamer the other day.

He scanned it with an access control reader and the door slid open before them.

Jayden stepped in, his frame reflecting in every polished surface

He could already perceive chemicals and carbonated gases in the air.

At every corner, there was a beast scientist, testing a beast part with different chemicals and striving to bring up their evolutionary contributions to at least put their names somewhere in the chart.

Jayden smiled, walking behind the dragon tamer.

’So this whole place is just like a showroom, while the real deal happens underground. Classic!’

It was nothing out of the ordinary here,

Okay, maybe not much evil was going on up here, but Jayden was fascinated when he was led through a man-trap door and noticed the same button just like in the hidden MAGEO headquarters.

’So they’ve still got things to hide here, huu’ he looked around, walking slowly to a corner where the CCTV camera couldn’t picture and also ensuring there were no eyes on him.

Jayden then dropped a phone into the trash can, one which could serve as a tracking signal if he was fortunate to get back home, and he needed to keep a map to the MAGEO.

But the sound drew the attention of one of the men in black suits.

“Whoa”, Jayden immediately exclaimed, shifting the man’s attention as he ran to the opposite side of the hallway, placing his face over a transparent glass which demarcated the hallway from a room.

“Hey, kid, move”, the man instructed.

Jayden stepped away from the glass. He had managed to keep the phone a secret, but now he had another opportunity he wasn’t gonna miss.

“Shiny… shiny… shiny…” he kept on smirking as he ran past the door into the room where people were creating artificial crystals and some security men mouthed the four corners of the room with a Stun gun in hand.

Jayden reached a far rank and began touching the crystals while muttering the words, “shiny”

“Hey, you, your hands above your head”, one of the security guards shouted, pointing a gun at Jayden while the others did the same.

Jayden immediately stepped back, raising his empty hands to the air but just when they wanted to handcuff him, the dragon tamers came and interrupted,

“I’m sorry for his attitudes. He’s with me!”

The security men didn’t waste a single second before releasing Jayden.

“You’d better behave, young Logan!” The dragon tamer warned but Jayden just smiled and walked past him.

’Fuck’, Jayden screamed in his thoughts as his eyes fell on a certain tamer.

The ice-blue-haired man he encountered in the underground factory.

Jayden immediately turned to look away, but it was too late; the man’s eyes were already looking desperately at Jayden, and now he was approaching him with intense steps.
