Chapter 128: The Devil’s Emergence (Part-5)

The low and mid-ranked hunters, especially those who were ranged attackers, launched a series of attacks on a suppressed Satan, while the close combat fighters either ended up as spectators to cheer for the two S-rankers or helped other guilds evacuate the public.

As Satan only got enraged by their defiance, he swept through all of those defensive shields in one swing and unleashed a sea of flames to incinerate the hunters around.

By the time Gareth finished his technique, summoning a giant sphere of light in the sky, the streets around were razed to the ground, half of the hunters turned into ash, while the other half received serious injuries. Not even those A-rank and B-rank hunters of the Silvershapers Guild, who were the primary force in the frontlines, were spared. Noel barely managed to defend himself.

“Die…” Gareth, in rage and despair, motioned his hand. The Spear of Light, which once killed a Level-71 Black Dragon in one of the dungeons and gave him the title of Crimson Spear, descended toward Satan.

However, just when it was about to strike the Devil, the latter pushed forth his hand. The giant humanoid armor around him mimicked his movement and blocked the spear before sucking it into its hand.

That became the cue for Gareth and Noel to realize what sort of an enemy they were dealing with. Both of them rushed forward to face the Devil, giving time for the people to escape through a barrier that was erected around the city premises, which surprisingly allowed anything to go in and leave, but blocked anything but humans. Even the monster companions contracted to the hunters were forced to stay inside.

The city descended into panic. People ran, vehicles overturned, screams echoed through every street.

Grabbing both of their throats, Devil raised a defeated Gareth and Noel high to his eye level, basically where he was floating inside the giant armored head. “Your time to show off your powers is over. Now, it’s my…”

As they were about to fall down, they were caught by what seemed like a hand.

The man was an SS-rank Hunter, wielding an obsidian glaive, floating in the air. The strongest man in the country has arrived. He was six feet tall, with a lean physique. Wearing a traditional Hanfu, flowing robes with layered fabrics, wide sleeves, and sashes, his long white flowing hair gave him almost the appearance of a man who doesn’t belong to this era.

“Ren Tianyu,” murmured Noel, looking at the man who slowly floated toward the Devil.

“Where is the Emperor Qilin?” Gareth, sitting beside Noel, asked aloud.

Catching their words, Ren Tianyu cast a sidelong glance at Gareth and said, “The barrier erected around the city has forbidden my brother’s entry. It was a Saint Tier monster, and yet it couldn’t break through the laws of the barrier. Must be the Demon of Southern Wu.”

Noel and Gareth couldn’t help but exchange glances at his words. Gulping his saliva, Noel asked, “Are you confident in taking him on, without your Qilin?” Gareth followed it up with, “Can we help somehow?”

To which, Ren Tianyu let out a smile. “Help me communicate with your guilds. I don’t want any intervention and tell everyone to just focus on evacuating this city. To defeat this enemy, I will have to go all out.”

Both of them nodded in unison, not arguing with the SS-ranker.

Meanwhile, from far above, on the balcony of Four Seasons, Alexander watched everything through his telescope. His expression turned a bit sour.

Alex couldn’t help but click his tongue, watching Ren Tianyu engaged with the Devil in an equal battle. In fact, Ren Tianyu might be seen as having an upper edge, based on the fact that the Demonic giant armored being was showing cracks on its body with every attack from him, forcing Satan to pour more of his energy to maintain it.

He lowered the glass slowly. “Tch… a pest has come in the end, trying to destroy my plans. Alright.”

Setting the telescope aside, Alexander stood and inhaled deeply. “Since he is here, this battle is bound to get complicated and might slowly seep away from my control.”

Acting right away, Alex leaped off the balcony. But instead of falling, he floated effortlessly into the air, soaring higher until the wind howled around him.

“Open Inventory.”

Then, from his inventory, a brilliant, massive golden throne materialized, with thirty-two steps leading to its divine seat.

As soon as Alexander sat upon it, the Vikramaditya’s throne glowed. A hum filled the sky as divine energy enveloped him, molding into a towering divine armor that covered both his body and the throne. It shot a beam of golden light into the clouds, earning attention.

From the battlefield below, Satan suddenly froze mid-attack. His burning red eyes flicked toward the west, capturing the presence of a divine pillar of light. “This… hateful presence… A celestial?”

The pressure around him intensified; his wings unfurled, and with a guttural snarl, he shoved away Ren Tianyu, who was about to attack its cracked armor with his fist.

Then, roaring like a beast from hell, Satan charged toward the source of that divine light.

Every hunter, soldier, and civilian who could still stand turned to look. Far away in the crimson-tinted sky, they saw it — a radiant throne gleaming above the city, and upon it, a single man cloaked in gold.

“What… what is that…?” whispered one of the A-rankers.

“A god has descended to deal with this demon…?” someone else murmured in awe.

Ren Tianyu furrowed his brows, staring at the scene. “A divine being? No… this feels like the power of an artifact.”

Meanwhile, in one of the lower floors of the Four Seasons, Lin Fang stood by the window with Vivian, both silently waiting for the chaos outside to fade.

With the hotel being located so far away from the battlefield, both Vivian and Lin Fang seemed to be unaffected much.

However, suddenly, the air shifted as an overwhelming surge of energy pressed down from above, so heavy that even breathing became difficult. Vivian gasped, clutching at her chest as a blinding golden light poured through the glass panes.

“W-What is this…?” she whispered in a trembling voice.

Before Lin Fang could answer, another wave of raw power slammed through the room, this time, familiar, dark, and suffocating that they had been experiencing so faintly, except that the intensity had increased a hundred times. The contrast between the divine and demonic energies was so immense that even the walls began to crack.

Vivian, unable to stand the pressure, threw her arms around Lin Fang, trembling in fear. The next instant, the ceiling lights shattered.

“Let’s go…” Lin Fang said sharply.

Without hesitation, he grabbed her hand and sprinted toward the balcony doors instead of the main door. The moment he pushed them open, the storm of energy nearly blew them back inside. Still, he didn’t stop. Lin Fang wrapped an arm around her waist and jumped.

Vivian screamed. “Are you insane? We’re on the twenty-sixth floor…”

Her voice cut off when she felt no impact. Instead, she realized that they were flying.

Vivian turned her head toward Lin Fang, whose face was set in grim concentration with his eyes glowing faintly. His hand held her firmly as streaks of light trailed behind them.

“You— you can fly too?” she stammered.

Lin Fang didn’t answer. His gaze was locked in the sky, right above their building, where two colossal forces loomed over the city.

One was the divine humanoid form, a radiant giant seated upon a throne, mimicking Alex and his throne, armored in celestial light, hovering high above the skyline.

Opposite him, surged the demonic titan with its skin wreathed in hell flames, wings tearing the clouds apart as it charged.

Lin Fang’s expression hardened. “This city’s done for if they clash here…”

Vivian clung tighter to him, unable to look away from the approaching catastrophe.

And then, as the heavens trembled and the air itself split apart, the Devil and the Divine finally met, unleashing a wave in the surroundings on their impact.
