Chapter 62: Dark Canyon
After leaving the real-life matters for later and jumping into the game, Yone was surprised to find that some people had already reached level 6 and that many casual players had reached level 3.
It should be known that he just left the game for 3 hours in real life, meaning only 6 hours had passed in the game. Even then, the growth of the players was something that Yone found terrifying.
With that thought, Yone gathered his party of Silent Wall, Swift Slash, and Rage and went to grind towards the lake right below the mountain and the newbie’s forest.
Many players had already risen to Level 3 at the current stage of the game. Hence, aside from raiding the Dungeon at the Death Stone, they would stay in the forest right in front of the town, meant for newbies to kill Level 1 and 2 Wolf Cubs.
Only a few experts would go to the Level 4, 5, and 6 areas, which are the deepest part of the newbie’s forest and beyond it, right at the lake’s shore, to level up. However, along with the increase in player levels, it wouldn’t be long before Lake Shore would become occupied.
After spending over half an hour returning to Lake Shore, the scene they met with was the same as what Yone had exactly expected.
Several elite parties, which were around the range of level 4 and 5, were grinding non-stop, totally ignoring the fact that the Death Stone dungeon was being traded by crazy by several guilds and that a random player had already cleared it on Hell Mode in their southern region.
Although this scene was to Yone’s expectations, he still couldn’t fathom how any of them could be so careless about the Death Stone dungeon and just brush it off to the roadside like that.
If Yone didn’t have a 48-hour cooldown on his next entry to Death Stone, he would be living in it right now and not here grinding monsters and resources.
That was how important the dungeon was for the various guilds in his past life after they entered the city and knew the resources they were missing and could only be found inside of it…
’Do they not realize that just clearing hard mode is enough to let them gear up their whole groups to the brim with uncommon equipment?’ Yone was astonished as he looked at the scene.
The reason for his astonishment was mainly because the parties grinding here were by no means casual parties, but were instead the Elites! They would perfectly lure in a big crab out of the water with the tank taking agro and none damaging or healing, then the tank would prevent the big crab from reaching their mage and healer.
Although they didn’t know that dodging existed like Yone did when he was grinding these big grabs, the healer still barely maintained his HP by focusing on him from behind.
Although it was taxing to grind in such a way, the gains from the fight were equally good. The couple of big crabs had dropped ten copper coins each, and some water orb materials used to craft shields or brew healing potions.
In Eclipse Online, only monsters Level 3 and above would drop skill books and Uncommon Equipment, although the chance was only one in a thousand, it was still enough to cause all these parties to grind like crazy.
After all, uncommon equipment was still valuable and was actually the hot commodity right now, if anyone had a piece of Uncommon equipment, his gains would be tremendous, and countless guilds would flock to his stall just in order to buy one.
It was the same when Yone was selling those, and such a scene was reappearing in all the different stalls and not just his. Therefore, it went without saying that the value of skill books was even more frightening, as guilds would wage wars for them.
Although small-scale ones, such disputes for skill books were pretty common, and in Yone’s past life, many guilds had fallen, whether it was in the early game or mid game, just because they held on to a skill book that wasn’t befitting their rank.
After taking a few glances, Yone turned and left towards the inner parts of the Lake’s Shore and where monsters that ranged between level 6 and 8 would be scattered like flies.
The other party members who were new to the Lake Shore and accompanying Yone for the first time were very nervous. It was especially true when they saw the Level 4, 5 scattered throughout the entire area. Their breaths became slightly hurried, especially after seeing some of the 6 leveled monster crabs that hid deep inside the water.
’Truly a crazy bastard,’ Silent Wall cursed as he saw Yone heading even deeper into the forest at the Lake Shore, and he knew that his destination couldn’t be anything easier than their current leveling spot.
As for the rest, they couldn’t help but be afraid, but also excited as they knew that following Yone’s lead and instructions would help elevate their combat standards to new heights by just watching him play, much less when he spoke himself and taught them a thing or two.
“Hmm? What is that group without a single healer doing?” One of the tanks was busy taking agro of a level 5 big crab he just pulled out of the lake, when he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at Yone’s party destination.
Some of his teammates and other parties who overheard his words as he didn’t say it in the team chat also turned their heads, but were instantly shocked as they watched Yone’s party head inside of the forest.
Not to be forgotten that the party’s levels were as clear as daylight in front of them, and although they were level 5, it was still never a good idea to head down into an area infested with monsters of level 6 and above.
There were very few parties currently present in Lake Shore, much less Lake Forest. It had yet to be completely developed, so there were a lot of Spiders and Goblins in the middle of the forest.
The deeper one headed towards the center, the greater the number of spiders and goblins one would stumble upon.
“Hmm?” Suddenly, one noticed the nameplate of the person at the front and couldn’t help but rub his eyes in disbelief,” Isn’t that Requiem? The current top spot in the world in terms of levels?”
Hearing his words, the players around him also looked around and confirmed his words, their hearts beating faster as some of them even clicked their tongues in frustration.
