Chapter 151: Raid(1)
Dawnfall Domain—located at the westernmost edge of the Empire, bordering the mysterious sea—had once built countless Inner Sea warships for the imperial navy. The soldiers here excelled at naval warfare, having slain innumerable merfolk, sea races, and ocean elves.
Of course, that was all in the past.
At the border between Dawnfall Domain and Nightfall Domain stood a former pass, now reduced to ruins, where corrupted corpses wandered aimlessly.
“These two pieces of trash… when it comes to killing my kind, they don’t hold back at all.”
Ophelia stared at the two figures within her scrying orb with clear disgust. They were slaughtering corrupted corpses with all their might, and the splattering gore made her tremble with anger.
“Hmph, I’ll spare you for now. Once I take this territory, the first ones I kill will be you two.”
Her snow-white hands clenched so tightly that veins bulged. Ophelia stopped watching, then boredly plunged her head straight into the pile of gold coins on the table.
“Ahh~ gold coins are the best… shiny and hard~”
“Sigh, why isn’t Violet back yet? That kind and loyal little one clearly hasn’t been defeated. Unfortunately, my eyes can’t monitor the entire Nightfall Domain.”
Resting her chin on her hand, Ophelia couldn’t help but worry about her own kind.
Suddenly, a sense of dread surged through her heart, as if an invisible hand had gripped it tightly.
“The alarm has been triggered. An enemy is approaching.”
Ophelia carefully gathered the gold coins into a chest, then took out her scrying orb. Her expression darkened as her eyes widened in disbelief.
“How is this possible? That lord actually came looking for me… Wait, how does he know I’m here?”
Phield sat atop Ashina’s giant wolf, cloaked in black, darting swiftly through the night.
“Got it! Violet was right—the enemy is hiding nearby.”
A red dot suddenly appeared at the edge of the map, indicating that Ophelia had entered the minimap’s detection range.
Any Divine Chosen who was not bound by contract would be detected by the minimap.
“I’ve never been the type to sit around and take hits. You dared to attack my territory—just don’t let me catch you.”
Phield pointed ahead while drawing the Silver Iris Longsword.
“Move toward the left front. The enemy is hiding in those ruins. Ashina, prepare for battle. I’m going to make her pay and admit her mistake.”
“Yes, my lord.”
Divine power surged through Ashina as the black wolf burst forward toward the ruins at astonishing speed.
The enemy had tested him with corpse tides and even used spies—it was clear she was a cautious opponent. Phield had no intention of playing a prolonged game of wits with a monster.
The red dot on the minimap barely moved, but she was mobilizing corrupted corpses.
“Looks like she’s realized my plan. No matter—against someone who can summon a corpse tide, it’s better to end things quickly.”
Phield remained completely calm.
“Follow the direction I indicate. Before we clash with her directly, don’t waste too much energy on the fodder.”
The moment Ashina carried Phield straight into the ruined pass, Ophelia could no longer remain seated.
A streak of light shot forward, accompanied by a cold sneer.
“You eliminating my kind did put a bit of pressure on me. I was planning to continue testing you, but your intelligence is like that of a firefly—pathetically faint. To think you’d dare to charge straight into my territory without soldiers to share the burden. The only thing awaiting you is death.”
Phield followed the direction of the voice.
A tall, mature woman stood before him. Behind her swayed a plump silver-blue tail—perhaps a dragon’s, or maybe that of a giant snake or lizard, as she had no wings. Her waist was slender and supple, yet above it she was full and rounded, and below it her curves were equally rich and smooth, giving her an overall voluptuous presence. The expression she wore—tinged with anger and mockery—only added to her charm.
The only flaw was her tattered slave attire. She wore no shoes, and iron rings bound her feet and neck. Despite that, there was still something strangely provocative about her appearance.
“Very smooth~ but it’d be even better if you changed into a maid outfit. Add some thigh rings and ribbons—that would be perfect.”
Phield spoke without thinking.
“What kind of look is that? I should gouge your eyes out. You dare provoke me with just a first-tier Divine Chosen at your side?”
Ophelia flew into a rage and waved her hand.
“My kind, hear me—kill them!”
In the next instant, an overwhelming number of corrupted corpses surged out from the ruins, roaring in unison as they flooded toward Phield like a tidal wave. Among them were first-tier and even second-tier corrupted corpses.
“Rosalia, I’ll leave the enemy Divine Chosen to you. We’ll hold off the corpses.”
Phield tilted his head slightly and spoke to the Greatsword of Gluttony. Rosalia was concealed within it—without Ashina’s speed, it would have taken her one or two weeks to arrive on foot.
“Leave it to me. This time, I’ll control myself.”
Rosalia’s voice echoed by his ear.
After giving his orders, Phield’s magic surged. He infused the greatsword with powerful energy and hurled it forward with explosive force.
“What is that supposed to be? You think something like this can hurt me?”
Ophelia let out a dismissive laugh. The scrying orb sank into her body as sapphire-like claws extended from both hands. Casually, she reached out to swat away the Greatsword of Gluttony.
It was precisely that careless attitude that immediately drew blood.
Slash—
Three or four chains suddenly shot out from the Greatsword of Gluttony, piercing straight through Ophelia’s delicate body and leaving gruesome penetrating wounds across her pale skin.
“Damn it! I was careless.”
Ophelia’s eyes widened, her pupils rapidly dilating as she retreated at high speed. But almost instantly, she felt something wrong—her senses began to dull.
“Something… something is crawling in through the wound.”
She found herself unable to heal. Beneath her thin, translucent skin, several small bulges began to move slowly. Each movement brought unbearable, tearing pain.
“What is this thing…”
Ophelia had no choice but to expend a large amount of divine power to forcibly suppress the creature’s movement.
“This is Acron’s legacy—the Bone-Eroding Corruptor Worms.”
A graceful figure landed lightly. Rosalia, carrying the Greatsword of Gluttony on her back, revealed a set of gleaming white teeth and gave a polite bow with a smile.
“You’ve been searching for the one who killed Acron, haven’t you? That would be me. Heh… corrupted-flavored food is quite delicious too.”
“You… why? We’re supposed to be the same kind—no, your aura has changed.”
Ophelia’s pupils trembled violently as she stared at the person before her in disbelief.
“You actually help humans against the corrupted… you deserve to die.”
“Heh, didn’t that other Divine Chosen also eat her own kind?”
Rosalia shrugged indifferently, completely unconcerned.
“That’s a matter among corrupted beings.”
Rosalia lifted her eyelids slightly, thinking to herself: If I revealed that Violet was also a “traitor,” would she completely lose her mind?
“How about this—if you’re willing to serve my lord as a Divi—cough, cough—a Divine Chosen, I’d be more than happy to spare your life.”
